We have a new name. A broader mission. And a community that needs this now more than ever.

Independence With Friends (formerly Sweetwater Spectrum South) is a SoCal-based 501(c)(3) dedicated to supporting adults with autism and developmental disabilities — and the families who love them.

We started with a dream of building a residential community. That dream taught us something important: many of our families will be keeping our adult children at home, with 24/7 care, for the long haul. And most of us are doing it without a safety net.

So we're building one. Together.

🔹 A vetted network of families and carers who know each other and can step in during emergencies.
🔹 Partnerships with the incredible organizations already serving our community.
🔹 And yes — still exploring community housing models for the future.

We're hosting our first community meeting soon. If you're a SoCal family navigating life with an adult with autism or developmental disabilities — we want to hear from you.

The thing about autism is that it is for life—and with support and accommodations, adults on the spectrum can live happy and productive lives. That may look different for each person, but a huge component to a happy life is getting to live to your individual potential.
