Helping build our community, our democracy, and a better America for generations to come. Butte, Montana, affiliate of Indivisible.org.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
We have issued the following open letter in response to Senator Sheehy's egregious lies from Thursday, June 4, 2026.

Indivisible Butte is compelled to rebuke the latest false accusations from Senator Tim Sheehy. Our group practices our Constitutionally guaranteed right and responsibility to assemble and call out our government officials when we see illegal and unethical actions. He betrays his oath of office when he tries to undermine our First Amendment rights. Indivisible Butte works to provide the community-building and leadership he fails to perform. It is disgraceful that an elected official would willfully and knowingly lie about his constituents or their rights.

Senator Sheehy lies when he claims that Indivisible Groups across the country are communist insurgents paid by dark money to tear the US apart. Thousands of his constituents participate in Indivisible groups, and he has never directly talked with any of us in a town hall. He does not care about what Indivisible groups actually do for our communities.

Butte’s grassroots Indivisible chapter’s mission is to defeat the current regime’s autocratic agenda and Project 2025, and to help build our community, our democracy, and a better America for generations to come.

Our commitment to this mission and our community can be documented by the more than 2000 pounds of food and over $3500 donated directly to our local food banks and pantries. We work to increase our community’s civic engagement through our volunteer work: nonpartisan voter registration, advancing citizen initiatives, and helping other nonprofit, nonpartisan groups to improve the quality of life for our neighbors and community.

All our expenses are paid by us and our members. While we do this work passionately and without pay, Senator Sheehy ignores the needs of his constituents. He votes to make healthcare more unaffordable and give massive tax cuts to the ultra-rich. He works to make voting harder for Montanans based on the practically nonexistent cases of voter fraud.

IMPORTANT REMINDER ON THE LOCATION OF NO KINGS VOTE EARLY!

Between the ballot drop-off and the Resistance Rally today, several people said to me, "And we're at the mall tomorrow, right?"

We're not at the mall!

We are going to be in the grass lot at the corner of East Park and Covert Streets uptown. We held our "The Time is Always Right!" event there in January. This land belongs to members Dan and Melody, and we are so grateful they're welcoming us on it again!

Yeah, it's on the small side. But we couldn't use the mall due to the Winco construction. We couldn't use the Civic Center due to the Hillcrest Bazaar. Parks and Rec now requires 40 days lead time. So this is where we are, we're going to make it work, and it's going to be a blast! by @indivisible.butte

Our first ballot drop-off celebration was tons of fun! Many folks are already turning in their ballots, or going in to request an absentee ballot and voting on the spot, and we love to see it! We had stickers and candy as tokens of our gratitude, and had a great time talking with folks.

We'll do it again Tuesday, 10/20, 10-11 AM, and Friday, 10/23, 11 AM-noon. by @indivisible.butte

We're kicking off NO KINGS VOTE EARLY with our first ballot drop-off celebration at the Butte-Silver Bow Courthouse (155 W Granite) at 11 AM on Friday, October 16. We'll have a banner and noisemakers, and will celebrate the fun and the excitement of getting to vote!

At noon, head right next door for the regularly scheduled Resistance Rally, and keep raising your voice encouraging people to get out the vote!

We're almost there, friends! NO KINGS VOTE EARLY is just two days away!

We are excited to present our Passport to Informed Voting Activity! We'll have nine tables set up presenting information on everything election and voting related there is. You can visit as few or as many as you want, but the more you visit, the more times your passport gets stamped, and the more stamps you get, the more raffle tickets you get! Among the prizes are the stunning quilt pictured, donated by Olive Herman, mom of Leadership Team member Denise Herman. We have 100 passports printed, first come first served!

Don't want to do the passport? That's OK! Bring your signs and protest on the sidewalk! Remember to avoid campaigning signs for or against anything on the ballot.

Need a voter registration form? We'll have a table with everything you need, you'll just have to take it with you to present in person at the courthouse on Monday! (This table is not part of the passport!)

Don't forget the food drive! We'll have a pickup bed ready to collect all the donations! Shelf-stable, non-perishable, and non-expired, please! Personal care items, period products, paper products, and cash are also all welcome and needed! Make Lynn and I bust tail sorting donations in my garage.

Amanda and Kevin Curtis will be there with some of their beautiful music! Be sure to give them some love!

We may have a brief speaker we'll ask you to listen to for a few minutes! Still pending confirmation.

Please dress for the weather and bring whatever you need to be comfortable for an hour or two outside. Bring your water bottle. There is not a bathroom on-site, so go before you come to the event.

As always, no weapons allowed. We will have BSB officer on-site and our courtesy patrol with be keeping an eye out to make sure we all stay safe. Please don't interact with any hecklers driving/walking by! For their safety, please leave pets at home (service animals of course are welcome!)

We can't wait to see you all at noon on Saturday, October 17, in the grass lot at the corner of Covert and East Park Streets in uptown Butte.

In response to Trump's visit to Kalispell on Wednesday, October 14, Sam Forstag's @samforstag campaign is organizing a day of action, including food drives, in Butte and Bozeman! They'll be at Carpenter's Union Hall from 4-8 PM.

Add this to our weekly food drive at the Friday Resistance Rally, and the food drive at NO KINGS on Saturday, and it will hopefully be a great week for the Butte Emergency Food Bank and all the other pantries around town.

So this is a great time for my reminder post on what to bring and not bring to a food drive!

YES:
- shelf-stable, non-perishable, non-expired foods
- things that are quick and easy to prepare: think about folks who only have access to a microwave, have mobility issues, kids who have to fend from themselves after school, etc.
- canned goods with pop-tops when possible
- paired items: pasta AND sauce, peanut butter AND jelly
- TREATS like coffee, tea, snack packs, cake mix
- grab-and-go items like protein/granola bars, individual soup cups, fruit cups, tuna and crackers kits
- items that don't need extra ingredients (get the mac and cheese with cheese sauce instead of the one that needs milk and butter!)
- remember folks with allergies or special diets - gluten-free, nut-free, vegan, sugar-free items are welcome
- personal care items, especially menstrual supplies, and paper products
- pet food/treats/cat litter
- monetary donations are great!

NO:
- items that need to be refrigerated or frozen - even if it's going to get delivered immediately after the drive, it's been sitting unrefrigerated for hours, would you want to eat it?
- items that are open, expired, and/or heavily damaged: pictured are items I have pulled from the pantry boxes because they are so expired or damaged that they are not safe to eat! The soup can was RUSTED.

And please bring your donations in a grocery sack or a box to make things easier for the folks collecting everything and transporting it!

I need to update our records, but we are well over $6000 in donations (cash and items) to area food banks and pantries since Indivisible Butte started in early 2025. Let's keep it going! by @indivisible.butte

This No Kings is a little different.

The sense of community, of being with like minded people, of raising our voices for what's good and right? That's the heart of No Kings. And we know you've all been itching for a big protest.

We also, URGENTLY, have to get as many people voting in the midterm election as possible! At local, state, and federal levels, we need CHANGE.

That's why the primary focus of this No Kings is encouraging voting, especially getting a big turn out in early voting.

Our Passport to Informed Voting activity is going to be fun, plus it will give you lots of info to take to the people in your circles who are hesitant about voting in any manner. It's also optional! You can do as little or as much of it as you want to! We have 100 passports printed, so first come, first serve.

You can still wave signs (just nothing about anything on the ballot, please)!

We'll still be doing the food drive! That's our pride and joy!

We'll have to adjust to our smaller area (the mall is out because of the Winco construction, and the Civic Center is out due to the Hillcrest Bazaar) and the weather may be iffy (at least it isn't THIS Saturday, whew), but we're Butte Tough and we can adapt to anything.

Please join us to get out the message: WE DON'T VOTE FOR KINGS.

Absentee ballots are going out TODAY! Keep an eye on your mailboxes.

These voter guides should be in your mailbox soon too, if you haven't gotten them already! Don't throw these away, the state and BSB guides designed to help you understand the ballot initiatives. The guide from Catalyst summarizes answers candidates gave to their survey.

And don't forget our ballot drop-off celebration days if you want to make returning your ballot a little extra fun! by @indivisible.butte

Today will be another multi-post day from me!

If you missed the opportunity to meet Alani Bankhead @alaniformt when we had our meet-and-greet in September, you have another chance! Thanks to our sister organization Butte Strong Neighborhood Watch, you can meet her Monday, October 12, at 6:30 PM at Unity Church (basement room). In addition to getting to talk to Alani face-to-face, there will be a potluck dinner - if you're able, bring a dish to share!

If Monday night doesn't work for you, she will also be the the guest at the BSB Burros lunch on October 22 - I'll make another reminder post about that as we get closer. by @indivisible.butte
