Do I want to post these on Monday nights after everyone votes? Yes. Did I still manage to post this nearly 48 hours earlier than I posted last week’s? Hell yes. #progress by @indyballreport

Sure, the Top 10 poll is starting over 2 months late this season and being posted 5 days late this week. It’s not my fault. China interfered with the voting. by @indyballreport

Quick note, this is the cliffnotes version of our ALPB Preview article. The full version is/will be on the website (link in bio). Head over there or to the YT channel for a deeper analysis on the start of the season.

Well everyone we made it to Indy Ball Opening Day 2026! As always the Atlantic League will kick things off first with a full slate of games tonight. Before we get to first pitch, let’s take a quick look at each team’s outlook heading into the season.

Long Island- The Ducks made some big splashes this offseason in an effort to get back to the playoffs for the first time under Lew Ford. This is a deep line up filled with former MLBers and all-stars from across Indy Ball. The starting rotation has some big names that fans will remember but the bullpen is really what stands out to me with shutdown guys for 7-8-9. Like the other orange team on LI, chemistry is a bigger question than talent. On paper, a bounceback year seems likely.

Lexington- The Legends out performed expectations last year under Paul Fletcher and his Pioneer League ringers and friends. They’ll need to do something similar this year in my estimation. Guys like Rock, Dixon, and McCarthy are proven batters that’ll have to do the damage for this lineup. From the outside looking in, the arms seem thin. Names like Peyton Glavine (yes it’s his kid) and Connor Greene are interesting but everyone else needs to be seen.

Charleston- The Dirty Birds are always my most difficult team to decipher. When I call them good, they underperform and vice versa. That said, I’ll fall for them again this year because PJ Phillips got one of my favorite Indy Ball hitters in Cornelius Randolph and supplemented with Narciso Crook. Two great Association bats that I think can make the ALPB leap. Underrated, but Jhon Nunez could be a sneaky valuable player behind this dish too. Simpson and Pena are very interesting arms and Lance Lusk is a stable bullpen arm. Overall, these guys should be a player in a weak South division.

Rest of the teams in the comments!
