A little bit of Magritte’s amazing vibe at the museum😍

René Magritte (1898-1967) was a famous Belgian surrealist painter❤️

👨‍🎨He studied art at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels.

🩶His childhood was marked by a family tragedy: his mother died when he was only 13 years old.

💞In 1913, he met Georgette Berger, who later became his wife. They got married in 1922, and she remained his lifelong companion and the model for many of his paintings.

🔥👨‍🎨 In 1927, he moved with his wife to Paris, where he became involved with the Surrealist movement. Three years later, they returned to Belgium.

👨‍🎨🎨🔥Magritte became well known for his unusual and mysterious paintings, which combined ordinary objects in unexpected ways. His artworks often challenged people’s perception of reality and imagination.

🖤 René Magritte died in 1967, in Brussels. Today, he is considered one of the most important surrealist artists of the 20th century.

Here I am at the René Magritte Museum in Brussels❤️

🔥 On my way to the exhibition rooms, I paused for a moment in front of a painting by Swiss contemporary artist Nicolas Party.

🔥 In 2018, the museum hosted an exhibition entitled Nicolas Party Invited at the Magritte Museum. For the occasion, Party created a series of vibrant pastel paintings and a large mural, engaging in an artistic dialogue with René Magritte’s work.

One last view of Brussels😍
But ahead of us lies the fascinating surreal world of René Magritte…

💎Of course, Brussels is not just about its charming old town and narrow cobblestone streets.
💎 It’s also a modern city of gleaming glass skyscrapers that captivate me just as much as its historic corners.

🍏🎩 One of Brussels’ most striking skyscrapers, Cardo Brussels Hotel, features a giant image of René Magritte’s famous painting The Son of Man on its façade.

🔥Standing around 75 metres tall, this giant artwork transforms the building into a spectacular tribute to Belgian surrealism. And here’s the fascinating part: it’s neither a projection nor a painting directly on the wall, but a giant printed covering applied to the façade! by @inessa_ja

Compared to the huge glass buildings of the European Parliament (see previous post), Brussels’ Old Town feels especially cosy and charming😍
And in August, it was even more beautiful, as the Shops in Bloom festival filled its streets with colourful flowers, hanging floral arrangements, and artistic installations🌸☀️🌸 by @inessa_ja

European Parliament🇪🇺
🇪🇺Brussels is more than just the capital of Belgium and a beautiful city, it’s also at the heart of the European Union.

🇪🇺The city is home to the European Parliament, where representatives from across Europe come together to discuss the issues that shape our shared future.

🇪🇺With their striking modern architecture, the Parliament buildings reflect the diversity, unity, and spirit of Europe. by @inessa_ja

Brussels is full of charming details, from ornate wrought-iron brackets to playful, sculptural signs that turn its historic streets into an open-air gallery😍 Just look up!😉 by @inessa_ja

Brussels has three main treasures: the famous peeing boy, Belgian chocolate, and delicious waffles!😁😍

🍫You’ll find little peeing boys in the windows of countless chocolate shops, while the smell of fresh waffles tempts you at every corner.

🍫Together, they perfectly capture the spirit of Brussels: a little weird, a little sweet, and absolutely impossible to resist!☕️🍫😉 by @inessa_ja

After visiting Bruges, we’re back in Brussels!❤️ These are memories from the end of August😉

One last stroll through beautiful Bruges… and then it’s time to head back to Brussels😉 by @inessa_ja

A little more about the Church of Our Lady in Bruges❤️

✨ On the first slide, you can see the tombs of Charles the Bold and Mary of Burgundy, two of the most remarkable late-medieval funerary monuments in Europe.

🔥 Charles the Bold (1433–1477) was the last Valois Duke of Burgundy, and Mary (1457–1482) was his only surviving child and heir. Their elaborate tombs reflect the power and splendor of the Burgundian court, as well as the transition from medieval to Renaissance art. by @inessa_ja

The Madonna of Bruges by Michelangelo, 1503-1505❤️

💛 This is the main masterpiece of the Church
of Our Lady in Bruges.

💛 The Madonna of Bruges is a marble sculpture depicting the Virgin Mary and the infant Jesus.
Unlike traditional sculptures, Jesus stands between Mary’s knees instead of being held in her arms.

🔥❤️ The sculpture was purchased by two wealthy merchants from Bruges.
They acquired the sculpture in Italy and donated it to the Church of Our Lady in Bruges in 1514.

🔥🔥 It was the first sculpture by Michelangelo to leave Italy during his lifetime.

🔥🩶 Interestingly, it was stolen by the Nazis during World War II and hidden in an Austrian salt mine, but it was recovered in 1945 and returned to Bruges. by @inessa_ja
