if you haven’t read it, i highly recommend bell hooks’ book “all about love.” it’s something that i know that i will re-read as my understanding of myself and love evolves. in it, she beautifully addresses grief.
this is a season of intense mourning for so many of us, myself included. in this video, i share my own experience with grief, how i honor those i’ve lost, and how you can best support someone who is grieving. #grief #mourning #bellhooks #healingjourney by @infinitely_coco

I am currently in my mastery phase. Digging deeper into ancestral wisdom and creativity.

I have finally found my purpose - to help others heal themselves using various methods that have helped me.

I recently had the good fortune of visiting the @irisvanherpen exhibition @brooklynmuseum. I gasped at so many of her creations. Her brilliance, discipline, and skill were displayed in every garment. She has certainly put in her 10,000 hours.

A 1993 scientific study on elite violinists by psychologist Anders Ericsson, found that top violinists had accumulated about 10,000 hours of practice by age 20. Author Malcolm Gladwell popularized the concept in his 2008 book, Outliers, using examples like the Beatles and Bill Gates to argue that elite success comes from massive time investment rather than innate talent. Critics and original researchers point out that biological advantages, natural aptitude, and strong external support (i.e. supportive families or good coaches) are still vital components of mastery.

I’ve cleared the distractions from my life so that I can fully don the mantle of mastery. I’ve found incredible teachers in every discipline in which I am currently studying.

I am a former Army Captain, a 200 RYT yoga instructor, mat pilates instructor, and meditation teacher. I have my Master’s degree in business from @virginia.tech, my Bachelor’s Degree from @georgetownuniversity, my HS diploma from @hotchkissschool. Finally, I am an @oliverscholars and School Year Abroad France alumna. And, now, I am in an unofficial PhD learning all the things that bring me joy and will be added to my toolkit of offerings.

In time, I will return to the jungle to continue my training with living legends. And, when I’m ready, I will share what’s appropriate, when it’s appropriate.

I am putting in the work. Are you?

You are loved. You are love. 🦋

when life becomes challenging and the unknowns overwhelm me, i take a deep breath and remember that this is the life that i prayed for.
be uncompromising about what you want your life to look and feel like. then, do everything you can to make it so. you aren’t helpless. you are powerful beyond measure.

while there’s a freedom in being untethered to one location, it ain’t for the faint of heart.

living nomadically since April has humbled me and refined me in ways that I could not have expected.

it made me reflect on my learned hoarding habits. i had such a hard time letting go of sentimental gifts or clothes that i never wore because of the time in my life it represented. now, i can donate or throw things away when i know that it’s reached its maximum impact in my life. it took a lot to get there but i saw that i was carrying so many unnecessary things around. that were slowing me way down.

i’ve also recognized the ways that i’ve held onto the idealized versions of situations, place, and people. and, have truly learned to set myself free from that mental and spiritual baggage.

this is the freest and most authentically that i’ve ever been in my life. i’m grateful for this time and, after a lot of kicking and screaming, trust the process. dammit. 😅 bob marley wasn’t lying when he said that every little thing is gonna be alright.

(thanks once again to my friends and family who have been my guides on this journey. who have listen to me process. thanks for your patience and unwavering belief in me. love you tantissimo. 😘

what or who have you holding onto that is holding you back from embodying your greatness?

How has your armour prevented your growth?

Stepping into vulnerability can help create and maintain healthy connections, community, and creativity.

Thank your fears for a job well done. Time for them to take a back seat to the beauty of a living courageously.

You are love. You are loved. 💜

trust the fall.
surrender to the changing seasons.
allow yourself to release
the people, places, habits, beliefs that do not align with who you are and who you want to be.
nobody said it was easy.
give yourself grace.
growth is painful.

fall so deeply in love with yourself that it’s impossible not to be yourself and express yourself authentically.
my return to self has been a beautiful one.
thankful to see myself and allow others to see me.
i was afraid to be the fullest expression of myself for fear of rejection and/or judgement.
now, i know that rejection is just redirection and nothing but a blessing.
you never know who you might inspire by having the courage to be yourself!
you are love. you are loved. 💜 🌈

everyone deserves a peaceful life. 🍉 if you disagree, please refer to the above. ⬆️

what does peace look like for you?

what does fulfillment look like?

for me, it’s a regulated nervous system and the freedom to choose how and with whom i spend my time. and, daily moments of whimsy. 🧚🏾‍♀️ by @infinitely_coco

feed what feeds your soul.
stop waiting for someone else to give you your flowers.

create on your schedule. not the algorithm’s.
remember your roots.
live as a love letter to yourself and those who poured into you.
nurture community with those who will bring you to new heights.

i have loved rock music since i was about 9 or 10 years old when i fell in love with little richard, beatles, jimi hendrix, led zeppelin, the beach boys while listening to the radio.

growing up in the 90s, my tastes evolved. i became a grunge girlie. i loveeeed hole, nirvana, silverchair, radiohead, soundgarden, smashing pumpkins, pearl jam and wished that i could go see them live. i felt the music in my bones.

i watched wayne’s world and wanted to be cassandra— a bad ass babe in a rock and roll band. while i never made that dream a reality, rock music of all eras remain my musical home base. my comfort.

my mother said it was just a phase. i was bullied by my black peers for liking so-called white music even though the genre was created by black musicians…

i’ve had the privilege to see greats like radiohead, soundgarden, nine inch nails, dead pioneers, incubus, metallica, and many others. i’m grateful to the genre for giving me a safe place to put my angst, love, and joy.

i’m currently learning how to play guitar. i named her abbey after my favorite beatles album “abbey road.” excited for where this journey takes me.

may you honor what lights your soul on fire.

anyone else bullied for their taste in music because of your race?
