The adidas INFINITE TRAILS can never truly be captured in words — it’s the relentless rhythm of steps on the „Kogels“, the electric energy of our global community, and the unscripted moments that stay with us long after the race tattoos fade.

What an incredible weekend! Our deepest gratitude goes out to every single volunteer—your energy, smiles, and dedication made adidas INFINITE TRAILS so much more than just a race.

More than 350 helping hands from across the Gastein Valley powered this event. Many have been with us since 2018, while others caught the trail spirit for the very first time.

Conditions were tough this year, and while our runners stayed on the move, our incredible marshals braved the wind and rain to keep everyone safe.

From course marshals and route markers to aid station crews, logistics and registration hands to rescue forces—we couldn’t do this without you.

We are more than a race. 🧡 adidas INFINITE TRAILS is about connection, shared miles and the communities that make race weekend what it is.

For many running crews, the journey starts long before Gastein: training together, inspiring each other, travelling as a team and finally sharing the trails on race day. And every year, we see more and more communities joining us. 🌍🏔️

Everyone takes something unique home from the Gastein Valley—an unforgettable summit moment, new friendships, or maybe… a namesake! 🐮🐮❤️

When @kathawa9 of @runnershamburg signed up for her very first trail run—our 30K INDIVIDUAL—she set out with her friend @amyrr_22 with a simple goal: no target time, just cross the finish line and be proud.

But trail running is full of unexpected magic.

Stopping at the second aid station, the Feldinghütte, to use the restroom, the hut owners greeted them with pure local hospitality and asked: „Do you want to see something special?“

They led them to a trailer, lifted the tarp, and there they were: twin calves, born just an hour earlier! 🥺✨

As Katharina asked if the calves had names, the hut owner turned the question around and asked for theirs first. Pointing to their race bibs, they introduced themselves as Katharina and Amelie.

Without missing a beat, the owner smiled and declared: „Then these two are named Kathi and Amy.“

As they got ready to head back out onto the trails, he added: „Looks like you’ll have to run again next year to visit them—you’re connected now!“

This is what adidas INFINITE TRAILS is all about. It’s not about personal bests—it’s about the incredible volunteers, the local community, and the stories that bind us to these mountains forever. 🏔️✨

Nobody had them on their radar—and that’s what makes this sport so special. ⛰️✨

Meet TEAM Hofladen Hoislbauer - TR-Gastein: Thomas Schneider, Christoph Dankl, and Jakob Gruber. Friends since kindergarten, local trail runners, and hard workers on their home farms—they entered @infinitetrailsrace purely for the joy of running together and taking on Gastein’s ‘Kogels’ as a team.

Proudly sponsored by Christoph’s parents and named after their family farm’s organic shop @hoislbauerngut these boys prove that genuine passion and good local fuel can power big achievements! 🪵🍞🧀

Balancing training between farm work, daily chores, and life, they never expected to walk away with a title. But with a strong performance—finishing 7th in the Men’s category and 8th overall—these three childhood friends proved to be the best local team on race day, taking home the coveted Local Hero Trophy! 🏆

This unique hardware—a massive, three-piece wooden disc representing Loops S, M, and L—is awarded to the top local team from the Gastein Valley.

“Until the award ceremony, we had no idea we’d win anything. It was an indescribable feeling—and sharing that moment with childhood friends makes it truly special.”

Their names are now permanently carved into Gastein trail history. As for 2027? They’re ready to bring the grit, team spirit, and local pride back to defend their title against a stacked local field.

Crossing the finish line is always a rollercoaster.

The ’what just happened?‘
The ‘is it over now?
The answer to your ‚why‘

The relief.
The finally.
The calm.
The exhaustion.
The shutdown.
The happiness.
The tears.

Whether it’s 5K or 100K.
It will hit you.

This year’s edition of the @infinitetrailsrace brought some extra challenges: extreme, varying temperatures — from freezing rain in the mountains to warm and humid conditions in the valley.

Congrats to all the runners.

Infinite Trails 2026 📸🧡

This year, the weather surprised us once again, just in a completely different way. Last year, we had snow and bright sunshine. This time, we were greeted by plenty of fog and rain.

I had already made a little plan in my head about how I wanted to photograph the race and brought several heavy telephoto lenses up the mountain. In the end, I barely used them. Instead, I found myself shooting almost everything wide, getting closer to the runners, looking for details and playing around a lot with flash and slow shutter. Something I rarely use in outdoor photography.

And I think that’s one of the most important things about being an outdoor photographer: you can plan as much as you want, but you never know what the weather will give you.

Especially when an event or production is planned months in advance, you have to stay flexible and be ready to react to whatever conditions you find.

Sometimes the weather ruins the shot you had in mind.
And sometimes, it gives you something even better.

You just have to see it. 🌧️

✨ INFINITE TRAILS through the lens of our photographers ✨

As one of the world’s most renowned trail running photographers, 📸 @iancorlessphotography has been an essential part of @adidas INFINITE TRAILS since 2019—shooting action on all our legendary „Kogels“ over the years. 🏔️

This year, Ian spent Friday night up at the Gamskarkogelhütte alongside our course marshals and mountain rescue crews to document the 60K, Loop S, and Loop M runners from Europe’s highest grass mountain: the Gamskarkogel (2,467 m). Nature’s unpredictable weather call brought out images that differ dramatically from previous years. 🌧️

Known globally for traveling to the world’s most breathtaking places to document ultra-athletes at their limit, Ian’s mastery in showcasing raw determination against epic mountain backdrops shines through once again in his best-of selection.
