Resentment feels like it’s about them, what they did, what they keep doing. But most of the time it’s actually about you, the moment you swallowed it instead of saying it. Someone crosses a line, asks too much, takes too much, and instead of naming it, you go along with it anyway. No conflict, no big deal, you tell yourself. Except it doesn’t disappear. It gets stored. And it happens again, and again, and every time you stay quiet, you’re adding to a debt they don’t even know exists. That’s the whole pattern: you never sent the invoice, so they never knew they owed anything. Then one day it comes out sideways, sarcasm, silence, a blow-up over something small that was never really about the small thing. Here’s the fix. The next time something crosses a line, say it in the moment, small and plain, no speech required. “That didn’t sit right with me.” “I need you to ask me first.” You’re not starting a fight. You’re just sending the invoice on time, before the balance gets high enough to burn the whole thing down. by @infinity.continuum

Attachment theory > considering music and lyrics…

Most music. Represents anxious leaning lyrics and messages. Very few represent the avoidant attachment styles.

Next time you are listening and relating to a song about love and relationships…pause and consider…

What are you relating to here?

This isn’t an assumption or conclusion that you might be anxious attached… But there is a possibility you’re relating to something a little bit anxious and it’s worth exploring a little deeper.

Here’s the difference between reacting and responding, no clinical language needed. Reacting is when something happens and your mouth moves before your mind does. You said it, and you don’t even fully know why yet. Responding is the same trigger, but there’s a half-second of space in between, just enough to choose what happens next.

That’s it. That’s the whole concept. Not a diagnosis, not a personality trait, just whether there’s a gap between what happened and what you did about it.

Most people think they’re “just passionate” or “just honest” when really there was no gap at all, the words came out before any choosing happened. And here’s the part that actually matters: you can’t shrink the trigger. You can’t control what your partner says or does. The only thing you can ever actually build is the gap. by @infinity.continuum

One day, I hope you meet someone patient and compassionate, who’s willing to love you while you unlearn survival.

I’m Greg, founder of @infinity.continuum . I help people and couples stop feeling lost and start integrating with all of who they already are.

Here’s the part nobody says out loud. When you’ve spent years in survival mode, love can feel unsafe. You keep people at arm’s length. You expect to get hurt, so you pull away first. That kept you safe once. It’s also what keeps love out now.

That’s why healing experiences matter. Some people call them corrective experiences. It’s when someone is patient with you, and you finally get a different ending than the one you expected. You share something real and they stay. You mess up and they don’t leave. Every one of those teaches you something new: this is safe.

But here’s the catch. Someone else can offer that gift. You have to be able to receive it. And that starts inside you. It’s deciding for yourself to do the healthier, more secure thing, even and especially when it’s tough. Telling the truth instead of hiding. Staying in the room when you want to leave. Being patient with yourself instead of beating yourself up.

When you choose that on the inside, you can accept the healing when it shows up on the outside. It’s very important that you let them in. That’s how you unlearn survival.

If this one hit close to home, like this, follow for more, and DM me your questions. I’ll answer. by @infinity.continuum

Do you simply think you’re being helpful? Or are you truly being helpful?

This is one place in relationship where discernment is really critical. Being helpful in the way your partner needs is good. Being helpful in a way that you think matters when it really doesn’t… That can become a problem over time.

I don’t want to discourage being helpful… But I do wanna encourage being helpful only when you are in fact, tuned to the situation and it does actually matter and impact the outcome.

Someone telling a story that they’re never gonna remember after today is not a place where correction is necessary…

Be careful with your help, and you won’t cause disconnection with your loved one.

Do you talk her “just tell me what to do!” Ever? Yea, that’s not helpful. It’s passive, not present, and burdensome.

Have you pushed her away. And then are upset she is distanced?

Per Merriam Webster.

TRANSFORM:

a
: to change in composition or structure
b
: to change the outward form or appearance of
c
: to change in character or condition

Transformation is big. Ttransformation is scary. Transformation is actually in contrast with True healing.

Integration of all the things you already are is actual and true healing.

Integration. Not transformation. Transformation is a muddy word.

Transformation(tran(t)sfərˈmāSHən): is a complete or dramatic change in the form, appearance, nature, or character of something or someone.

This idea suggests you must change some significant piece or pieces of you in order to achieve the outcome. You don’t need to have any significant change… You already have everything in you… Let’s just find it together…gently.

Accountability, responsibility, apologies… Even defensiveness… It all gets muddy until you slow down and really think about how to deliver the best experience to your loved one. Let me know what you think in the comments here.

The mirror can have 2 angles. Are you seeing both clearly? Or considering the obvious and easy angle for you?

Learn the words, language, guidance…? Sure. Apply it. Don’t just learn it. If you have learned it and are now using it as an excuse, or leveraging in arguments against your romantic partner…you haven’t healed. You’re just a better worded version of unhealed. by @infinity.continuum
