Two steps forward one step back lately. I had to get a few welds double passed because the middle crossmember also serves as an overlay on the joint. Unfortunately, I was impatient and didn't let it cool enough between passes and the rails ended up pulling more than anticipated. So when I went to put the crossmember in, it wasn't remotely close to fitting. So had to cut the tacks on the crossmember and cut the welds on the rails. Then clamp it all back in the jigs and weld it back (correctly). It's a learning process and just a bit frustrating but projects like this rarely go perfect from the start.

Photos are of the corrected frame rails with the rear crossmember/winch mount in, as well as the middle rear crossmember. I'm a big fan of designing to have components do multiple things, as I believe it results in a clearer end product, so this crossmember is A) a tie between the rails, B) overlays on the weld joint C)body mount surface, D) the front mount for the fuel cell. Talk about killing 2 birds (or 4) with 1 stone!

My ocd struck today. This piece serves three purposes... Crossmember for the frame rails, a mounting place for the fuel cell, and a place for two body mounts. I welded in end caps today and blended all the corners just for a more polished look.

Now we're moving! I finished up the rear crossmember through tubes for mounting the rear winch and bumper, and moved on to the frame rails. The rails are all tacked and ready to be put into the main jigs tomorrow. Should start looking like a chassis finally!

Quick video of making the pass through for the rear winch. The pass through is actually two individual pieces of .120 steel that I tigged together, prior to dropping it into the cutout in the rear crossmember. Once it was in place, I burned it in and then spent a few hours sanding, filing, buffing, and filling low spots until the edges came out perfectly blended.

One of the last details I designed into the chassis was a hidden rear 10,000lb winch. It tucks up into the frame rails and the rope passes through the rear crossmember. Today I got the pass through welded on and blended. I originally planned on just buffing the welds, but I got a bit carried away with blending the pass through in 😅

So what's your guilty pleasure when doing mindless work? I, admittedly, listen to way too much Nickleback when prepping a few 100 parts for welding. I'm a child of the 90s and 2000s so I can't help it, no matter how much you all hate them 😂

First few parts are headed this way courtesy of @warnerwerks. 4130 Lower axle-side link mounts and some 4130 parts to the upper frame-side link mounts. Anxious to get everything back from laser and start burning it all on. by @infinityfabrication

Making progress on the shop Pro R! I didn't like the mount that came with the radio and intercom, plus it didmt accommodate a few other things. So out came the paper template, then pull measurements into @adskfusion360, make a few revisions, and onto the @arclightdynamics table to make this custom panel to mount the radios/intercom, mode switch, @switch.pros.official RCR-12, 12v outlet, and the driver push to talk! From concept to design, to fabrication, to in -house powdercoat, this was developed solely in house!

Just for curiosity sake, we weighed our bone stock 2 seat Pro R Ultimate with a 1/4 tank of fuel. The only changes so far are the 35" Roxxzilla which are 15lbs heavier per corner than the stock 32" tires. Pretty heavy gal! by @infinityfabrication

It's a @prpseats kinda day with our Pro R. Adding 5.2 Camlock harnesses for safety and some door bags for much needed storage!
