Before America was America, there was New Haven.As the U.S. celebrates its 250th birthday, here’s a reminder that the Elm City has been part of the nation’s story from the very beginning.In honor of America250, here are three incredible ways New Haven is woven into American history:🇺🇸 John Trumbull’s original The Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776 hangs at the Yale University Art Gallery.📜 One of just 26 known copies of the Dunlap Broadside, the first printed Declaration of Independence, is on display at the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library.✍️ Roger Sherman, New Haven’s own Founding Father, was the only signer of all four founding documents.
