#tb to this amazing day at @aquariumwilhelmshaven 🌊

Ever since I first saw Liopleurodon in the original BBC Walking with Dinosaurs back in the day, I’ve been completely obsessed with this thing. Sure, WWD took some serious creative liberty by sizing it up to a mind-blowing length…but even at its actual length of 5 to 7 meters it was an absolute beast!

Seeing the exhibit at Aquarium Wilhelmshaven was such a cool experience. Getting to stand in front of something that connects right back to what sparked my love for prehistoric marine life in the first place never gets old 🙏🏼

Baby Raptor Hatchling 🥚

Just finished another one of the small ones. It’s cast from the original Stan Winston Maquette/Puppet. I think I‘m getting better with painting them, experimented more with inks on this one and I think the translucent effect is perfect this time!

I used the movie version as inspiration, like it would look right after hatching.

Glass eyes were done by the great @vit_klatt 🎨

What do you think? ☺️

I honestly never thought I would actually have to make a post like this.

My page has always been a place to share art, celebrate our shared fascination for dinosaurs, and connect with a passionate community. While I welcome open discussions and differing artistic preferences, recent events have completely crossed the line.

Lately, this behavior escalated to the point where someone personally harassed me under my company’s professional social media account through different accounts created by the same person, spreading false and defamatory statements. Slander and targeted harassment are things I will simply not tolerate.

Because this platform directly impacts people’s work, professional reputations, and livelihoods, I feel obligated to take a firm stance. Moving forward, any form of harassment, trolling, or defamatory conduct will result in an immediate block and appropriate further steps.

To everyone who continues to keep this community respectful, constructive, and inspiring: thank you for your ongoing support. Also a big thanks to @dinocomissions for posting about this topic as well. I appreciate all the support ❤️

The famous veggiesaurus 🍃

In 1993, a giant walked onto the big screen and changed movie history forever. But if you look at the paleontology behind the magic, that iconic Jurassic Park animal is not what you think it is.

Strictly speaking, the dinosaur in the film is Giraffatitan brancai, not Brachiosaurus altithorax 😅 When the fossils were first excavated in Tendaguru, Tanzania, they were classified under the genus Brachiosaurus. Decades later, researchers realized the African species was anatomically distinct with a much more vertical orientation, a prominent crest, and different limb proportions and assigned it to its own genus, Giraffatitan 🦕

When the team at Stan Winston Studio set out to design the digital dinosaur for the film, they based their sculpt on the world famous mounted skeleton in the Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin. The exact display I’m standing in front of in these photos 😋

The model I’m holding is the classic 1/19 scale vinyl kit by Horizon, molded directly from the original Stan Winston Studio maquette with only a slight posture tweak. Its sheer size makes it an absolute standout in the collection. I really like the paint job I gave it a while back, but I’ve been staring at it lately, thinking about touching up a few areas and giving it a paint update to refine some detail.

What do you think: leave the paint job as it is, or go in for round two? 🦖🎨

Ever went ammonite fossil hunting? 🐙

Deep underwater, 80 million years ago, a shell the size of a minivan was drifting through the dark sea.

Parapuzosia seppenradensis is the absolute heavyweight champion of ammonites.

The original specimen was dug up near Seppenrade back in 1895 and ended up right in Münster at the @lwlnaturkundemuseum . Fast forward 130 years: the team built a full-scale 1:1 model based on the latest research. Since soft parts don’t fossilize, they used living cephalopods as a blueprint giving it giant eyes, ten tentacles, and a dark shell built to survive the crushing pressure 100 meters down.

Swipe to the second slide: that’s me posing next to the actual fossil back in 2024. Seeing those massive, rock-solid chambers in person puts into perspective just how alien ocean life used to be.

Uuuuh aaaah that’s how it always starts…

As I’m toying around with making bases for my Maquettes I grabbed some quick pics with my phone of my Stego. I always felt the pictures I took on the white table made it look too green due to lighting and the default iPhone picture edit it does once you take the photo lol.

So here you handed the true colors of my Paintjob.

The bases will be themed like the environment the animal is seen in the movie. Stego will be the first one.

What do you think?
