POSTS STORIES REELS
Two years ago, we took a leap of faith and tried to turn helplessness into action by organizing a fundraiser for our families and loved ones back home in Lebanon. We put out a call, and the community showed up in full force. Since then, we’ve continued doing what we can from oceans away, and extended our reach to our sisters and brothers across the Global South, organizing events and fundraisers for Lebanon, Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Yemen, and Indigenous communities here in Tiohtià:ke. And every single time, you showed up. Two years in, we’re still heartbroken by the atrocities continuing to unfold in Lebanon and beyond. Though it may feel discouraging at times, we are also incredibly proud of the community we’ve built together, and of all that becomes possible when we show up for one another. Join us on November 14 @cafesocialbhive in Griffintown to mark two years of Sawa 🤍. Pass by our symbolic pop-up for a kaake, a Beirut beer, a doudou shot, and a refreshed Sawa market featuring brand-new items and collections, all soundtracked by @ingridasd on the decks. Free entry. 100% of our market proceeds will go toward the fundraiser. We’re deeply grateful to Café Social B Hive for offering us their space and committing to donating 10% of the day’s proceeds as well. Funds will go toward @man_wa_salwa , an incredible Beirut-based cooperative continuing its vital work on the ground as lifesaving support for affected communities begins to wane. In keeping with our mission, a small portion will also support Palestinian initiatives and Indigenous communities. Here’s to two years together and many more to come 💫 Il y a deux ans, on a essayé de transformer notre sentiment d’impuissance en action en organisant une collecte de fonds pour nos familles et nos proches au Liban.
