Hi! 👋
.
I usually only post art to my feed, but I wanted to introduce myself. I've also heard that posting your face can help get your account back if you're ever hacked!
.
I'm Ingrid and I'm a self-taught mixed media artist and art journaler.
.
My main purpose is to be authentic, to build a community where everyone feels a sense of belonging, to inspire play and non-judgmental creativity, and to explore what it means to be human.
.
It's also important for me to share that I deeply believe that every human deserves dignity and respect, and that human rights are non-negotiable. I post a lot about this to my stories.
.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate you being here. 🧡

Still steadily working in the art journal I started the night before my daughter was born. ✨

I'm slowly putting together my fall newsletter — sign up if ya don't want to miss it (link in bio).

@katielicht had a great post recently about lowering expectations, slowing down, and actually enjoying August.. and whew, that resonated.

I've been making ICAD cards between naptimes, visits to the café, long walks, and family visits. It's been a magical summer, but I've been judging myself for not making art the same way I could before I had a whole tiny human to manage. Thanks for the reminder to let that pressure go, Katie.

Here's to tending our gardens and actually — and intentionally — enjoying the process. 🌱 by @ingridmurrayart

Playing catch up after a vacation and our girlie's first birthday!

Here's day 33/61 of ICAD, the (free) daily creative challenge that takes place every year in June-July. Learn more: @indexcardaday

My cards are inspired by Eric Carle's painted tissue paper collages. 🐛

Life's been a whirlwind lately, but I'm finally back in some semblance of a routine and made some more index cards for ICAD today. 🥳 If you're new, you can find out more about this project from @indexcardaday.

I'll start posting again tomorrow, but in the meantime, here's an art journal spread based on my theme this year (collaged painted papers a la Eric Carle).

If you're subscribed to my free, human-generated newsletter you got a peek of this back in June!

ICAD day 32/61 🌿
@indexcardaday

It's been a wild week. Between a major heatwave with temps over 100°F/37.7°C (and needing to leave our apartment), a teething baby, and prepping to go on vacation in a few days, I am exhausted and way behind on index cards. C'est la vie!

I may be able to make a few more cards before we leave, but it looks like I'll be pausing ICAD for a little bit.

I intend to finish the full 61 days, though, as I cling stubbornly to the phrase "done is better than perfect". This year, it's more about doing the thing than obsessing over an ideal outcome. I'm pretty proud of myself for sticking to it this far, because hoo boy. 😅😂
