When you start cleaning out your studio it means reducing stash you no longer use and making some tough decisions.....right? Wrong! Ooops 🤦🏼‍♀️

Sorting through my oil pastels I realised many were down to little pieces whilst others were hardly used and probably wouldn't be, not in my 'go to' range. As I intend donating the stash I no longer use I ended up with very few usable sticks, so they all went into the donate pile.

I love using oil pastels and didn't like the idea of not having them in my stash and I almost retrieved them, I'm sure I was getting withdrawal symptoms. 🤣 By the evening I could resist no longer, gave in and ordered a new set of Mungyo Oil Pastels. Not the most expensive but great quality and I'm delighted with them.

I had quite a few Sennelier in my collection and they are lovely and heavily pigmented but I find some colours a bit too buttery. The Mungyo pastels are soft without being mushy and they all seem to be of the same consistency, regardless of colour.

So far, so good!

P.S. The de-stash pile is growing. There are many things I have no interest in using again and I'm happy to let them go. Although, experience has taught me that once you get rid of something, you find yourself looking for it further down the line! by @inkylynn22

This years front door wreath is very special to me.

In the summer, I had a little Robin who would visit the back garden every day, often sitting on the fence chirping to me. After a couple of weeks, it brought another Robin to visit daily.

One day when my husband came in he told me that a Robin had flown out of our Summer wreath on the front door and had given him a fright. When I looked, there was the most meticulously crafted nest woven into the wreath and she had laid eggs. She got used to us coming and going and would fly into the tree next to the front door until we gently closed the door before returning to her nest.

They say that when a Robin visits a loved one who has passed is nearby....it's a very comforting thought.

So, when I removed our door wreath to replace it with the Christmas wreath, I wanted it to be meaningful. I lost my lovely Mum last year and I am still tending to her home and garden. Last week, while clearing the leaves, I cut some evergreen from her garden and made the wreath for our door. Everything except the thistles are from Mum's and the thistles represent Scotland, where she spent some of her happiest childhood years during the war.

I have loved making this years wreath and hopefully, it will last into the Spring months. by @inkylynn22
