Two in two days! 🙌🏻

Making a marginal dent in my vast collection that's been gathering dust since earlier this year. I had to leave some in this empty library that I spotted on my walk home from buying exotic juice this morning.

Excellent beach reads, and one unimaginative pirate romance. Ahoy! 🐬🔥

It's been a while since my last installation, and the books have been piling up at home. Noticed this little kids' book nook was looking pretty bare, so I gathered the small stack of kids' books I had on hand and made a deposit, for any youths interested in aquatic themes. Mermaids, tales of adventure, and plenty of information on whales.

Sweetly, a neighbourhood Mom and her toddler came along while I was stacking it and they took home the plastic dolphin surprise that I found a while back, as well as a few books. His name is Bobby now.

Gathered en route to the pool, because even though I have enough aquatically titled and themed books to start an unprofitable surf school I just can’t resist.

Timed it just right today: caught the tail end of the aqua aerobics class for the elderly and swam to their delightfully unhinged playlist. 🐬💦🙌🏻

Also a pause to brag about my mid-winter NZ tan, earned through long walks on various beaches looking for seashells. 🤍🐚

Tales of maritime disaster and many more gems at this delightful rare book shop in Auckland, including these books about shell collecting for this amateur conchologist. 🐚🤍 Because nerds are rarely nerdy about just one thing, and we tend to be rather obsessive about our passions. 📖

Something makes me think Heathcote Williams has some awkward feelings about whales.

But this is delightful rolling off the tongue, and a worthy aspiration in terms of energy as you move through life:

“An easy, laminar flow.
No drag, no turbulence.
A velvet energy.”

Mind you, we also now know that the Blue whale has a ten foot thick tongue and seven gallon testicles, so do with that information what you will, including converting it to a modern system of measurement. 🐋

Also locally available: plenty of wine, shells, and good vibes if you like those kinds of things. Don’t come though: it sucks here and I prefer the beaches plenty spacious and limited competition for parking. 😘

Be prepared! If being a Girl Guide 🇨🇦 taught me anything besides how to hustle cookies and tie knots, it could be easily summed up in that motto.

Information on all matter of concerning situations for those who may find themselves in dire straights at sea. Let’s hope nobody needs to abandon ship in the middle of the ocean - that’s basically a nightmare. Or the beginning of a daring tale of survival, should you live to tell the story.

(Nerdy side note: hyphenating sig-nals on the cover is a design issue that I cannot get on board with…)
