The sutras are a series of statements to guide a yoga student to mastery over the mind.
There are 8 components of yoga, one of which is the yamas.

Yama means restraint. There are 5 yamas:
Ahimsa is non-violence
Satya is truthfulness
Asteya is non-stealing
Bramacharya is continence
Aparigraha is non-possessiveness

Which of these comes most naturally to you? Which is a challenging practice?

Start your Friday clear after a comprehensive yoga practice including centering, asana, rest, pranayama, and meditation. Intentions are set weekly to focus mental and emotional content. Experience the effects of a yoga practice by sitting with how you are at the beginning and end of class. More than just a stress reliever, learn how each practice relates practically to your life and how you interact in it.

Special attention will be paid to physical alignment and muscle tone to provide safety in postures. Variations and props are encouraged to create an experience beyond discomfort.

See you in the morning! The intention is centered and deep.

When was the last time you practiced yoga not to fix some perceived issue, but to enjoy being embodied? To enjoy the infinite space of your mind? The loving support of community?

I’m teaching Friday Exhale at Inner Bliss tomorrow. There will be techniques, intention, and focus. One of the techniques is mindset and our perspectives shift more easily when we are in a playful or unjudgmental space.

See you tomorrow 💕

I am delighted to inform you that I will be taking over Friday Exhale, a yoga class at Inner Bliss. I will be teaching on Fridays at 10am while the class’s regular teacher is on sabbatical.

I will be at Bliss (second floor of the Stockade Inn) in Schenectady beginning this Friday the 23rd.

See you then! Or on Zoom! There is a virtual class as well.

We will be graced by the presence of Universal Sounds tomorrow at 6:30pm.

The sounds of the gongs and singing bowls facilitate the movement of energy through the body. This movement invites a meditative space and creates an opportunity for increased vitality, healing, expanded awareness and access to higher consciousness.

The experience may be different for each person. It is our intention to create and hold a clear and safe space for all to enjoy.

Get to the library or your local bookstore for your copy of Being Mortal by Atul Gawande. It is a thoughtful exploration of aging, independence, mortality, and what it means to live well—even as our circumstances change.

Mary Clare will be leading a discussion group on it Wednesday October 28th. Come having read as much of the book as you’re able. Rather than analyzing it chapter by chapter, we’ll use the book as a doorway into conversation:
What matters most?
What does it mean to live well?
How do we navigate change, choice, connection, and the realities of being human?

Bring your thoughts, your questions, and your own lived experience. All are welcome.
