Staying committed to community building is not easy but it is ALWAYS worth it. My life’s work and mission is to create educational spaces for young people to learn about our history and cultivate pride in who they are. For the past 11 years I have been honored to build and grow initiatives from Baltimore to Havana, Cuba to Cali,Colombia and beyond; all centered on connecting Black folks globally. Every year my organization participates in @cllctivly ‘s annual day of giving that falls in Black August & Black Philanthropy month. It ALSO happens to always fall on my Birthday (tomorrow 8/7) 🦁❤️ Very appropriate because anyone who knows me knows that I loveeeee the work I do with @africandiasporaalliance and it is in direct alignment with my life purpose. So tomorrow I ask that you all support my latest mission within ADA: 💫 Liberation Seeds: a school located in Baltimore,MD following in the legacies of freedom school and implementing Black liberation & African Centered pedagogies. We want to move beyond workshops & after school programs to work towards building a school: FOR US AND BY US. I also encourage you to check out the over 100 Black-led orgs participating! Mainly small grassroots organizations who dedicated to serving the needs of our people. A huge thank you to all those who have supported over the past decade! Now it’s time to build an institution that will last for decades to come. With Gratitude, Hope, and Solidarity, Moriah P Ray #cllctivgive #freedomschools #baltimore by @innerpeace33
Thank You @muse.360 for inviting us to partner with you on a powerful weekend honoring the life of Toni Cade Bambara. It was truly an HONOR! This first iteration of our Freedom School is only the beginning and just a glimpse of what’s possible when we intentionally pour into our youth. From conversations on community, culture, and care… to moments of joy, pride, and connection! This is the kind of space we’re committed to continue building. May the spirit of Toni Cade Bambara guide us as we develop our workshops into something bigger, deeper, and more consistent for our children and our communities! We look forward to growing with you! 🌍✨ by @innerpeace33
🗣️🗣️ A community offering for the ENTIRE FAMILY Free Tickets to see an incredible documentary while your children have the opportunity to learn & grow too! We are extremely excited to partner with @muse.360 for a weekend honoring the legacy and impact of Toni Cade Bambara. 📽️✨ Toni Cade Bambara taught us that liberation isn’t just a theory but it’s something we build through how we care for one another. We know that for parents and caregivers, showing up for the movement often requires a community that shows up for them. That’s why we are hosting the Lor Liberators Freedom School during the Baltimore premiere of TCB’s School of Organizing @mdffparkway . 📚✊🏾 While loved ones engage with the film and Bambara’s radical legacy the young people will be in their own space of liberation learning, playing, and being cared for by Youth of The Diaspora facilitators! by @innerpeace33

Life has many things that come in seasons, eras, decades, centuries, and I’m glad we share all that. Happy Birthday @innerpeace33 by @innerpeace33
3. SHAMING THE PEOPLE AND NOT THE SYSTEM. LEAVE MY ANCESTORS OUT OF THIS. If you are shaming people for not engaging the system more than you are shaming a system that has YET to engage and serve the people SHAME ON YOU. The people deserve basic human rights and the system has yet to provide that. I am by no means a reformist nor do I believe “this is what my ancestors died for.” My ancestors died to be liberated not held captive by a two party system that is chronically ABUSIVE as Black folks continue to support a party that has yet to ever serve our best interest. It’s not working for us. It wasn’t working for us with Obama, it’s not working for us w/ Trump, and it most likely won’t work for us w/ Biden. Forcing and shaming Black folks into believing this country serves our best interest is ABUSIVE. Before y’all blow up my comments -yes I voted for Biden - no - I don’t like him or Kamala. Engaging in this binary electoral system is violent af and I reluctantly engaged in it in the name of “harm reduction” …if you can even call it that? B/c all of this ish is harmful Fin 😅 Swipe right. Share what you like. Comment b/c shadow banning is real 🗣 S/o to mi hermana en la lucha @manifestjasmine for the gorgeous collages! She makes them by hand as personal cards dm her for a custom one 🌍🦋 S/o to @oriire w/ the consistent hilarious and educational content following him is a MUST by @innerpeace33
😌🌞 A Moodboard. A photo dump? A Rant? Idk. Elections have me so sick ya’ll. What has me more disgusted than being surrounded by Trump signs, alongside Kimberly Klacik, in my majority white conservative neighborhood is the misguided and harmful shaming and blaming I am witnessing 😓😓 1. THIS ISN”T THE FIRST illegitimate ELECTION.There is no FAIR or JUST election on stolen land. Everyone is concerned about Trump attempting to sabotage the election/ cheat etc. and the only thing that continues to come to my mind is how we are literally occupying STOLEN LAND and how every single election in the existence of “United States” history has been illegitimate. I’m tired of indigenous erasure. BTW African = indigenous - I know a lot of our ideas of what it means to be indigenous are rooted in anti-Blackness let’s work on that - s/o to @insolidarityofficial & @cheyennewj 2. WHITE WOMEN&WET NURSES I’m still breast feeding Layla and on a daily basis I think about how our ancestors were forced to do this for white mothers. Lately I can’t help but think about how much damage white women have caused and are causing and continue to get away with as they just carry on with their lives. From the DAILY mental violence our students are facing in the classroom w/ 76% of public school teachers being ww, to 53% of ww voting for Trump, to the Karen’s gone wild, to personal experiences I have had growing up in majority white institutions surrounded by white women who were obsessed w/ my Blackness - and low key still are. I see y’all watching my stories and NOT saying SHIT as Black people continue to suffer. Your silence is violence but in all honesty I don’t want you to say shit. Reparations will do,please and thank you. S/o to the ONE white classmate who donated to ADA out of the DOZENS I had including- so called “best friends.” S/o to the closeted Trump supporters / and s/o to the Biden supporters who think that makes them less racist. I went to an all girls white feminist private school - and let me tell y’all its all a FRONT - if you aren’t talking reparations - you aren’t talking liberation. Peridot. I’ll @ some Black orgs/ and people you can start w/ in part 2 😅😄👍🏾 by @innerpeace33
Happy Juneteenth! 👁👁🥁🌿🌿🌞 Couple of thoughts that I hope you take the time to read and share as we work towards DECENTERING whiteness today and everyday. Today was NOT the day that white folks finally “freed” my ancestors. Nor is it the day that they “gave” them their freedom. AMERIKKKA NEVER GAVE MY ANCESTORS SHIT. Today was the day that my ancestors TOOK the freedom that they fought for, THEMSELVES. The white washed historical narrative of enslavement in the Americas will have you thinking that Abraham Lincoln and white slave abolitionist GAVE us our freedom. When the reality is that our ancestors were RESISTING and ORGANIZING REBELLION EVERY SINGLE DAY. We were the first slave abolitionist and we were actively a part of our liberation. Of course they want us to think that they “SET US FREE” and completely ignore the German Coast Uprising in New Orleans where nearly 500 ENSLAVED AFRICANS formed a militia and revolted against their masters or Denmark Vesey’s plans to revolt and head to Haiti where formerly enslaved Africans freed themselves and offered assistance to anyone in the diaspora wanting to do the same. So today - like everyday - I encourage you to say fuck that narrative and honor your ancestors by acknowledging that the ONLY reason chattel enslavement was formerly abolished was THANKS TO OUR RESISTANCE. Anyone who wants to learn more about our ancestors rebellion in the Americas hit me up! I would love to share sources about how chopping slave masters heads off led to the freedom we are celebrating today 🔪🥁❤️🗣 by @innerpeace33
“LET THE FIRE BURN” The words of the Mayor of Philadelphia in response to the blaze caused by the state sanctioned bomb dropped on the home of black liberation organization MOVE - knowing that people were in the house INCLUDING children. An attempt to organize my thoughts below 🙃🔥 1. Black liberation requires transferring collective rage into collective strategic organizing. NEVER EVER will I discredit the role of protests, burning it all up, and disrupting the system via raiding stores and seeking redistribution of wealth with force BUT we know that it is not enough- it is a temporary disruption not a permanent one. It slows down the monster it doesn’t kill it. Yes, let the fire burn but are we ready to BUILD once the smoke clears? 2. There are people who are actively studying, building, and doing the work to liberate our people - support those people reach out to them. THERE IS SPACE FOR EVERYONE. Organizers role is to work w/ the community to make use of everyone’s gift. 3. STOP BEING REACTIONARY - every time something is set on fire along comes the temporary acts of solidarity via a hashtag or petition. Maybe even sending some $$$ to an org on the ground - in this case the one who has gotten the most is NOT BLACK LED (Minnesota Freedom Fund) THE SOLUTION= SUPPORT BLACK ORGANIZERS BEFORE SHIT POPS OFF. WE NEED THE COMMUNITY SUPPORT ALL YEAR ROUND @africandiasporaalliance 4. Be CRITICAL with your $ capital as @heberbrown3 put it- it’s not enough to support black owned business if the black owned business supplier is a white supremacist - you own a catering company - support black farmers - you run a school - support black educators / curriculum curators - you have a black owned clothing line - find a black printer 5. White supremacy is a globalized system therefore it requires transnational solidarity ! Translation: When 14 year old #joãopedro was gunned down in Brazil WE NEEDED TO ACTIVELY SHUT IT DOWN THE SAME WAY. The companies that are PRODUCING THE WEAPONS murdering OUR people are the same + the ideology that legitimatizes our bloodshed was created by the same descandants.from Cuba- to Brazil- to Colombia - to the U.S (continued in comments) 😅 by @innerpeace33
quarantine&build 🌞🌌🌻👁 Can we make a pact? Pretty pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Can we promise one another to never allow things to go back to the way they were? I know I know I know we can’t wait to get back outside, to go to brunch, to hit the gym and for things to go back to “normal” but I’m begging you to dare yourself to reimagine a new world where black sovereignty is normal. black healing is normal. black liberation is normal. black alliances are normal. It all starts with us determining what we want to take with us to the new world, then asking what we are willing to leave behind (the hard part), and lastly the ways of living we left behind as a people and we should go back to (my fave). I’m going to start with ways of living I want us to go back to in the new world/// IN THE NEW WORLD IT WILL BE NORMAL TO 🌍👁 Love the earth prioritizing her in all that we do Honor and take care of our elders not just in times of crisis but in our daily lives Call on / Listen to / and Obey our Ancestors Breastfeed in public Barter / exchange goods and services vs. solely relying on PAPER 💵 as capital Live off the land (we wouldn’t have to be worried about store shelves being “empty” if we never left the land) Trust midwives / trained healers / doulas more than institutions that continue to kill us / test on us / degrade us Be fluid and not conform to gender binaries Yes, I know this won’t happen overnight / it might not even be in my lifetime but I know that each effort I put towards creating the new world will benefit generations to come. Layla Amandla’s bright eyes keeps me believing and working towards building it. What do you want to bring to the new world? What inspires you to believe we can create one? The first step in building our new world is visualizing it 👁 dime tú? Comment Below and lets have a conversation beyond our oppression and start imagining what liberation feels like 🦋🦋🦋🐣🐥🐥 #100waystoblackliberation by @innerpeace33

New Life 🌞🌍🌺 I feel so honored to have this experience. Being Laylas Mommy is unlike anything I ever imagined. I did all the reading and google searches in the world but nothing could’ve prepared me for this. I am still trying to wrap my head around it and put words to this experience. Here’s my shot 🌞🌷❤️ Immense Gratitude - for those who have held space for me during this transition - even when I couldn’t hold space for them anymore in the same way. For surrounding me with love and understanding, checking on me - sending prayers - and just all around good vibes. I am grateful for my village. These past 7 months have been transformative in so many ways. I have learned so much about myself but also about my loved ones. Layla’s welcome party was PERFECT thank you for everyone who contributed and came out. Divinity - I can’t believe Layla was the size of a little frijole and now she is here in my arms. Through this experience I feel closer to God than I ever have. My body was transformed into a portal between two worlds. Layla grew in my body for 9 months and now I am nourishing her with my body on a daily basis - that feeling - the feeling of understanding that I am a life force is truly divine. Trying to work through all my feelings and write them out and talk them out. Grateful for those who have listened, held me, and shown up for me. As I move through these emotions I am so excited to share with other Mamas and Mamas to be - and those who have no interest in being Mamas but have so much love to give to the Mamas!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ BLACK MOTHERHOOD IS THE BEST 🌞 GRATEFUL TO ALL THE MAMAS BEFORE ME WHO GAVE ME LIFE ❤️❤️ WORKING HARD TO HONOR MY ANCESTORS IN EVERYTHING I DO Asheeeee 🙏🏾🌍 🌌 by @innerpeace33
