Today is Indigenous people’s day.
🤍💛❤️🖤
and summer solstice 🌞
.
May we find ways to come together in understanding our land, our ways, our practices for us and future generations to come. 🪶
.
I am proud Néhiyaw Plains Cree from Mistawasis Nêhiyawak Treaty 6 in Saskatchewan.
.
I am here from my nohkom, who endured Residential school. My mother, aunties and uncles who were raised in the system and some in 60s scoop.
.
I grew up learning and being taught my heritage and what it’s like to be raised as a passing lighter skin, but dealing with the generational trauma that has been in our bloodline and navigating my place in this world and what I can do to help our people in some sort of form.
I am mixed and I only grew up knowing the Indigenous side of me. Navigating feeling like I don’t belong in this world from lateral violence, to my own self identity, I have always been thankful to come home to my family who knows and loves and accepts me for who I am. The teachings, the connection to Mother Nature. The land. The trees. 🪶
.
Meeting like minded individuals who see me for who I am to finding the balance of community within Indigenous culture and practice has been a new form of self discovery as well, our people have been here to be uplifting each other.
.
I grew up in not knowing the struggles my ancestors faced to have me on this earth, but I am thankful to be here for a purpose.
.
I am happy and proud to be Indigenous and thankful for the many opportunities I have to share any knowledge of our people share what I can do @innerwolfjewelry
. Learning from my family and aunties of being artistically visual and creating my visions, I am fortunate to be where I am today teaching people the bits of knowledge that was passed to me as well as what I carry in my heart and I appreciate anyone who’s supported me and my craft, my vision and my place in this world being Indigenous.

It’s no surprise that a lack of reconciliation from our gov shows anything to help for this issue. There are people out there fighting for us to be found, heard and seen. Did you know that Indigenous women are four times more likely than non-Indigenous women to be victims of violence. Indigenous women make up 16% of all female homicide victims, and 11% of missing women, yet Indigenous people make up only 4.3% of the population of Canada.
.
This being said what can be done?? We have to start talking about the issues we face. We have to start advocating for our sisters and brothers. We have to start having uncomfortable conversations about this. Because when these days happen it’s not for celebration, it’s for awareness. The fact that native people still have these issues to this day proves all the shiiii we’ve had to overcome as a culture.
.
I know that facing this seems scary and a lot of people turn a blind eye to it. We don’t act like we see what happens in our own country. While we’re faced with war everyday and the over active socials that bring us to feel helpless. We are all struggling. We are all not financially well. The best thing you can do today is share posts on your feeds. Interact with creators posting and make sure you support indigenous if you’re buying indigenous today. I am donating my sales to the MMI2S. Organization listed and I will be using my platform as my voice. Hiyhiy for reading. ❤️
