This idea should be simple: pick five favorites from different categories, right? Except... I'm an incredibly indecisive person, so this was a **REAL** challenge 😂

Some of these were easy, others changed about seventeen times before I finally committed, and I'm still not entirely convinced I wouldn't swap one or two tomorrow.

So here's a little glimpse into the stories, characters, worlds, music, and games that have stuck with me over the years. 🤍

Now it's your turn! Tell me one (or all!) of your fives:
📚 books
🎬 movies
📺 TV shows
🎮 games
🎵 bands

I'm always looking to know you guys and searching for new favorites to add to my list... although my TBR (and every other list) might not appreciate it 😅

Six girls, six different lives, and a little peek into what we’re all up to throughout the day! 💌

Same hours, completely different vibes! Some of us are being productive, some of us are reading, and some of us are just happy to be here! 😂

A little photo every hour because apparently we’re all nosy and love knowing what our friends are doing. Honestly, it’s the little everyday moments that make these friendships so sweet! 🤍

Which one of us would you want to spend the day with? 👀💕

Have I finished Vasmora? NOPE. Am I still reading it? ABSOLUTELY.

BUT since I'm reading that one with my eyeballs only, and the Threshing Day GraphicAudio came out yesterday, HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO RESIST?!

I mean, an excuse to go back to Basgiath, revisit some of my favorite characters, AND have a full cast bringing it all to life?! SIGN ME UP. I AM SO READY!

Have you read Thresing Day?
Which Thresing Day story was your favorite?

P.S. Once an emo girl, ALWAYS an emo girl.
P.P.S. I know Muse isn't emo, but I love them and it fit the vibes 🤷🏻‍♀️

First of all, please excuse the potato-quality camera 🥔😂

Second, yes, I am absolutely MORTIFIED posting this.

BUT, when your bestie @thestardustshelf challenges you to do something, you just have to embarrass yourself publicly because WE SUPPORT OUR GIRLS IN THIS HOUSE 🖤

So here I am, questioning my life choices but being a supportive friend nonetheless! And having a little fun too, if I'm being honest.

Thanks for tagging me and helping me come out my shell @thestardustshelf I love you!

Please, friends, be nice to me 🫣

POV: You want to cancel therapy to binge Vasmora by @kerilake, but you're the therapist 💀

Only 35% in because work has been CRAZY this week, BUT I NEED TO KNOW HOW THIS STORY ENDS. The suspense is KILLING ME.

Unfortunately, my patients have appointments and I have bills to pay.

Being a responsible adult is seriously interfering with my reading life 🫠

Anyone else struggling with the audacity of real-life responsibilities?

Some recent reads and VERY mixed levels of emotional stability!

There satisfying endings to series I’ve been following, books that didn’t quite hit the way I hoped, incredible audiobooks, wonderfully weird characters. I found new worlds I’m absolutely coming back to, got emotionally attacked a few times, and somehow managed to get humbled by plot twists AGAIN.

And then there was This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me, which came out of nowhere and basically said "HELLO, I’M ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE BOOKS OF THE YEAR NOW."

Honestly, this was such a fun batch of reads. Even the ones I had issues with gave me something to love, and several of these worlds and characters are absolutely staying with me.

Basically, a very on-brand reading month 😂

Have you read any of these? Tell me which one you loved—or which one just made it onto your TBR.

Our October Book Swap is here! 📚 And this month, we’re challenging each other with:

• either a book we’ve been postponing on our TBR,
• or one that will take us out of our comfort zone,
• or simply a favorite book that we NEED someone to talk to about!!

One thing is almost unanimous, though: NO ONE WANTS TO READ COLLEEN HOOVER 😂

Follow us to find out who’s going to be finishing their book asap, and who’s gonna leave it until the end of the month. It’s not a competition to see who finishes first, but the question remains: if it’s a book rec from your book bestie, shouldn’t you trust them blindly and dive into it immediately? 🤭 🫣

This month’s book swap group:

Current read check-in 📖✨

I’m about 22% into The Wretched Divine and I’m already intrigued. I genuinely have no idea where this story is going yet, but there are enough little pieces being introduced to keep me very curious about what’s coming next.

And the audiobook is REALLY good. I get Kristin Atherton AND Shane East in the same book, aka two of my favorite voice actors?! I am very much enjoying this experience 😂

The Wretched Divine by @authoradalyngrace released on September 22nd, so if you’ve been curious about it, it’s officially out in the world! ✨

Have you read this yet?

A little color therapy for this Flatlay Friday.

Last Friday was my part of my dark-book edition, so obviously I had to give my colorful books their moment too.

And honestly? They’re so pretty!

No naked covers today, though. We’re keeping everyone fully dressed because… some of these books simply have no art to show underneath.

The Ragpicker King, Heir, Our Infinite Fates and Swordheart, however? You four may undress 😂

Anyway. Pretty books make brain happy. That's all.
Have you read any of these? ✨

Thank you so much to Manu @manu_isreading for tagging me and challenging me to do the #4Under400 challenge! 🥰📚

I genuinely thought this was going to be SO HARD because I apparently have a tendency to read book behemoths, but then I went through my favorites and realized… I actually have A LOT of favorites under 400 pages?!

So, after a completely unnecessary amount of deliberation, these are the four I chose:

📖 The Everlasting — Alix E. Harrow
📖 Don't Let the Forest In — C.G. Drews
📖 The Wedding People — Alison Espach
📖 Crown Me Yours — Liv Zander

And because I am incapable of making a decision and sticking to it, I also have two HONORABLE MENTIONS:

📖 Where the Light No Longer Follows — Wendy Heiss
📖 Red Rising — Pierce Brown

Apparently, “pick 4” is merely a suggestion 😂

Now I'm tagging:
@thestardustshelf
@andareads2much
@farnamreadingadventures
@talula.reads
@macys_diary
@whattayreads
@mondayschildreads
@bibixbooksxtea
@amandadeb.reads

But please don't feel pressured to do the challenge! It's supposed to be fun, so only join in if you want to!

Now I'm curious: what are some of your favorite books under 400 pages?

I have been waiting for this book for SO long, and I genuinely didn't know how much I needed more Astarion until I started reading it 😂

There are characters you like, and then there are characters who somehow crawl into your brain and set up permanent residence. Astarion is very much the latter for me.

What I loved most is that this doesn't feel like someone simply took a beloved game character and dropped him into a novel. It feels like getting to spend more time with a character who already has so many layers—and seeing some of those layers from a different angle.

And yes, I laughed. A LOT. T. Kingfisher's humor is such a good match for Astarion's particular brand of chaos, and watching those two collide was delightful. There were also so many little moments that made me stop and think about the Astarion I know from the game—the things he says, the way he reacts, all those contradictions that make him him.

T. Kingfisher knows how to write a paladin and Hahn den Suriel is no exception. I went in expecting Astarion to steal the entire show and somehow ended up emotionally invested in a paladin too. Rude.

By the end, I was laughing, yelling, and feeling way too many feelings about fictional people, which is basically my ideal reading experience.

If you already love Baldur's Gate 3, there's something really special about getting to return to this world and spend more time with these characters. And even if you haven't played the game, this is still a genuinely fun fantasy adventure in its own right.

One week until release. 🦇

Thank you so much to T. Kingfisher @redwobatstudio, DelRey @delreybooks, Random House @randomhouse and NetGalley @netgalley for the eARC!
And now I just have to wait for the audiobook because Neil Newbon is going to be Astarion again and I am apparently expected to behave normally about this.

I will not 😂

Apparently, I have a type 😂

Give me an FMC who is clever, capable, resilient, a little unhinged, and absolutely does NOT need a man to come save her every five minutes and I am immediately invested.

But I think what I love most about a badass FMC isn't just the badassery. It's the resilience. The loud strengths and the quiet ones. The intelligence. The personality. The way they keep going, adapt, make difficult choices, mess up, learn, grow, and still somehow remain themselves through it all.

These are characters I genuinely admire. And I think that's because they're so well constructed that they feel like they have a life of their own. They're not just “strong female characters™”, they're complicated, flawed, resilient women who happen to be incredibly f***ing capable 😂

So naturally, I had to put together some of my favorites.

Some are ruthless. Some are soft. Some are terrifying. Some are a little unhinged. Some barely raise their voice and still somehow command the entire room.

I love every single one of these women for completely different reasons, and honestly, narrowing this list down was HARD. I might have to do a PART 2! Because apparently I have A LOT of feelings about fictional women.

Who are some of your favorite badass FMCs?
