It was an absolutely spectacular birthday weekend. Heartfelt thanks to all who helped me celebrate, old and new, far and wide. The celebrations started 3 weeks ago with a trip to see Lucienne, brunch with her peeps, Jackie and Becky. Then off to a weekend in LaLa land with Jasmine and side trip to Catalina! Home to a wine tasting class (Medoc) and a Champagne class (the good stuff). Crowned by a a supercalafragelisticexpialidocious evening at home, see pix! #verklempt #goodfortune Followed by #cocktailbox night. I am pooped. It was time for the August Birthdays to celebrate! There are 4 now. So each got to influence a dinner course. @vinny3.7 wanted Potatoes in a Portuguese/Spanish style and had the app. @sldavis03 wanted a soup, Gazpacho or Potato. @gianna_iantosca (we missed you)was willing to try a fish or chicken in a Mediterranean style and @jux.ta.position claimed dessert and brownies. When it came time to plan the menu I leaned into the #thisis60 Morocco trip coming in 13 months (but who's counting). And with those #damnyankees in town time was short so everything that could go wrong...did.potato ham and cheese croquettes became potato ham and cheese "donuts" with Shishito blistered peppers. Tried a #ajoblanco for the first time. Didn't hate. Star of the night was a #chermoulafishtagine with chermoula carrots salad and cukes in house made lebneh. And red white and blue brownie Sundays. A delightful evening around the table with great friends. #fortunate taken in Reservoir Hill by @innkeepgal

If that looks like a lot of different bottles of rosé...it is. The @traderjoes bandol vs the original producer of that wine which is already on regular ration in my summer rosé. There was a difference, but subtle. And with the melon de cavaillon (first I have ever seen in the us!) It was delightful! Summer cooking happen outside whenever possible! Croissant and ham strata, potatoes and tomato panzanella. Finally a yogurt panna cotta with balsamic basil strawberry coulis. #brunchwithfriends #brunchinbaltimore #sundaybrunch taken in Reservoir Hill by @innkeepgal

For those asking how Lucienne is doing. Just fine. She scared us last week with fainting while out at Brunch due to the heat. Scared the hell of Becky shown here. Bitched at length and loudly about the detour to the hospital.........but has recovered and is out again with Becky at the theater and couldn't be happier to be out. taken in Titusville Playhouse by @innkeepgal

I know. Right? More elderberries! Grand total? 10 qts ish? I have a couple of liters of Vidka steeping. I made 2 btls of syrup. I have 2 qts in freezer. Some went into a baked oatmeal last weekend. ...and i STILL have 4 Qts. Pls send suggestions! Think I am going to make some jelly today, but that will leave me will 5 qts in freezer...yikes! @bluewaterbmore this is your fault! taken in Reservoir Hill by @innkeepgal

"Out, out, damn spot..." nope it wasn't murder. It was elderberries. 2nd batch of them. @bluewaterbmore at summer 3 this guy is prolific! Today almost 5 qts. Some went into the vodka, about 2 qts went into the freezer for another day. Pie? Anyone thi k they are any good for pie?. And today elderberry syrup for cocktails and immunity!.
