Bleep bloop, it's a drawing post!
Got the iPad back out for a time lapse study of this wonderful @jcleyendeckerart piece. Not fully finished even in line form, but I think I got what I was looking for.

Question is, do I go back and try to paint it? 🤔
Anyways, hope you enjoy 30 seconds of scribbling.

😈 Hellboy's 'Good Samaritan' 😈
.
This one is a bit random, but a few rainy days here in San Francisco got me going back through old YouTube builds by @therealadamsavage , and oh boy his Samaritan replica is a thing of beauty!!
.
I tried to just jump on the moment of inspiration and create these quick sketches while I binged the build video, and why they are not that polished, I had fun giving them at least a semi-proper layout and graphic treatment.
.
Really ties the room together you know?

Howdy! 👋 Got the art-desk cleaned up and usable ahead of the new year, so why not put it to use? 📸

1 hour sketchbook session w/ out warmup, just flipping through my Tom Fox anatomy book. Not all amazing sketches here but enjoyed my early study and the bent over pose in particular.

Cheers, happy holidays, Happy New Year's, and here is to *actually* feeling excited about drawing for the first time in a while. 🖊️ 💥

Hello, howdy, it's been a while!

Its my birth-month, and I would like to make a habbit of doing an annual self portrait.

This one here actually started as a draft in the middle of 2023, but after many iterations I could never quite land on a background I liked, and it got put on the shelf.

Since then, I realized it's actually a better self portrait in this loose and unfinished state.

That is kind of how life has felt the last few years, a bit undefined. I have really lacked clarity on what comes next. But with that comes a lot of internal dialogue, self growth, and appreciate for the moment I'm in.

So, with all that said, I present to you 2023-2024, in it's current state.

As an aside, while I have been absent from social media I have not been absent from drawing. And while I am not making any promises, I have plenty of work that I may start to trickle out over the next year.

But I guess we will just have to wait and see, wont we?

-Jake

📖 Spread #01 - Complete 📖
My life is in a really weird place right now, but drawing is and has always been a cathartic way to bring the noise level down on everything else and connect with my self. 😶
.
So I don't have much to say that's 'rah rah', no big positive energy, but I hope you enjoy this full spread from my 2021/2022 sketchbook, and the page by page format for rolling it out.
.
Stay tuned for more drawings, and be kind to yourselves. 🐴

📖 Spread #01 - Right 📖
Hello, yes back again with another new format. I never seem to get past the first set of three, but hey variety is the spice of life right?
.
Speaking of variety, I hope you enjoy this mish mash of #portraitdrawing that has come together over many months. So even within this spread is a good but subtle variety in styles, not to mention the subjects themselves. Some drawn with, and some without references.
.
Also, Its perhaps already clearly implied, but the other half of this spread is just two days a way, so I'd you haven't already drop a follow and keep your eyes peeled!

📸 SK-02 - Snap! 📸
Trying to be true to my word and keep these quick, loose, (and hopefully lively) sketches coming at a brisk pace! This week is a beautiful #pentax camera! 🦅
.
Something about the thick leather strap and big knurled rings on this thing just really resonated with me. I have a soft spot for the old 'hefty' type design language.
.
Also shout-out to Ben Armstrong on #artstation who created the 3d render I referenced. It's lovely!🤖🤖🤖

✍️ SK-01 - Vroom!! ✍️
While I'm still obsessing over some anatomy studies in the background, I want to share more drawings with y'all more often! Thus the new 'sketch' series, and kicking us off this week is a #jeep !
.
These will be a bit more fun, fast, and loose and I'll usually work from a reference image too, so swipe over and scope it out.
.
Hope you have as much fun looking at these as I did drawing them! And make sure to follow for more coming just down the line.

☠️ Pelvis Study 3/3 ☠️
This guy right here is the final pelvis of 2021, coming to you in the new year!🎊🎉💥
.
Very glad to have learned from these, pushed my limits of perspectival construction, spelling (lol) and now to be moving on to something else 😂
.
So, don't worry! More (and I think even cooler) anatomy content is coming your way! Not to mention a backlog of sketches, studies and doodles. Make sure your following so you don't miss out!

☠️ Pelvis Study - 02 ☠️
As much as I struggle to draw these ole' bones I do gain an ever greater appreciation for #anatomy, and the crazy workings of our bodies.
.
Oh, and for how little I actually know.😅 Shootout to everyone who corrected my spelling and labeling issues in the last post. I appreciates you. 🙌
.
Also, if your new make sure to follow and catch the latest drawings as they roll out. I have a few more Pelvis studies ready to go, just need to decide how many I want to post (aka the actually hard part).
.
Till then, be well, and happy holidays!
