When we think about eating disorders, our focus naturally centres on the person experiencing the illness. But behind many recovery journeys are carers, family members, partners, siblings, and friends providing support every day.
From coordinating appointments and supporting meals, to navigating uncertainty and advocating for care, much of this work happens quietly behind the scenes.

During National Carers Week, we're recognising the invaluable contribution carers make to eating disorder recovery, while also highlighting the importance of supporting their own wellbeing.
Swipe through to learn more about the hidden work of caring, the impact it can have, and where support is available. 👉

"What does food, culture, and wellbeing mean to you?" 🖤💛❤️

That's the question we asked at Koori Knockout this weekend, and the responses from community were thoughtful, powerful, and inspiring.

It was an incredible weekend of celebration, footy, culture, and connection. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our marquee to have a yarn, contribute to our community mural, and share what food, culture, and wellbeing mean to them.

A special thank you to Uncle Boe Rambaldini for spending time with us and helping create such meaningful conversations throughout the weekend.

We'd also like to thank our partners @thehappysnackcompany and @waterdrop for their generous support, and our Knockout dream team for helping bring it all together.

We feel privileged to have been part of such a special event and look forward to continuing these important conversations with community. Three people wearing matching white event T-shirts with a colourful circular design reading “TOGETHER” are positioned at the front and centre of the group. Another attendee wears a brightly patterned shirt featuring Indigenous-inspired artwork, while others wear casual clothing, including hats and sunglasses. The group is standing on a grassy field, with equipment and event materials visible inside the tent behind them. The image was taken outdoors under an overcast sky. by @insideout_institute

A huge thank you to @thehappysnackcompany and @waterdrop for helping us bring a little extra fun to the Koori Knockout! 💜

Thanks to their generous support, our team was able to share plenty of freebies with community members throughout the weekend.

🌱 The Happy Snack Company supplied a range of tasty, allergy-friendly snacks, providing a delicious option for people with a variety of dietary needs. Proudly based on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, they've been roasting snacks for Australians for more than 30 years.

💧 Waterdrop kept us stocked with samples of their popular Microdrink cubes, which add a burst of fruity flavour to water while encouraging hydration in a more sustainable way.

We're incredibly grateful for their support in helping us create a welcoming and engaging space for community conversations about food, culture, and wellbeing. Thank you for being part of it! 🙌🏽✨ Hands holding Waterdrop Microdrink cubes and The Happy Snack Company roasted fava beans in front of a banner for the Australian Eating Disorders Research and Translation Centre Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Program. The products were provided as giveaways for community members attending the event. by @insideout_institute

The InsideOut team will be there, alongside the team at the @Australian Eating Disorders Research and Translation Centre throughout the event, connecting with community, sharing resources, and talking about food, eating, and wellbeing.

From detoxes and "natural" products to conspiracy-style health claims, wellness misinformation often sounds convincing because it offers simple answers to complex questions.

As we close this year's Body Image and Eating Disorders Awareness Week (BIEDAW), we wanted to debunk five common wellness myths to explore what the evidence actually says.

Today, members of the Eating Disorders Alliance (EDA) met with Federal Parliamentarians in Canberra to advocate for meaningful action on eating disorder reform, during Body Image and Eating Disorder Awareness Week (7-13 September).

Our message to the Government is clear: Australia already has the roadmap. The National Eating Disorders Strategy 2023-2033 outlines the system of care required and the actions needed to achieve it. Through the One Voice Campaign, we are calling for practical, evidence-informed investments to protect effective services, address gaps in community-based care, strengthen workforce capacity, improve service navigation, and support earlier intervention.

These are achievable reforms that will help ensure more people can access the support they need, when they need it.

We thank the members of Parliamentary Friends of Eating Disorder Awareness, including Co-Chairs @zalisteggall @andrewwallacemp68 and @susantemplemanmp , for their ongoing support and commitment to raising awareness and driving change.

Your Instagram algorithm isn't random, it's built to show you more of the content you engage with most. 👀

That means if you're regularly watching, liking, or interacting with content that makes you feel stressed, anxious, or negatively impacts your body image, the platform may keep serving you more of it.

The good news? You can reset your algorithm and give yourself a fresh start. A few small changes can help you take back control of what shows up in your scroll.

Watch the video to learn how. 💙
