Last weekend I got in contact with a bartender who works at a veterans clubhouse about a collection of clothing donated by the wife of a member who recently passed away.

Originally from Ohio, this man was a Vietnam veteran, former police officer and longtime Harley rider. His wife donated his collection to help raise money to keep the clubhouse open.

I started digging through every donation bag in the kitchen. After we finished the deal it started to rain so I sat at the bar and shot the shit with the veterans while I waited for it to settle down. Another instance in my life where old clothes bridge the gap between generations.

Safe to say I’ll be hearing from them again. by @insightfulfinds

Yesterday I met up with a retired NYC biker who spent decades riding up and down the East Coast. He was ready to let go of some of the shirts that made it with him along the way.

While digging through his closet, I found the Stars & Bars folded up in the corner. He had completely forgotten it was even there.

Definitely one of my favorite Harley tees I’ve ever had the chance to own. by @insightfulfinds

Yesterday I met up with Joe, a Boston native who spent the 80s and early 90s going to shows and picking up shirts along the way.

Once he moved to Florida he got into Jimmy Buffett, as you can see from the haul.

I appreciate him for passing these along after holding onto them for decades 🤝 by @insightfulfinds

Today I had the opportunity to meet Kym, who spent 25 years working as a buyer for J&R Music World in Manhattan.

I reached out to buy some old shirts, but ended up spending an hour talking with her and hearing stories from her years in NYC and everything that came after.

When she moved to Florida she got rid of a lot of what she had accumulated, but held onto the shirts you see here. by @insightfulfinds

Thrift Con NYC recap 🗽

This trip was a grind from start to finish. Multiple stops, long days, and constantly on the move, but it all ended up being worth it. It’s still crazy to me that I can come to a city like New York and get so much love from people who genuinely rock with what I do.

Huge thank you to everyone who stopped by the booth, bought something, and to all the homies I got to reconnect with who I don’t get to see often. I look forward to the next adventure 🤘🏽 taken in Brooklyn, New York by @insightfulfinds

Yesterday, on my drive to New York, I made a stop to meet Armando’s family. The moment I walked through the door, it was impossible not to notice what the Grateful Dead meant to him. His family told me he’d been going to shows since 1975. Every wall told part of his story, and every shirt carried years of memories. Thank you to his family for trusting me with these shirts. I’ll do my best to make sure they find their way to people who will appreciate them as much as he did. by @insightfulfinds

Made a stop on the way to my hometown to meet a retired veteran selling his collection of 80s & 90s biker tees. Ended up leaving with five 3D Emblems. Safe to say it was worth the detour. by @insightfulfinds

The community behind vintage is a constant reminder that it’s so much deeper than just clothes. It’s an excuse to hit the road, explore new places, meet dope people, and create memories along the way.
