The Student Pencil Profile This project explores the outdated education system through the intersection of student experiences and data visualization. With 40 Student Pencil Profiles, each pencil represents a student’s emotional response to graded tasks, with weight, shape, and stroke reflecting their level of fear. Writing with these pencils allows one to physically feel the emotional weight of the student it represents. The heavier the emotional weight, the darker the stroke. Crafted with HB pencils, from H to 5B. Raising the question: Can we redefine success in education without compromising student well-being? - #dataviz #datavisualization #informationdesign #creative by @insiyahxdesign
We asked 40 students from three different education systems one simple question: “What emotions do you feel in relation to the academic grading system and graded tasks?” Using five key emotions, each student’s responses were used to create an individual emotional profile, highlighting the emotions they most strongly associated with grades and assessment. Education should inspire growth—not fear and anxiety. Our findings suggest it’s time to rethink how we define and measure success in education. by @insiyahxdesign

A community-stencil highlighting core values (from a personal perspective) Core values include but not limited to : bravery, loyalty, modesty, a value of imagination, a strong sense of community, respect, religion and tolerance are among a few key elements that shape our culture. As a child I would use stencils to trace shapes in geometry, building from that I thought of designing a stencil where the shapes traced are ones that symbolise core values of a culture. (Adding meaning to what we trace) I hope that we can be inspired by these symbols and trace them through our lives. by @insiyahxdesign

“Over the past five years, approximately 85% of the world’s population experienced a decline in press freedom in their country” -UNESCO This animation hopes to portray this visually by the gradual removal of 85% of the letters in the alphabet to symbolize the erosion of the truth. The partial removal of letters evoke a sense of visual impairment, symbolizing the obscured or incomplete nature of information that reaches the public. In times like today, we must strengthen our understanding and remain firm in our beliefs, recognizing the realities of the media around us, so we are not deceived by false narratives and propaganda. by @insiyahxdesign
