DIY Backsplash Disasters

Check out what Inspector Nate, my home inspector in Ottawa Ontario, found in this kitchen during one of his recent inspections. 🤦‍♂️ by @inspectornate

I was honored to receive one of the 3 pillar awards tonight as we celebrate the first year of Mike Holmes Inspections Franchises in Canada. I’m very passionate about Communication and immensely grateful for this recognition.

Thank you Mike, everyone at the MHI team and most importantly my wife @terveldfarms for all of the support. Let’s Make it Right! by @inspectornate

💨 Change That Filter 💨

Don’t Let these guys get this dirty. Change your furnace filter out minimum every 3 months to keep the air clean and the furnace running well.

Happy heating season!

🥶 Thermal Imaging Wins Again 🥶

This is a giant gap in insulation in the attic. This can act as a large heat sink in the winter where we will lose precious heat and waste our hard earned money. Insulating it is relatively easy to fix but finding that without thermal would have been difficult.

🏠 Best Way to Inspect the Roof 🏠

Walking the roof is not required in many areas. We like to do it when it’s safe to get to for this reason. Some things are much easier to see when you’re there. A drone can be a handy tool. An eye stick can help too but nothing beats walking it.

💦 Foundation Leaks 💦

This year has been a wet year and basements have been suffering in some areas. Basement leakage can vary from some light staining to massive flooding. Small leaks can turn into larger problems over time if not addressed. We always look for signs of leakage when inspecting the foundations. Thermal imaging can help with this too.
