When the Haiti earthquake struck, @jakewoodtr had been out of the Marine Corps for just 60 days. He saw the chaos unfolding and recognized that his training could be useful, so he gathered a small team of volunteers, and went.

That decision became @teamrubicon

What started as a scrappy group of veterans, first responders, and medical professionals has grown into a humanitarian organization built to move quickly when disaster strikes. But the instinct at the center of it is still the same: see a need, figure out how you can help, and act.

We’re Inspired by how Janne Kouri turned one of the hardest moments of his life into a mission that has positively impacted thousands of others.

After a spinal cord injury left him paralyzed, Janne learned that insurance-supported rehabilitation often ends after only a few weeks, even though the need for care continues.

He turned that gap into @nextstepla - giving people living with paralysis access to advanced rehabilitation, fitness, and a community built around possibility.

Nearly two decades later, NextStep has helped thousands pursue greater health, independence, and quality of life.
