VOGUE FEATURED SUFFOLK WEDDING; if you’ve recently got engaged and need a wedding planner, or maybe have been trying to plan your own wedding for a few weeks or months and are feeling overwhelmed and stressed, look no further! With over 30 years experience of planning bespoke, unique weddings and parties, Jenny Loyd and her team, along with many trusted suppliers most of whom she has worked with previously, will be delighted to assist you.

To dispel a myth about wedding planners - good ones do not takeover plans; we are very empathetic and are always driven by feedback and input from our clients. Some of them ask us to completely design and style every single element of a celebration for them. In these cases we sketch up floor plans and create mood boards throwing plenty of inspiration into our meetings in person or on zoom. Other clients, such as with this wedding, know what they wish to achieve but need assistance doing so.

Here our stylish bride who works in Fashion PR and for whom the details were of utmost importance - very much aligning with our ethos - had booked the tent and caterers when she contacted us only a few months prior to the big day.

We sourced a wide range of specific items to fit in with the deep cherry red colourscheme. These ranged from striped wrought iron furniture (moved between locations on site so as to be used during both the afternoon and evening), red velvet chill out modular furniture, five red shades of Ester & Erik candles, beautiful table linen to my bride’s taste, purchasing metres and metres of fabric to drape trees and generously cover tables, artistically.

A ‘caricature’ of the bride’s dogs - which both attended the wedding - was created and used for stationery items ranging from coasters, matches, the seating plan and late night t-shirts for the bar staff.

The bride was delighted that her wedding featured in Vogue Weddings, and we were grateful for a mention!

MARIE-ANTOINETTE VERSAILLES PALACE PARTY!!!

We were delighted to be tasked with creating a lavish, opulent, Marie Antoinette style party - in a marquee in a client’s garden and all on New Year’s Eve!!!

Winter marquee parties are always more of a logistical challenge but having been organising bespoke parties and weddings for over 30 years it’s exactly the type of task I enjoy!!

On this occasion I decided to wallpaper panels of plywood with a stunning gold and silver glitter damask design and attach them to the walls of the tent every few metres, interspersed with rich drapes of burgundy crushed velvet, pinned back to represent opulent curtains!

The real pièces de résistance though were the completely over the top Marie Antoinette style silk flowers which my team and I arranged; hundreds and hundreds of peonies, roses, handpicked fresh foliage, all bursting out of pedestal rose bowls, draped onto the candelabra, standing statuesque in tall lily vases. Numerous LED candles dotted here and there in silver candlesticks, silver coupe bowls and cups with grapes, plums, apples, cherries all tumbling out! Three tiered tea cake stands with thousands of fresh raspberries, blueberries and strawberries, tiny silver pedestal bowls of sugared almonds in pink and silver, pink and gold macarons - enough to make grown men stop in their tracks and literally say ‘WOW’…..’HOW AMAZING’!!!

No sooner had dinner been served and the tables were briskly cleared away for the tent to become a very atmospheric nightclub with Louis XVI sofas and armchairs for chilling and enjoying champagne cocktails and crepes until the early hours!

WHAT A NIGHT!

It was a lot of work but a total pleasure to work for this family again! Thanks for having us and a HUGE thankyou to the suppliers who were involved!!

A little late, but nonetheless, we wanted to share a short tribute to 2025 - and to say a BIG thankyou to our clients without whom none of this would happen, our loyal suppliers, our friends and family who put up with our crazy working hours/life! We wouldn’t change it - we love all the events that we are lucky enough to create and manage and now we’re already looking forward to more sizzling celebrations in 2026!!

60th & 21st FAMILY PARTY! I enjoyed spending 18th months planning this memorable family birthday party for all generations!

No detail was left uncovered as I worked with my clients to ensure that all aspects were designed to her liking. I created mood boards and had a sample of every item of tableware delivered for her approval, and more importantly peace of mind. CAD plans of the Orangery marquee layout and table design were also drawn up. We had tastings with potential caterers, listened to numerous musical entertainment options and I assisted with guest list management.

The build of this epic tent with a stunning Chinoiserie lining took several days despite there being a big gang on site. With camping in an adjacent field we had a total of three loo units on site, plus a shower unit installed, a bridge built over the haha and a lot of signage! Security and car park assistants ensured that the 300 guests were well cared for from start to the 7am finish - though with brunch served on Sunday from 11am and an after party on Sunday evening with pizzas and another DJ, it was actually Monday morning when the celebrations drew to a close!

EXQUISITE SETTING FOR ALEX & FIONA’S WEDDING! This was one of those weddings which I think and hope that not only will my clients remember for the rest of their lives, but I know I will too!! From the moment we met we had so much fun planning this incredible Ceremony and celebration! Their house and beautiful parkland estate grounds in Norfolk could easily be a film set location!

The girls decided to get a raft built, and then each surreptitiously entered the ancient disused swimming pool changing rooms - walking out at a specific moment in their music, to then see each other for the first time in their wedding outfits! A big responsibility for two of their male guests was to pull them across the water for their wedding blessing ceremony. It was magical! (Though I was waiting with baited breath hoping that they both emerged at the same time and then had my stopwatch on the go telling the men ‘speed up/slow down’ so that the girls arrived on terra firma exactly when the music finished!!! Wedding planning has no boundaries!!!)

It felt about 30 degrees that afternoon as you can tell from the sunflowers, which though only picked shortly before the ceremony, were not happy!!

Guests then celebrated with bubbles and canapés, followed by paella and individual tiramisus emblazoned with cocoa hearts! Heartfelt speeches, energetic dancing and miniature Biscoff icecreams ensured that everyone loved celebrating Alex & Fiona’s wedding - a dream come true - especially so as they had only met online the previous year!

Amusing footnote: all the dinner tables were named after dating websites!!

PAINTERS & PAINTINGS 22nd BIRTHDAY PARTY for an art loving family!

At the beginning of the year Kitty’s mother sent me an image of The Rausing Room at The National Gallery, taken when on a family visit, with the caption ‘Tent goals……’!!! The challenge was set for me to create their own ‘Gallery’ for two consecutive evenings of parties! On the Friday, a lovely ‘Last of the Summer Rosé’ drinks party for the adults, and on the Saturday a FABULOUS 22nd birthday party, shared with her brother William celebrating his 24th!

It was the perfect opportunity to hire a clear roofed marquee! The walls were lined in a wine coloured crushed velvet with some ceiling swags too. I covered the bar in black velvet draped with crushed gold velvet, and hired in a range of velvet sofas and gold occasional tables and stools, not forgetting the transformative naked male and female statues which I enhanced with uplighters!

Kitty, William, friends & family sure know how to party - taking the guests on an epic journey from ‘sedate’ drinks and nibbles, to full-on crowd surfing! The party continued until the early hours and guests who were camping in an adjacent field were revived in the morning by a coffee van serving naughty pastries too!

Whether guests were dressed as Queen Victoria, Pigcasso, the Girl with the Pearl Earring, The Son of Man or a decorator in white splattered dungarees, EVERYONE went crazy on the dancefloor, fuelled by paella and Moscow Mules!

10th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY party thankyou! We are always thrilled when someone takes the time to write and thank us for all we did to help make their celebrations a truly memorable event. This was an exceptionally lovely note that we were fortunate to receive!

It was a pleasure to help Joel and Maria both with planning, set up and managing the day including finding some bar staff, hence the reference to them!

80th BIRTHDAY PARTY at The Belvedere, Holland Park, London!

Earlier in the summer I worked with a lovely family to create this very special 80th birthday celebration. Initially, following several calls and meetings, I took them to see some shortlisted venues in London where one can bring in the finest caterers of one’s choice, along with entertainment, and where the finishing time isn’t too restrictively early.

The exquisite Belvedere, with ochre coloured walls, curved ceiling arches spanning the dining area, vibrant towering greenery and doors and views into Holland Park was chosen, which was no surprise as it gives the feeling of being transported to Tuscany for a few hours!

I worked with the family through a myriad of details ranging from obtaining sample linen, providing ideas for glassware, chairs, entertainment, organising printing, visiting the restaurant several times to discuss lighting and candle options, as well as working our way through menu ideas for a three course dinner including exquisite canapés, followed by exploring the Italian wine list with the very genial sommelier. (The normal restaurant furniture is stacked away for the night and a lot of the catering hire is hired in for the evening so as to all co-ordinate and not require washing up on site, with it being collected by the hire company at the end of the party in the very early hours - as is the way with many events in London venues.)

The highly experienced and talented florist, Gaye Drummond, brought the incredibly beautiful flowers down to London and arranged copious vases of them throughout the building. The peonies were the perfect colour tones and absolutely ‘on-point’!

Guests began the evening with drinks upstairs on the outdoor terrace overlooking the Park with background live guitar & bass. Following dinner, speeches, and a tiered birthday stack of colourful macarons, guests retired upstairs for cocktails and dancing to a small jazz band!

A MOMENT FOR THE CAKE….over my 30+ years of organising weddings (& parties), I have seen and tried a lot of cakes!!! Here are some tips if you’re getting married…..

- ensure that your cake will be consumed at the wedding; you don’t want to find at 1am that your four tier cake hasn’t been touched apart from when you put the knife in for the ceremonial cutting!

- consider incorporating the cake into the dessert; this beautiful cake, pictured, was served with a Compote of Summer Berries

- if the cake is sliced up and left out on a grazing table, label up the layers if they are different flavours and ensure there are side plates, dessert forks and napkins available

- make sure that you or your caterer hires in a cake stand and large cake knife, or bring one from home

- consider other options for cakes eg individual chocolate wrapped mousse cakes presented on a tall tiered stand with a cutting cake/mousse on top, all then deconstructed and served for dessert

- this year I have had three weddings serving variations of tiramisu or, as one bride called it, ‘cakemisu’ for both the ceremonial cutting and then dessert!

- another option is to have a six/seven (or more/less) tiered cheese stack which looks interesting, can be ceremoniously cut, and then presented for grazing later on throughout the evening. Again - label the layers!

At this wedding, pictured, one of my favourite looking cakes with edible pressed flowers was served, made by Poppy of @thehazleburykitchen. She uses home grown free range eggs and will tailor the colour of the flowers to co-ordinate with your wedding style/colour scheme! She sends out tasting samples in the post during the Winter/Spring months for clients to choose their preferred flavours. Here Hugh & Alex chose two layers of Raspberry & Orange and the other two layers to be Lemon & Blueberry. She also made an extra tier, as an additional cutting cake as this wedding was for almost 200 guests.

It’s always a pleasure working with a host of talented cake makers, and exciting to see their works of art - the most nerve racking thing is usually moving the creation either into place, or taking it away for cutting up in the kitchen! taken in Suffolk by @inspired_event_management

ELEGANT COUNTRY ENGLISH & JAMAICAN WEDDING with a blessing at Bury St Edmund’s Cathedral during Evensong followed by a wonderful international gathering to celebrate Hugh & Alex’s marriage, in the grounds of Culford School, West Suffolk.

Guests enjoyed champagne and canapés during the afternoon on the immaculate South Lawn at Culford, with copious oysters from roving shuckers! The weather did not play ball but the clear roof and walled framed tent which we organised just a few days before came into its own, housing the afternoon reggae DJ, rum & whisky bar and speeches.

Guests then walked across the lawn under Inspired Event Management umbrellas, for dinner in a beautifully decorated sailcloth tent. Wild and wispy green foliage adorned many tensioned wires in the roof space, along with bamboo and wicker lampshades with filament bulbs, on dimmers. The striking olive green linen hemstitched napkins together with romantic table lamps and vibrant orange and bright blue flowers looked fabulous against the full length white table linen.

The menu was a combo of the boys favourite English & Jamaican dishes giving guests plenty to taste and chat about! Their epic flower petal cake, made by Poppy - one of their friends who’s also a renowned cake maker, was served for dessert along with a compote of summer berries.

A seven piece band, @salutband, followed by Jamaican DJ @beccadudley ensured that the rest of the night was a total blast!

REMEMBERING A LOVED ONE: Last week I had the good fortune of working with the wonderful @sarahsymington_london and her excellent team, at very short notice, as in between one weekend of a party for nearly 300 and a wedding for almost 200, and the following (last) weekend a wedding x 180 plus a 21st birthday party in London at Bluebird, I helped a lovely family, (previous wedding clients) with putting together arrangements and managing a large funeral wake in Hampstead, London. Sarah and her team could not have been more professional, helpful and kind. They provided all drinks, beautiful canapés and took care of the hire.

The whole experience took me back to when I worked for two of London’s top outside caterers back in the 1990’s! The male staff wore full butler’s uniform and they lined the floors with druggets! (Mats to protect the ground from scratches and water etc).

It also reminded me of the time MANY years ago that I was managing a party on Tower Bridge. It was always VERY tricky for the kitchen porters/drivers to deliver there especially in rush hour when it was virtually impossible to stop on the bridge to unload. On that occasion there was a storm in the air and as they unloaded the van onto the pavement all the druggets literally took off, into the River Thames 🤣!!

The first of two of our weddings from this summer which have been featured in @britishvogue!

We were delighted to help Iona & Elliot with their Greek inspired wedding! A feast for the eyes in the grounds of the ruins of Sir John Soane’s Tendring Hall, only the portico remains now - which was modelled on the Parthenon, as was the DJ booth. Aegean blue flowers throughout including irises on the dining tables, inside a tent decorated by the bride and groom with hundreds of silver stars to create a feeling of sitting outside under a starry Mediterranean sky. Greek inspired food prepared by @sabelfood including sea bass crudo, and tiramisu desserts served to each table with a white chocolate moulded Greek sculptured ‘lid’ which guests literally hammered to break into and serve! No detail was left unturned as Iona and Elliot prepared for this epic celebration!

Iona’s designer outfits, in particular her hand-embroidered @elliemisner dress with hundreds of mother of pearl buttons has hit the fashion headlines both here in the UK and as far afield as Australia! Pictures to follow!

After dinner guests danced the night away whilst us suppliers continued to enjoy looking after all the guests in a complete fog of haze! A whole cannister of liquid smoke was burnt through in a matter of a few hours - so much so that one couldn’t see from one side of the tent to the other! The guests loved it!

The following day guests gathered for Squid Games and pizzas at the cricket ground! A relaxing antidote to the previous day’s celebrations!
