2023 was my last year in Karachi, and something very touching happened before I left. Florence — the owner of Café Flo — invited me to celebrate Christmas at her home. It was such a warm and thoughtful gesture. But it just so happened that my flight was on the 25th, the very same day. So I left straight from the Christmas mood into my journey back to Spain via Istanbul — almost like going “from the celebration straight to the airport.”

My feelings were mixed — a little sad, a little emotional, but also full of gratitude. So much happened during my years in Karachi. And when you start saying goodbye, you suddenly realise how beautiful that chapter of life truly was.

I met so many wonderful people there. I discovered so many new things. And the biggest lesson I learned is this: it doesn’t really matter where you are — what truly matters is who you are with. You can feel at home anywhere in the world if you are surrounded by good people.

I was truly blessed to meet such kind, strong, beautiful souls — people I still keep in touch with, and I hope we will always stay connected. And if you are reading this now — my people — this message is for you. I adore you, I remember you, I appreciate you. You are simply the best.🤗

Great memory: Karachi 2022 Christmas 🎄 This restaurant is called Café Flo. My friend and I used to go there all the time — we were almost part of the furniture. It’s an elegant French restaurant with refined cuisine, a cozy romantic atmosphere, and that subtle “Paris in Karachi” feeling. And yes — believe it or not — all of this is in Pakistan, right in the middle of busy Karachi.

The owner of Café Flo is actually a French woman from Paris who has been living in Karachi for more than 40 years. She is an elegant, beautiful and truly fascinating lady. I once heard a little of her story: 40 years ago she travelled almost by hitchhiking all the way to Pakistan, where she met a very handsome Pakistani man whose mother was an actress. They fell in love, she stayed, they built a family — and today they have beautiful children and this wonderful restaurant.

So if you ever find yourself in Karachi, trust me — Café Flo is absolutely worth a visit. A little taste of Paris in Pakistan.

In Karachi, I met two wonderful people — Gulnara from Tajikistan and Arslan from Pakistan. I myself am from Uzbekistan. We quickly became very close and formed a truly warm, joyful friendship — we were always together, supporting each other and sharing the happiest moments of life.

In 2022, we celebrated Christmas at Gulia’s home. She prepared everything with so much love, set a beautiful table, and created an incredibly cozy and heartfelt atmosphere. We laughed, talked, and simply enjoyed our time together.

Thank you, Gulia, for such a wonderful evening — for your warmth, care, and the beautiful atmosphere you created. These memories will always stay in my heart.

I am truly grateful that life brought us together in Karachi.

This Holiday , I was inspired by French cuisine.
For the first time, I decided to cook two classic French dishes — and they turned out really good!

• Fricassée de poulet aux champignons
Chicken fricassee with mushrooms and thyme — tender chicken in a creamy herb sauce, with fresh thyme for aroma and depth of flavor.

• Île flottante
A traditional French dessert — soft meringue floating on vanilla crème anglaise, topped with caramel. Light, airy and very elegant.

Both dishes were completely new for me, but the process was so enjoyable — and the result was absolutely worth it.
I definitely recommend trying them if you love delicate, comforting food with a French touch 💛🇫🇷
