Registering your NPO till PBO stages.. Lessons and challenges. Here are some things I learned while helping clients with their full registration and compliance.

Most of them come to us after their applications were rejected which then creates a bit of retrospective work that they did not budget for. Some come with NPOs registered, but registered constitution still needs to be optimized for SARS purposes.

This process will work seamlessly when you work with 1 consultant from start to finish.
1. They already know your objectives.
2. They already have copies of your documents
3. They know what is missing in your constitution so the addendum will mostly happen as soon as possible for SARS.
4. You already have a working relationship some advisory services and guidance are offered free of charge
5. You already have an Accounting officer and someone who will guide you on compliance and financial management.
6. Because after the DSD registrations, there's still Income Tax to register and Public officer to appoint and register.

Having represented a funder within the Program Management unit of a Principal recipient, 1 thing I can tell you for free is that before SARS breath in your direction the PR on behalf of the funder will deal with you decisively.

Imagine having to deal with the PR, then the Auditors, lastly SARS😥. I personally have been in both sides I understand your pain shem. The reporting, the compliance with the funders requirements and accounting framework which at times are totally different from yours. Goodluck.

But please comply. No other way.
