Figure trained its own AI robots to jump into a 75-ton furnace.

The robotics company was replacing its older F.02 humanoid robots and decided to destroy the proprietary hardware rather than risk it ending up in someone else’s hands.

According to Figure, engineers actually trained the robots to make the jump before sending them into a molten-steel furnace in Finland.

The whole thing reportedly started after Arnold Schwarzenegger told Figure they should “melt them,” turning an ordinary hardware retirement into a full-on Terminator-style robot funeral.

It’s one of the strangest examples yet of how seriously companies are starting to treat humanoid robot hardware and intellectual property.

Uber laid off 3,300 employees — while AI is increasingly handling the work some of them used to do. 🤖🚗

In September, Uber announced plans to cut about 10% of its global workforce, with CEO Dara Khosrowshahi saying the company was removing management layers and simplifying its organization. Uber did not officially attribute the layoffs to AI.
