💣 Murph goes yard at ND this weekend! A powerful swing broken down and analyzed by Coach KOD. 🥎🔥 #IntensitySoftball

Lower half: The softball hitter has a strong athletic base and is beginning to transfer force into the front side. Her front foot is down and she has some rear-hip rotation. Compared with the reference hitter, though, she appears to have less complete hip rotation at this instant. The reference image shows the belt buckle/hips turning aggressively toward the pitcher with the rear heel released.
Sequence: This is the biggest area I would examine. In the softball image, the hands and barrel appear to be working forward while the hips could be farther into their rotation. Ideally, the lower half initiates, the torso follows, and the hands/barrel are delivered last. That creates separation and lets the hitter use the ground rather than primarily pushing the bat with the upper body.
Front side: Her front leg looks fairly stable, which is good. I would work toward an even firmer front side through contact, allowing the front leg to accept force while the pelvis continues rotating around it.
Hands/barrel: Her hands look relatively connected to the body, but the barrel appears to be getting away from her a little early. The reference hitter maintains a very compact hand path and lets rotation deliver the barrel. I wouldn't coach her simply to "keep the hands inside"; I'd emphasize turning the barrel behind the ball while staying connected to the torso.
Head/spine: This is a positive. Her head appears relatively quiet and she's maintaining her posture through the swing. The reference image emphasizes the same concept: rotate around the spine rather than allowing the head and upper body to travel excessively forward

ground → hips → torso → barrel sequence, particularly getting more rotational contribution from the lower half before the hands fully deliver the bat. by @intensitykod

🔥 INTENSITY WEEKEND — DAY TWO IS A WRAP! 🔥

Another incredible day of learning, competing, growing, and building champions.

Day Two is officially in the books but we’re not finished yet.

💥 DAY THREE IS ABOUT THE BIG FINISH! 💥

A special thank you to Coach Tom Sutaris of the Colorado Rockies for sharing his knowledge and experience with our athletes.

And a huge welcome home to former Intensity alum Rebecca Drake Syracuse graduate and Georgia Tech graduate assistant. There’s nothing better than seeing our former players come back and pour their knowledge into the next generation.

This is what Intensity Weekend is all about.

EDUCATE • MOTIVATE • INSPIRE

Greatness is a Choice.
Destined for Greatness. 💙💚
