This week marks the one-year anniversary of the passing of Professor Jonathan Sterne. Professor Sterne was a kind, generous, and exceptionally bright educator, mentor, scholar, and friend to so many.

When we started Intercom! we instantly knew that our first issue would be a memorial to him. He embodied everything Intercom! strives to be – a space where scholars, artists, and thinkers, can dream, experiment, create, and think together. Intercom! would not exist without Professor Sterne who inspired each of us to think differently, to do the hard thing, and to build better worlds.

Our first issue, “For Jonathan” is available online at intercomzine.com/issue-01 for those who want to learn more about Professor Sterne and the undeniable impact he left on the field of communication studies and beyond.

We miss Professor Sterne deeply and are sending love to all those who knew him and loved him 🤍 by @intercomzine
