Sharing an upcoming exhibition, alongside a recap of a recent screening of my work
Vertical Dialogues (2025) 14’26’’

Set in the misty mountains of southern China, a landscape shaped by tourism and natural spectacle, Vertical Dialogues follows mist as it gathers, disperses, and reshapes the land. It treats mist as a shifting boundary between body and landscape, disappearance and return.

Through fragmented actions, wandering images, and poetic narration, the mountain emerges as both place and ghost, carrying traces of migration, longing, and inherited attachment while resisting fixed ideas of home.

Curatorial Note:

From one to another we move. We move internally to places of home within, we move externally to places of safety and belonging. We sit with the temporality and fleeting moments of flight in the air. Grasping for the familiar; within space. We hold on to kin. She (the earth) offers safety to nest, to root and build. Connection to earth is connection to the grains of soil our ancestors walked. The wind moves… always, across borders and seas, we move alongside the wind, with our feet planted deep to the core of the earth.

She (the earth) is a witness. The ways land is turned into assets, boundaries, or battlegrounds. She witnesses the changes to temporalities. She resists, heals, and remembers.

Awaiting Home, brings together artists working with moving image, photography, digital and analog storytelling, opening portals that explore stories of people and the lands that hold them, revealing the complex relationships between landscapes and people. The artists weave together the intermediary between bodies and the ground they inhabit.

Who has the right to stay? Who is pushed to move? What does it mean to own, to borrow, to inherit, or simply to care for this temporary by @internal_cazimi

Well, you know,
life’s a bit like a s…storm
on a summer d…

— unpredictable, oddly beautiful,
and you never know when
you’re gonna … yourself
in it.

…other
…flakes
… confusion.

自从那次浮潜，太沉浸在海里的世界，上岸后不适应地上的视觉，我忍不住喷射性呕吐之后，我开始想努力看清这个世界。

离开的路上，我再一次很想看清摩托车骑手衣服上的字，可那天骑手选择了一个斜挎包，盖住了文字的一大半，候机时我用了很久想要猜到全文，好像它会是某种真理。

“这几天在西边的巴厘岛，白人甚至人的数量在慢慢减少，开始看到了印尼本来的样子。今天吃了一家本地人的海鲜大排档，在村子的隐秘处，看到小孩在玩游戏，在城市待久了已经忘记了原来游戏可以这样的有机和纯粹… 老板在摘自家院子的酸角，摘下来就送给我们了几颗，好好吃。骑摩的穿越山坡，远处田野上的小孩朝我们打招呼，好可爱的小脸蛋绽放着无邪的笑容，我希望这片土地的人民可以得到尊重和祝福。”

Ever since that snorkelling trip, when I became so immersed in the world underwater that, once I came back ashore, my eyes couldn’t quite adjust to the world above sea level, and I ended up projectile vomiting. After that, I’ve found myself wanting to make more of an effort to see this world clearly.

On the way to airport, once again, I really wanted to make out the words printed on a motorbike rider’s shirt. But that day, the rider had chosen to wear a crossbody bag, covering more than half of the text. While waiting at the airport, I spent a long time trying to guess what the full sentence might have been, as if it contained some kind of truth.

‘These past few days in western Bali, the number of white people- and even people in general- has gradually thinned out, and I’ve started to see sth closer to what Indonesia itself looks like. Today we ate at a local seafood warung hidden away inside a village. I watched children playing games, after living in cities for so long, I had almost forgotten that play could be this organic and pure…

The owner was picking tamarind from the tree in their own yard and gave us a few straight from the branches. They were so good. Riding on the back of a motorbike through the hills, children in the fields in the distance waved at us, their little faces breaking into the most innocent smiles.

I hope the people of this land can be treated with respect, and receive the blessings they deserve.’

37 degrees in London today, another heatwave. My hair is short again, can’t bear the heat, even with work to do. Received these beautiful film photos from 51, taken during our trip to Greece last winter before she went back to China. 想她！On that trip, I met my alter ego-an ancient Greek lioness sculpture with a mane.

This summer, I look a little different. Maybe I carried sth back from that trip, and I’m still somewhere on a spectrum?! started practising nunchucks at home literally three days ago, lol random hobby era, surprisingly loving it. by @internal_cazimi

Calling all crybabies! 🥹🥹🥹

Tears are most commonly associated with sadness, yet trickle between shame, ecstasy, grief and catharsis, gushing against the floodgates of restraint. 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙙 𝙈𝙚 𝘾𝙧𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙇𝙚𝙛𝙩 brings together artist film, sound performance, and stand-up comedy to create a playful, intimate gathering where crybabies can collectively release their inhibitions.

Life update, astrologically, on my 2.5-year Saturn return in Aries journey — and so are two of my best friends. How exciting 😌

I’ve been learning many things lately.
Learning how to play video games.
Learning how to read charts, and becoming eager to question what lies outside the usual boxes. Learning from my favourite book at the moment, Postcolonial Astrology by Alice Sparkly Kat.

Learning how to recognise uncomfortable situations.
Learning how to make art more grounded, slower but powerful.
Learning how to be aggressive, how to be angry.
Learning how to reconnect with old and new friends, and with emotions from the past that still linger in my chest.

And learning how to conquer my own fear.
Still not very good at most of these, but let’s see 🐎maybe don’t need to be…

Also, I’ve stopped using my previous English name “Iris.”
I do like that name, but I’d like you to learn how to say Xinyu. 🙇 appreciated x
