MY SPOKEN WORD POERTY HISTORY: From the mid 90's through to about 2006, I was pretty heavy on the Spoken Word Poerty Scene. I was the host of Trenton, NJ's first ever regularly scheduled poetry venue, "Lyrical Riot", along with my Big Little Sis & partner @behorne. In addition, I was a regular at Bogies in East OrangeNJ, Po'Jazz in Philly at WarmDaddys and A Brave New World, The Nuyorican Poets Cafe in NYC as well as a host of other spots from Brooklyn, Connecticut, Deleware, Baltimore, DC, Chicago, etc. , CoFounded the Poerty Collective "LOUD Black Voices" along with @anjelascott . I also created and ran the largest Spoken Word Poerty website of i's kind connecting the community across six continents with over 30,000 unique hits a month, DeepWaterSoulCafe(defunct). I authored eight chapbooks and one full length poerty collection, "Where There's Smoke". I also produced the last great poerty festival of the last century, WORD FURY hosted by @tamararjwrites . I poured blood, sweat and tears into the modern day Spoken Word Scene. I'm not out every night chasing mics and performing feature sets like days past. But don't sleep, I'm known to pop up unexpectedly and blaze a mic.....anywhere 🤣🤣🤣 by @internationalmel

✔tomorrow is never promised
✔not everyone makes it out this life alive
✔not everyone that starts with you, finishes with you
✔not everyone with you, is REALLY wit' you
✔mistakes have consequences
✔everyone is loyal... until they betray you
✔take care of you and yours first
✔never give up on yourself
✔sometimes you have to stand alone
✔you can lie to the world, you can't lie to yourself
✔you can make it through the storm
✔questions of, "Why?" are sometimes only answered in the loudness that loudness speaks

Back in the late 90s, I took a slam team to battle at the Nuyorician Poets Cafe. On my slam team was my girl KRob. She brought with her and introduced me to this brother from Philly, Black Ice. The rest they say is history. by @internationalmel

Happy New Year. I started 2025 in the gym. I finished 2025 in the Gym. After dinner and partying with @lizroysteryoung at our favorite restaurant @adour_bistro, I was at the gym to start 2026 of right. Business as Usual and saw some of the usual suspects. December 17, 1961 ~ August 26, 2025

In loving memory of beloved Alexander Romeo Capulong, Jr., who passed away on August 26, 2025. Beloved husband of Asuncion, loving parent of Adam, Leslie, and Gabrielle, cherished brother of Eduardo, devoted son of Adoracion, and treasured first grandchild of the Cajucom-Capulong family.

A wake will be held at Michalski Funeral Home in Jersey City on Sunday, 8/31 at 1pm-5pm, and Monday, 9/1 at 1pm-5pm. Parking will be at 310 6th Street (between Monmouth St and Coles St).
