A moment for the crown 👑 ✨

I owe a huge thank you to everyone who’s made this journey to becoming International United Ms. possible!

@ashleyrenes is unbeatable when it comes to finding the perfect pageant wardrobe and Ashley and her staff have gone above and beyond to help me have last minute pieces to perfect my wardrobe.

@confidenceandpoise - Mary Swenson isn’t just a pageant coach, she’s a friend and an ear to listen when the panic of competition sets in or real life becomes a little heavy. If you need help nailing your introduction or interview Mary is your girl!

@magicdreamsproductions I can’t thank you enough for squeezing me in and helping me get these fabulous headshots with my new piece of hardware 👑

Stay tuned for more thank yous and my tips on the best in the industry! 😘

Thank you to every person who listened, learned, shared my story, and believed that intersex representation matters. 💜💛
This crown is an incredible honor, and I can’t wait to spend this year using it to replace fear with understanding.

I love a crown. I love the gowns, the stage, the competition, the friendships and yes, I absolutely love the sparkle. 👑

But the older I get, the more I realize that winning is actually the least interesting part of being a titleholder.

Eventually the crown goes back in the box. Someone else gets the sash. Someone else gets their moment.

What stays is what you did while people were listening.

So to every girl chasing a crown, and every woman lucky enough to already be wearing one: enjoy the heck out of it. Take the pictures. Wear the crown to the grocery store if you want. 😂

But don’t get so busy being a titleholder that you forget to be a person worth remembering.

The crown gets passed on. The impact doesn’t have to. 💎

Crown off. Pajamas on. 👑🩵

Took a quick overnight trip to Chicago with my kiddo and obviously had to bring a little piece of @internationalunitedmiss with me.

Thank you @pageantprints for gifting us these adorable custom IUM pajama pants. I think I found my official titleholder travel uniform. ✈️✨

She is the reason the overly opinionated comments don’t bother me.
I know who I am, I know MY truth so my troll friends, your comments don’t do anything to me other than remind me, uninformed people are everywhere so I guess I better keep educating 💛💜

I am so glad I took the chance on @internationalunitedmiss - there’s always a million reasons not to do something, but time is a thief my friends, so there’s no better time than the present.

Don’t have regrets start your IUM journey today!

The crown is beautiful. What you choose to do with it is even better 👑

This year, I’m using mine to tell the story I once thought I had to hide, make intersex people more visible, and change conversations one person at a time.

Wear the crown, tell the story, change the conversation.

I see you 👀
I know I am not alone in having the pageant, or “thing” that you watch, save, and think about but just never go for.
That was me with @internationalunitedmiss - I started watching the system when my friend @theesarabailey won. If you follow Sara you know she’s a true queen! She had the glam, the sisterhood, and all the things on display that made me want to GO FOR IT.
But every year I’d say I was going to do it and then didn’t.
This past year I finally (after years of being the silent stalker 😂) submitted my application and dove in.
I am so glad I did, not because the result was the international crown but because the experience as a whole was WORTH IT.
I showed my daughter that you don’t need to give up your dreams because of your age, I made new friends, I taught people about what it’s like having a difference in sex development (DSD) and most importantly I did something for ME which as a woman over 40 has become something rare.
Maybe IUM isn’t the “thing” you’re going back and forth on but no matter what it is you won’t regret just trying.
