↩️ RETURN OF THE CRINGE 😬

Those of you who know me know that KCSB will always be my home. And lately, I’d been feeling homesick. So I decided to take a trip to space camp…“Homesick at Space Camp” that is! 🏕️

I had so much fun revisiting my old @kcsbfm stomping ground as a guest on @illuminaila’s show “Homesick at Space Camp” back in February! (Space Mission THU_021226_NI_HR2) 📡 🌌. I put DJ Blasé back on the shelf for a few minutes and dusted off my old moniker - DJ Cringe - that I used for my now 4(!) year old radio show, @internetexcess! 📲📻

Watch Naila and I catch up about where I’ve been and what we’ve been up to, reminisce on the good ol’ days, and talk about KCSB’s impact on my life. Was such a great convo, and I had a blast! 🚀 (booo, corny, CRINGE, 🍅🍅🍅)

For context: from April ‘22 to Sept. ‘24, I was live on 91.9FM almost every week. 🔴📻 Then, from Sept. ‘24 until Internet Excess’ hiatus in summer ‘25, I was recording “pre-rec” shows from home 🎙️…Meaning that this was my first time back live on-air (in the KCSB Control Room) since SEPTEMBER 2024. 😭 And god, did it feel good to be back!

Ty SO MUCH to @illuminaila, my forever KCSBestie (since ‘21!) for having me on as a surprise guessssssttt I love you! 💕

LOOK GARY THERE I AM! 📰🎉

Can’t believe I’m in the @sbindependent?! Being in print in *some* capacity (be it as a journalist or as a performer being written about) has been a dream of mine since I was little. And as a music journalist/radio broadcaster at @kcsbfm, communication major, and avid reader of cultural journalism, this is especially cool. 😁📡🗞️

Further, I find it especially fitting that State Fest will be taking place on my radio show @internetexcess’s Golden birthday (4th birthday on 4/4)! 🥳📻

Internet Excess will forever be my pride and joy, a passion project that taught me how to think more critically about music, how to dig deeper into the genres and scenes I care about, and, of course, how to DJ. 🎶 I am where I am today because of the path that journalism set me on, 4 years ago this week. 💕🎂

Thank you @tianamolony for this article. A HUGE thank you to @mjumiapp for having me be a part of the first ever @statefestsb - it’s truly an honor 🫶🏼

Be sure to come to @thelittlebarsb at @eoslounge this Saturday at 6-9pm for my “Physical” set 🏋️‍♀️🛼, and stick around for @soundlotsb, @tvlimusic, @falsepuppetband, @dj.fritzi, and more at EOS throughout the night! 🪩🎉

For Internet Excess’ two-part, 3 Year Anniversary episode (4/5/22 being our first airdate!), I had the one, the only, my bestie DJ L E (@littlefang.xyz) on the show!!! 🎉🥳

‼️🛜 LINK TO EPISODE IN BIO, OR SCAN THE QR CODE ON 2ND SLIDE ABOVE 🛜‼️

DJ L E and I have been best friends for thirteen (13!!) years - literally half of our lives. 😳

Between being the person to broaden my music taste in high school, and being the person to introduce me to Hyperpop in the first place, it’s not an exaggeration to say that Internet Excess wouldn’t exist without them. 💕 Ellie is truly one of my biggest musical inspirations, and someone who’s taste I trust with my life ‼️

Also, look at that side-by-side of us in 2012(!) and us today 🥲 - the more things change, the more things stay the same 🥹❤️

Listen to hear us discuss:
- their musical journey
- genre contradictions
- The Strokes and One Direction
- perceptions of “coolness” as a teen (and how musical consumption forms identity)
- “indie twang” music
- and so much more 🥹🤪

Love you DJ L E! <3

(PART 2 - EPISODE 79 - COMING SOON!)
