💜💛🌈 26 OCTOBER 2026 | A DAY OF PRIDE, VISIBILITY & CELEBRATION! 🌈💛💜
🎉 HAPPY INTERSEX AWARENESS DAY! 🎉 🎂 HAPPY 4TH ANNIVERSARY, THE VOICE OF INTERSEX INDIA! 🎂
Four years ago, on 26 October 2022, Intersex Awareness Day, The Voice of InterSex India was launched in Bangkok, Thailand, alongside Asian regional activists and members of the intersex community.
Today, we celebrate four years of courage, resilience, community, and collective action! 💜✨
🌟 FOUR YEARS OF CONNECTING THE DOTS! 🌟
From amplifying intersex voices to building bridges across marginalised communities, our journey is rooted in one powerful belief:
💛 When we unite our voices, connect our struggles, and stand together, we become stronger in our fight for equality, dignity, and justice.
As an intersex-led organisation, we continue to advocate for: 💜 Intersex visibility, rights, and recognition
💛 Bodily autonomy and informed consent
💜 Respectful and inclusive healthcare
💛 Education, awareness, and community empowerment
💜 Intersectional solidarity with Dalit, disabled, transgender, and other marginalised communities
💛 Inclusive policies and equal rights for all
🌈 OUR VISION IS BIGGER THAN ONE COMMUNITY.
We believe that no marginalised community should have to fight alone. By connecting our movements and standing in solidarity, we can create a future where everyone's identity, body, dignity, and rights are respected.
📣 THIS INTERSEX AWARENESS DAY, WE BEGIN A NEW CHAPTER!
Introducing #IDAIYINAM – இடையினம், our bilingual Tamil and English series to share intersex realities, understand intersex variations, challenge myths, and build awareness through knowledge, lived experiences, and community voices.
✨ Every week. புதிய அறிவு. புதிய புரிதல். புதிய மாற்றம்! ✨
🎊 To our intersex community, activists, allies, and supporters: thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we will continue connecting the dots, uniting voices, and building a stronger movement for justice and equality.
💜 HAPPY INTERSEX AWARENESS DAY 2026! 💛 🎂 HAPPY 4TH ANNIVERSARY, THE VOICE OF INTERSEX INDIA! 🎂

As mainstream media does calculations of our surgery costs in 2026, tries to figure out how to articulate stories outside "human interest" about trans people, and runs out of liberal pundits to write think pieces on the act-

Some news about recommendations submitted to the Asha committee. The advisory committee set up by the Supreme Court of India to recommend equal opportunity policy, grievance redressal mechanisms etc under the unamended 2019 act.

TISRC (@tisr.c) TMRF (@tmrf.sa) and VOIS (@intersex.india) are likely to formally release and discuss the recommendations in the coming days.

Demand an Intersex Inclusive Explanation on Hand Book 20026:

2026 Supreme Court Gender Handbook – An Intersex Perspective
The Supreme Court of India’s 2026 Handbook on Judgments and Gender highlights important principles such as human dignity, bodily autonomy, privacy, informed consent, bodily integrity, the best interests of children, and protection from gender stereotypes.
These are important for Intersex rights too.
However, there is a concern about the terminology used on Page 38.
The Handbook mentions Hijra, Thirunangai, Thirunambi and Jogappa, and then refers to “Intersex” in a way that may create confusion.
Intersex is NOT the same as Transgender.
But The Indian Union Gov Ministry of Social Justice Amended an Act Which is NOT acceptable
The very purpose of the Transgender Amendment Act 2026 appears to be to merge two distinct communities in a way that conceals, suppresses, and silences their differences—thereby undermining the rights, development, recognition, individual autonomy, and bodily diversity of both communities.

Intersex ≠ Transgender
Intersex ≠ Third Gender
Intersex ≠ Hijra
Intersex ≠ Thirunangai
Intersex ≠ Thirunambi
Intersex ≠ Jogappa
Some transgender people may also be intersex, but not all Intersex people are transgender.
Intersex people can have different gender identities, gender expressions and sexual orientations.
Intersex is not a gender identity.
Intersex refers to natural variations in a person’s sex characteristics, such as chromosomes, hormones, reproductive organs or genital characteristics.
Intersex Children Need Specific Protection
The Handbook should clearly address:
🔹 Bodily autonomy and informed consent for Intersex children
🔹 Protection from medically unnecessary and irreversible interventions
🔹 A clear difference between medically necessary treatment and unnecessary interventions
🔹 Privacy and confidentiality of Intersex medical information
🔹 Sensitisation training for judges, lawyers, police and healthcare professionals
🔹 Direct participation of Intersex people and Intersex-led organisations in policy-making
Our Key Demands
✅ Correct the terminology on Page 38.
✅ Clearly distinguish Intersex from Transgender and by @intersex.india

As the Trans Amendment Act 2026 is declared to be in force from 25th May 2026, we keep pressing the Opposition-ruled states to make their stand clear.
Requesting all community members, allies, collectives and concerned individuals to join us in demanding that the Opposition act to protect the Constitutional rights of trans, gender diverse and intersex people.
Share, vote, issue statements, ask them how they propose to protect trans+intersex rights, now that the act is supposed to be in force. by @intersex.india

ntersex voices are real.
Intersex rights are human rights.
We are not invisible, not a mistake, and not a debate.
We deserve dignity, healthcare, legal recognition, and bodily autonomy.

Some good news and relief for our community in Nepal and Kenya, but the Trans Amendment Act is still here. And we have nowhere to go. We don't want a party wing derogatorily numbered "9", or token members in any political party, nor any more clipped videos of speeches from the Parliament.

The collective demand was and is a complete repeal of the amendment act. We have not forgotten, even if people have moved on thinking it's now all in court. The elections are over, all governments sworn in. The opposition had given its word. Has it been burnt in the LPG crisis?

Community members who didn't have any resources collected it through crowd funds and travelled to Delhi. Community members who were forcibly kept out of Delhi used every conceivable platform to speak, collectivise, educate and resist.

If the opposition cabinets don't know how to draft a resolution because they are more familiar with making AI reels or sending everything to court, they can write to us. We will draft it for them.

(Hopefully after we get an extension for the committee report). by @intersex.india
