As we’ve now reached over 2000 followers we thought we should introduce ourselves!

We are 2 #Surrey mums who love to explore and shout about the local businesses.

👉🏻 I’m Vicki, one half of @intheknowsurrey . I met Karen (the other half) at our eldest preschool 8 years ago, and we’ve been friends since! Our kids are friends, our husbands are friends (we may have forced them into that one, they had to be!) and now we all holiday together!

👉🏻Mum to 2 boys or 3 if you count my husband! I’ve been with my husband (aka @instateeshots )for 23 years, married 16 years this year! We met @bournemouthuni whilst working in Bar Med.

👉🏻 Grew up in #Berkshire, lived and worked in #London after uni, and now settled in #Surrey.

👉🏻 Before kids, I worked for Harvey Nichols restaurants. Started straight out of uni @oxo_tower as a graduate trainee and worked my way up to become a restaurant manager in their city restaurant.

👉🏻 I’ve got a degree in hospitality and I’m a massive foodie so as you can imagine I love dining out with family and friends.

👉🏻 I’m WSET (@wsetglobal ) trained and love my wines!

👉🏻 Christmas in my own house doesn’t feel like Christmas! I know, sounds awful! Hear me out! As a child I was always away for Christmas. When I was 6, my cousin bought a hotel in Norwich and she always shut it at Christmas. The whole family went and stayed, so having the whole hotel to yourself was pretty amazing!

👉🏻 I work to go on holidays - what is the point otherwise?! Whether it is a girls trip, weekend away or a family holiday, I’ll go anywhere! Next stop for me (and Karen!) ….Porto!

This is me!!

👉🏻 I’m Karen, the other half of @intheknowsurrey . As you know I met Vicki (the other half) at our eldest preschool 8 years ago and we’ve never looked back. She’s 💯 % my ride or die.

👉🏻Mum to 2 - 1 football crazy boy and 1 sassy girl! I’ve been with my other half for 23 years, longer than I’ve been without him!

👉🏻 Grew up in Biggin Hill but Surrey has my heart!

👉🏻 I also have a hospitality degree (as does Vicki obvs) but left the hospitality industry behind shortly after uni. I wasn’t keen on the unsociable hours, so now I work in HR for a law firm.

👉🏻 I love to horse ride and there is nothing better than galloping across Epsom downs of a sunny Friday morning. Future ambition is to ride Botswana with my daughter.

👉🏻 My favourite holiday destination is #vegas . After being lucky enough to experience an epic big birthday last year with Stewart tours I’m already plotting to go back v soon!

👉🏻 I love to shop for both myself and others. The Evri man knows my house well 🤣

👉🏻 upcoming highlights for 2024 include; trip to Malaga, cruise around the med, Taylor Swift concert and ABBA Voyage!

✨ A little culture, creativity & a lovely lunch at The Lightbox in Woking 🎨🍽️

We headed to The Lightbox in Woking today to see the fantastic Philip Colbert exhibition — and what a colourful, fun and completely bonkers collection! 🦞🎨

If you’re not familiar with Philip Colbert, his work is instantly recognisable, with his iconic lobster character appearing throughout his bold, pop-art-inspired pieces. It’s bright, playful and definitely an exhibition that gives you plenty to look at!🦞My favourite piece was his ‘where’s wally?!’ piece - every time you looked at it, something else caught your eye.

And of course, no visit is complete without lunch! We also got to try the food from the new café owners, @jgkitchenco The food was absolutely lovely, with a great selection and a really welcoming feel. 🍴☕️

It’s always nice to discover somewhere that works for a whole day out — art, a wander around Woking and a good lunch all in one place.

We headed to @lightwateradventuregolf for a round of crazy golf with my two boys who are both golfers, so they were very excited to put their skills to the test. The grandparents came too as you are never too old right?!

It’s a fairly basic crazy golf course, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t fun — we had a good fun, and for the price it’s a nice option for a casual family outing.

There are a couple of fun photo opportunities along the way, including a golf cart that’s perfect for a quick snap 📸🏌️‍♂️ and, at hole 18, one of those boards where you put your head through for a silly photo!

Unfortunately, we only made it as far as hole 13 before our day took an unexpected turn. It was very hot on Friday and my mum suddenly became severely heat exhausted, so we had to stop and get her cooled down quickly. Thankfully, we were able to get her somewhere cool and focus on getting her feeling better. Big thanks to Chris for being so helpful!

One thing worth knowing if you’re visiting on a really hot day: there isn’t a huge amount of shade or seating, so definitely take plenty of water, sun protection and plan accordingly. ☀️💦

Despite our shortened game, the boys were already talking about their scores and wanting a rematch! They are so competitive! So I’d say it’s worth a visit if you’re looking for a simple, affordable bit of family fun.

A utterly brilliant day @mercedesbenzworld with the boys today. The boys were lucky enough to be given driving experiences from their grandparents for their birthdays and today was the day they got to use them. A track driving experience and a 4x4 driving experience in a car worth £143,000! I cannot fault how organised they were and their driving instructor, Anthony, was such a calming influence! The boys have definitely got the driving bug now and we will be back.

Throughout the day we made the most of being there and did their F1 simulator, scalextric, lunch at their bistro which over looks the track and of course viewing all the different cars. It’s a brilliant day out!

We visited @hobbledown_epsom yesterday for their Capybara Half Term Week and had a brilliant day out! I won’t lie… the 30-degree heat definitely helped ☀️
There’s so much included throughout the park — from bird shows and keeper talks, to the Adventure Quest Passport, daily competitions, and even a bubble disco for the little ones 🫧
We were also gifted a lovely goodie bag and a marble (usually £3!) to use on the marble runs around the park, which the kids absolutely loved… because who doesn’t love a marble run?!
For lunch, we took a picnic and made the most of the sunshine. There are plenty of spots dotted around the park, with lots of shade from the trees, or if you’d prefer, there’s also a café and pizza house for food 🍕🌳
My boys are older now, but they still had such a great time—it’s a brilliant day out for families with children of all ages. They’ve already said they’d love to take their younger cousin with us next time!
This is one to add to your list - a great half-term activity with plenty to keep everyone entertained all day 🦫✨

We popped into @borgoreigate last week for my son’s birthday and it’s definitely one to have on your radar. The decor is gorgeous – warm, stylish, and thankfully not echoey (you can actually hear your dinner conversation).

The food was really enjoyable, though we did find some dishes a little on the salty side – our only real critique.

That said, it’s a lovely addition to the local high street and well worth a visit if you’re after a cosy Italian night out. I love that we have another independent restaurant on the scene.

Wind tried to cancel our plans, but we weren’t having it 🌬️🎢

Started the day at Thorpe Park with a bit of a delay while the rides shut due to the wind… not exactly the start I had in mind with two excited kids. However, as soon as things got going, we made up for lost time fast.

We took on all the big ones 💥
Swarm ✔️
Nemesis ✔️
Colossus ✔️
…and of course, Hyperia 🔥

Hyperia was hands down the best ride of the day. The wait? 90 minutes (when it said 35 😬) — but honestly, still 100% worth it. That first drop alone made the whole queue disappear from memory.

The rest of the day ran smoothly, with queues pretty much spot on or even shorter!

Tired feet, big laughs, and a day with the kids ❤️

Anyone else got plans to visit this Easter holidays?
Don’t do what I did and miss their current offer of “Twice the Fun”, one ticket = another day out… so you get to do it all over again!

Cappadocia in #Redhill is a real gem. The décor is genuinely lovely — warm, stylish, and inviting — though it can get a bit noisy when the restaurant fills up. That said, the atmosphere still feels lively rather than overwhelming.

The staff were friendly and efficient throughout our visit, striking that perfect balance between attentive and relaxed. The food was excellent: fresh, flavourful, and generously portioned. In fact, the portions were so generous that we ended up taking some home with us, which is never a bad problem to have. Prices were very reasonable too, especially considering the quality and quantity.

Overall, a great experience and definitely somewhere I’d happily return to.

Celebrated my son’s big day in the most action-packed way @gopaintballlondon on Sunday.

From epic team battles to non-stop adrenaline, the kids had an absolute blast. Amazing staff, well-organised games, and the perfect setup for a birthday they’ll never forget.

If you’re looking for a party idea that’s a little different and full of energy, this is definitely one to check out.

Spring is in the air 🌷. Lovely walk through Gatton park today, soaking up the sunshine and the bluebells are just starting to bloom. Made it to the top and treated ourselves to a stop at @junction8_ before heading back via the fort. Feeling grateful for this stunning spot so close to home.
