This has been on my mind a lot lately! Completely amazed that the Lord invites me to not only dwell at His table but to eat and PARTAKE in His glory, freedom, and joy! Never once have I deserved this and, somehow, never once has He withheld it from me.

In 2 Samuel I have seen a perfect picture of the gospel through David and Mephibosheth. Mephibosheth was fatherless and lame as a very young child. In 2 Samuel chapter 9, David seeks him out and tells him that his father’s land will be restored to him and he shall eat at David’s table always! Mephibosheth was welcomed to partake in a reward he did not work for or deserve! He received David’s generosity with humility —> “what is your servant, that you should show regard for a dead dog such as I?” (2 Sam. 9:8).

And this is the same WILD generosity of the Father!!! We are the abandoned, the useless, those who return to their sin like a dog to its vomit, “doomed to death” as Mephibosheth puts it in chapter 19. Yet, our gracious Savior Jesus was sent to dwell among the filthiest of sinners and welcome us to eat at His table for all eternity if we put our faith in Him. He desired this relationship to the point of death! 🥹

In 2 Samuel 19, David returns to Jerusalem 20 years later and finds Mephibosheth in the same state— humbled and blessed by David’s generosity. The blessing has completely changed the lives of Mephibosheth‘s family. In verse 30, he gave up his share of the land David granted him because his king David had returned home! This is such an important parallel to the gospel!! After David fled, Mephibosheth watched and waited for his return (he didn’t even trim his beard or wash his clothes) because of his immense loyalty to David. And this is the attitude we’re to have about Jesus. All that will matter in this life is what happens when Jesus returns. We are to be watchful and diligent. Because of the cross we’re invited to partake in a relationship with Jesus, to eat at His table for eternity, while also preparing for life with Him after His return! by @intheoverflow_

HAPPY RESURRECTION DAY!! Jesus is alive, not just today, but every single day for eternity! He has proven to be true and perfect and holy, defeating sin and then defeating death itself!! The grave could not hold Him, and there is nothing He can’t and won’t do to rescue His children!!!!

If Jesus left the grave, we too, could run out with Him! He rose again to bring the Trinity glory but also to redeem us from sin’s curse. We get new life because HE HAS PAID FOR EVERYTHING THAT ONCE TRAPPED US!!! Jesus was the perfect sacrifice and His blood is sufficient to cover the things that separate us from Him! So why would we cling to sin or guilt or labels or what the world says? We are no longer bound by those things! We are no longer to be found with the dead world, but (undeservedly) with Jesus who is ALIVE. We can leave all sin and shame in the tomb because Jesus was gracious enough to be our substitute!

May we never lose the joy and gratitude and wonder that is today! The God of Heaven was sent to this world in human flesh, to live a perfect, sinless life. Though perfect, Jesus was arrested and killed because of our personal sin, and ROSE AGAIN— proving that He is holy and spotless!! And He has given us the opportunity for eternal life that is free for us but has been ransomed by His blood.

For those who believe in Christ as Savior, Jesus now stands in between us and the Father, so that when He looks upon us— He only sees the blood and sacrifice of His perfect Son. So our whole lives should be devoted to the One who conquered the grave on our behalf, and set us free to new life! Our lives should be testimonies that Jesus is alive and working! Our sin was imputed to Him so that His righteousness could be imputed to us. We are so unworthy. We worship a Savior who is gracious, perfect, able to save, and ALIVE. Thank You Jesus!!!!! 🥹🥹🥹

“And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee,”

But He was pierced for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with His wounds we are healed.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53‬:‭5‬

The most gruesome day in history, called good because an innocent Man paid the price for OUR evil deeds. He was pierced, tortured, mutilated, abandoned. The only perfect Man to walk the earth, left to take on the weight of all sin and shame. He was 100% man and 100% God. Perfect, yet fully able to feel every human emotion and every ounce of pain that comes with an inhumane crucifixion. Jesus had to experience separation from the Father for the first time— lonely, humiliated, forsaken by the very ones He chose to die for.

And He would do it again if JUST ONE OF US would have the chance for salvation from ourselves. OUR sin nailed Jesus to the cross, OUR sin stopped His heart. And what kept Him there was His vast and never-ending love for us. He willingly went and sacrificed His spotless life so that He could confidently say IT IS FINISHED!!

The very void between us and God that we created by running back to our flesh, like a dog to his own vomit. The curse that our evil nature put into place. All reversed because Jesus said it is finished. Our striving, our failure, our FLESH and SIN can all be put to rest because Jesus paid it all. Good Friday was not in any way a glamorous or “good” day for Jesus. He was completely abandoned and broken. Yet Jesus, rich in mercy and humility, calls it good because His sacrifice resulted in our pardon. It resulted in the chasm being broken and the veil being torn so that in our imperfection and wickedness at heart, we can have a fully intimate relationship with Him. Praise Jesus for what He did on the cross. by @intheoverflow_

GOD DOES NOTHING BY ACCIDENT! This is something the Lord has been intentionally teaching me lately. Our God is a very personal, purposeful Father.

Ephesians 1:11 says God works all things according to His will. Every person, every conversation, every redirection… all divinely written so that the will of God would be fulfilled. That gives life so much meaning and excitement! Each day we can wake up with confidence that God is purposeful, and is working behind the scenes to intentionally send us people and moments that honor Him!!

God also didn’t accidentally create us. The devil loves to use insecurity and comparison to trap our generation. He whispers that we aren’t as talented or pretty or smart as everyone else. Because insecurity distracts us from a pure relationship with Christ. And the TRUTH is… a PERFECT GOD personally designed us in a way that would honor and glorify Him. I encourage you to read Psalm 139 and see how valuable you are in God’s sight. Never once has He created someone, and wished He made them like someone else. Never once has He looked at someone and picked them apart— He sees us with value and beauty. He did not create us with lack of anything but He created us with detail and specific attributes that reflect and worship Him! He created us then loved us enough to die for us.

And Jesus didn’t accidentally die for you. Jesus looked at the insecure, broken, prideful son or daughter and made an intentional choice to DIE FOR THEM. He died an rose with intention, so that the child who has strayed away time and time again can come to Him in freedom, cut off from shame. WHAT A GOD!!!! It increases my love for Him that He purposefully chose to die for me, and He purposefully chooses to love me and intercede for me on a daily basis. We serve an intentional Father ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 by @intheoverflow_

Merry Christmas!!!!! What a joyful day it is when we get to celebrate our humble and compassionate Savior’s birthday 🥹🥹 “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah‬ ‭9‬:‭6‬ ‭♥️

We get to celebrate Christmas, not because of the presents or lights, but because JESUS WAS BORN FOR OUR ADOPTION AND RECONCILIATION TO THE FATHER. We get to celebrate because Jesus was born with an easy yoke and light burden we can now experience! Jesus was born out of pure love, as we all needed rescuing from the bondage of sin and He is the only possible solution!

The same King who was born in Bethlehem thousands of years ago is the same King we get to know one on one today. He carries the same gentle and lowly spirit and desires YOU, despite the sin that once separated you from Him. THAT is the greatest gift we will ever receive– His grace & salvation & peace & provision that surpass understanding. We get the gift of His unfailing love and sanctification day in and day out. We are blessed beyond measure through genuine faith in Christ Jesus! What a perfect gift! 🥹🥹

My prayer for each of you today is that you take time to look past the gifts, circumstances, and decorations which are only temporary and set your joy and appreciation on the never ending gift of Jesus Christ and His salvation! He is so gracious ♥️♥️♥️ by @intheoverflow_

Ex. 10:3– Moses and Aaron came in to Pharaoh and said to him, “Thus says the Lord God of the Hebrews: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, that they may serve Me.

God has been using the story of Moses to teach me a lot about the attitude of Pharaoh compared to most people today. Time and time again in exodus, the Lord would plague Egypt and when these plagues affected pharaoh directly, he wanted Moses to plead with the Lord to take it away. As soon as the plague was gone, pharaoh’s heart would be hardened and he would not acknowledge the Lord’s presence OR obey His commands.

Pharaoh wanted God’s mercy from a distance, without repenting or going all in. He didn’t think he needed God when he got all that he wanted. Going all in for God would interfere with the treasures and comfort he experienced on earth. Obeying God and letting the Israelites go meant he would have to let go of what gave him power and treasure. Despite all of God’s signs and wonders right in front of his face, pharaoh saw what the world offered him and counted that as more important. The Lord saw that pharaoh was full of pride and asked how long he would refuse to humble himself for!

This is convicting because SO many people in this generation have this same mindset. We find worth and contentment in the treasures of earth if they give us status or temporary satisfaction. We want God’s mercy and blessing without wanting to give Him all of us. Just like pharaoh, we want God to take the difficult parts of life away, but we don’t want to submit to Him and obey all that He asks us to do. In order to enter into the fullness of God, we MUST submit to His authority– realizing that no matter what we have going for us on earth, we are nothing compared to the Lord. We must surrender to Him, instead of holding on to the things that give us comfort on earth. We can’t just expect the blessings of God if we don’t WANT GOD. To be a follower of Christ, we’re called to die to our flesh and follow Jesus, laying aside all our former passions. We have to kill our pride daily and submit with fear and obedience! That is how we find true satisfaction 🤍 by @intheoverflow_

Hebrews 12:28–29!! Happy Thanksgiving!!! 🤎🤎🤎 I am so grateful for what Jesus did on the cross and grateful that because He died and rose again, I now have access to an abundant and giving God.

I have been noticing a lot in scripture how gratitude is best felt and displayed through worship! There are several times in scripture where the Lord shows up, and that causes the person receiving His blessing to worship. They stop where they are, build an altar and make a sacrifice, and praise God for what He’s done. That is convicting, because how many times do we receive God’s blessings with a quick “thank you” or with any gratitude at all?! HE HAS BEEN SO GOOD TO US. So good that we become numb to it at times and don’t realize how many miracles are right in front of us!

So, I have been convicted to sacrifice more of my time to truly worship and thank God for the many things He has done for me! And this can be a daily practice, not just on Thanksgiving! Purposely be reminded of all of the mountains He moves and the many blessings He gives and praise Him for it!

I am thankful that because Jesus has adopted and redeemed me, I have access to grace and mercy from the Creator of the universe!! I am grateful to know His heart and to see it through the world around me! He is faithful and good! 🥹🥹 by @intheoverflow_

“BE STILL, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46‬:‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬.

The Lord is teaching me a lot about intentionally slowing down to be able to spend time at His feet. The world is progressively getting more fast paced and overstimulating, and I believe that is because the ruler of this world– the devil– knows that so much of God is found in the stillness. The peace of God is found in the stillness. The joy of God is found in the stillness. God’s very heart and voice is found in STILLNESS and SLOWNESS! In the Bible, the Lord meets Elijah and it very clearly says He was not in the strong wind, earthquake, or fire… but He spoke in a soft whisper (1 Kings 19:11-12). It goes against every thing the world stands for and it is so rare but INTIMACY WITH GOD IS FOUND IN SLOWNG DOWN.

Our flesh is hungry to sprint through life– to check everything off of our to-do list each day and to get to the next step as fast as possible, only inviting Jesus in for a short time. But we will be running and running with no fulfillment until we realize the whole point of life is intimacy with Christ. And that relationship is found in slowing down and just being with Him. That is pure fulfillment and it is something that will not pass away. We search for fulfillment in quick things that we won’t even get to bring into eternity instead of finding contentment + rest + peace in the heart of God.

Our faith radically changes when we choose to be still and know that God is sovereign. Before we react or as we take on each day, we have to get rid of the idea that we can do anything in our own strength. We desperately need the guidance and fruit of the Spirit daily and slowing down to be in His presence is the doorway to it. It takes discipline– maybe setting a screen time limit or stopping mid day to talk to God– so you can kill your flesh and open your heart to Jesus. I am grateful to have the OPPORTUNITY to freely meet God in the stillness. He desires to meet you and I there, so I encourage you to slow down and spend intentional time with Him today. 🤎 by @intheoverflow_

A Bible story that the Lord has been really laying on my heart to kill my pride is the Tower of Babel. I think the hearts of most people in the world today are identical to the hearts of the people mentioned in Genesis 11. To summarize… at this point in time, the people all spoke one language. They planned to build a tower that reached the heavens and their intention was extremely prideful: essentially to build a name for themselves. God responded by confusing their languages so they could not communicate and work together on this, showing His power and authority over all creation.

The reason these people fell into sin was because they wanted so badly to make a name for themselves that they were HUNGRY for the world’s attention and competitive with the almighty God. When we begin to crave the attention of the world, we think that we deserve the glory that only God can receive. We should not desire attention for ourselves more than we desire our Father to be glorified. HE DESERVES ALL THE ATTENTION. What power can we hold or deserve compared to the Maker of all creation?? Our greatest works are like filthy rags compared to *even a fraction* of God’s beauty. It should be our greatest desire to give the Lord all the attention. It should be our prayer that everything good in our life points back to our Lord and Savior Jesus.

I’ve been thinking about this story and what the Tower of Babel looks like in the current day, and I think a big comparison is social media. We want to make ourselves look so good and interesting so that we are getting validation from the world. So that our names are great and our status looks great. But even something as small as social media can lead us to compete with the power of God. It’s my prayer that as a generation we can begin to think less of ourselves and think more about bringing Jesus Christ all the attention and glory and awe.

I just think this is very convicting and looks so similar to our hearts in the present day. It encourages me to humble myself before God and ask Him to deny me in situations when the praise is all His 💛 by @intheoverflow_

All the earth shall worship You And sing praises to You; They shall sing praises to Your name.” Selah” Psalms‬ ‭66‬:‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬ !!

If you need to be more fearful & in awe of our God then I would encourage you to read about creation!!! I’ve been reading in Genesis and I am amazed with my Father. The Lord was DETAILED with creation. He was PURPOSEFUL. He was PLEASED, seeing all He made and calling it good!

Reading about God’s heart in creating humans has given me so much confidence and a slightly bigger understanding of how much love He has for us. We were literally made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). He didn’t just make us from scratch, but valued us so much that He decided to make us in His likeness and give us the choice to have a relationship with Him! He created men and women with value & intention & power! And one day every knee will bow in reverence to His holiness (Philippians 2:10-11).

And the very WORD of God holds the power to create everything we’ve ever seen or known!!! That authority DEMANDS our wonder! The sun, rain, skies, seasons, vegetation, day and night all reflect the nature of God. They show us just why He is worthy of our praise! I encourage you to spend time in His creation, read about His power in creation, and praise Him in humility! He is mighty and good! by @intheoverflow_
