The Underground Engine: Zero-Emission Heating. ♨️
To keep the sanatorium’s air completely free of harmful soot and ash, the bathhouse was powered by a 10-kilometer subterranean tunnel system that delivered clean, remote district heating from a distant centralized plant.

Fernwärme, unterirdisch: Emissionsfreie Heizung. ♨️
Um die Luft des Sanatoriums vollständig frei von schädlichem Ruß und Asche zu halten, wurde das Badehaus über ein 10 Kilometer langes, unterirdisches Tunnelsystem versorgt, das saubere Fernwärme aus einem weit entfernten zentralen Heizkraftwerk lieferte.

From sanatorium to lost place to art space.
After serving as a military hospital, the bathhouse fell into disrepair following the withdrawal of Soviet troops in 1994. Thirty years later, visitors can once again explore this historic building. National and international artists are transforming the sanatorium into an immersive art space that blends light, sound, and architecture.
