Survival looks different for everyone.

For me, it looks like three years of no contact.

Three years of choosing myself, even when choosing myself meant sitting alone with the parts of me I had spent so long trying to silence. It wasn’t easy. There were days when freedom felt almost as painful as captivity. But it was worth it.

I dug myself out of the darkness her spirit had kept me ensnared in, piece by piece, and when I finally reached the surface, I never looked back.

I’m different now.

I’m careful. Cautious. I don’t hand my heart over as easily as I once did. Trust is something I build now, not something I give away simply because someone asks for it.

For the last three years, I’ve been single. Not because I couldn’t find someone, but because I needed to find myself. I’ve spent those years healing, growing, learning my own patterns, rebuilding my confidence, and becoming someone I’m proud to live with.

And I want anyone who feels trapped by someone who means them no good to know this:

You can leave. You can survive. You can become someone beyond the person they convinced you that you were.

It may feel like a part of you is dying when you finally let go.

And maybe it is.

Let it die.

Let the version of you who accepted less than you deserved, who confused suffering with love, who kept trying to make sense of what was never meant to make sense, finally rest.

Grieve her.

Then bury her.

Because sometimes survival isn’t about becoming who you were before.

Sometimes it’s about becoming someone you never would have met if you had stayed.

Three years later, I’m still here.

And I have never looked back.

“Cryss what was the highlight of 2025 for you?”
Meeting my music family in real life. I came across @brn.d.n and @itsanamii (there in spirit) first on TT in November of 2024. I fell in love with watching their process for creating hit after hit (and lemme tell you, they can SING). From there I met @jstacksbeats who is B’s best friend but also a FIRE 🔥 producer (and humble because he doesn’t always share his accolades! He lets his work speak for itself). I then met @nursepain as another person frequently in their lives and we both became moderators for B, A’Namii, and Stacks helping them with their TikTok accounts. @albree323 was also a frequent supporter and he makes amazing music as well! Then I discovered @_lowkeymadeit and pulled him in to the family more recently. Fast forward to November 2025 and Courtney and I had the opportunity to assist J with his 6th semi-annual music camp with @jstacksnfriends 🥹 and they were all just as incredibly talented, kind, humble, and funny in real life. What you see is what you get with each of them. And it made my entire year to witness such greatness all in once space. This doesn’t even touch on the amazing talented artists that attended who are now like extended family. My passion has always been helping people. I never saw my skills being useful in a place like the music industry but this gave me a different type of passion that blends my love for music with my love for people. I can’t wait for the next camp! 🏕️ by @introspective_development

One of my favorite moments was this one right here. When 1/3 of the camp attendees were all in mine and @nursepain room talking about life, God, mental health, and what brought us all together. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to get to know such beautiful souls, beyond their talent, in the space between the artist and the art. To the nights that made perfect strangers become extended family and to JStacks for being the vessel that brought us all together 🥂 by @introspective_development
