The Foragers' Collective! 🎪🍄‍🟫🍃
This summer we ventured out into the big wild world to share our knowledge of wild food and foraging processes with hundreds of festival goers! Take a peek at our interactive stall with a...

- Wild market offering cordials, teas, dried fruits and fungi books
- Sensory display table with wild spices, seaweeds, Alexanders root starches, all sorts of nuts and fruits
- Native strain mushroom tincture library with @ffunga.native
- Guess the plant ID game
- Interactive seed processing station for all to have a go!
- Multiple foraging walks throughout the weekend @womadfestival including UV night walks, climate resilient foraging, wild plant songs, foraging for the apocalypse, gentle foraging and many more!

We have come together as an autonomous collective of foragers. We are members of @association_of_foragers which is a brilliant organisation supporting those who teach about wild food. We have also taken part in the @wildbiomeproject which saw us living off a fully wild diet for up to 3 months. Some of us have been working together for many years with @nomadicdinners , and many of us support each other in social and environmental justice activism. And so, a beautiful community has formed through a shared love of the wild and the urge to share our knowledge with others.

Part of my daily routine is providing the basic necessities for my family amidst this hardship. Between handwashing, cleaning, childcare, and teaching them , I'm both mother and teacher. All of this is incredibly exhausting, especially with my pregnancy and studies forme . All I wish for is a decent life and some of comforts .
I desperately need your support to raise the monthly rent for my family and to provide for the basic needs of my children and myself as a pregnant mother. by @inwildservice

DAY 11: Wildbiome beach trip ☀️

Fresh limpets smoked on Sea Buckthorn for the starter, then mackerel @fergustheforager @tendingthewildinside @inwildservice @forestherapies smoked the night before, plus feral apples, pickled sea samphire and oarweed stems for the main! And we made a wild cake for pudding but left it at home ☹️ probs for the best

PROCESSING AND USING ALEXANDER ROOTS:

What a weekend spent with some truly amazing foragers and friends as we explored the process of extracting the starch from alexander roots. This revelation was discovered by @inwildservice and @rural_courses during the @wildbiomeproject last year.

This is probably why the Romans loved this plant and brought it over with them during their conquests. For a long time I wondered why, simply because of the strong acquired taste of the leaves and now it all makes sense.

First year growth we can harvest so much starch with great yield and over the weekend (I forgot to take footage of) we discovered that the second year flowering stems hold so much sugar that you can boil it out into a delicious molasses syrup! How cool is that?!!!!

It amazes me at how much we still don't know about wild food, information that has been lost to undocumented history and these discoveries really bring home just how little we use the full potential of the wild things around us.

We’re coming together to raise vital funds for our friend Manar @hoor.2034 in Gaza — through dance, food, craft, music, and connection.

We’re incredibly honoured to be joined by @juzourdanceco an all-women Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA) dance collective, who will be leading a social Palestinian Dabke workshop.

Dabke is a traditional Levantine line dance deeply rooted in Palestinian culture — a powerful expression of unity, resilience, celebration, and connection to the land.

The session will begin with an introduction to the history and cultural context of Dabke, followed by a warm-up and a joyful, beginner-friendly lesson in some of the core movements and steps.

No dance experience needed — just come as you are ❤️

When the world reaches a point where voices are silenced instead of being heard, know that fear is no longer individual… it has become systemic.

The kidnapping of individuals is not the most dangerous thing happening; the most dangerous is the kidnapping of truth, and the world's growing accustomed to silence, as if it were a form of peace.

In a time when influence terrifies justice, the free word remains the last thing that cannot be restrained… and the first thing that injustice fears.
The world doesn't collapse all at once, but every time a voice is forcibly silenced, and others are asked to coexist with it.

"Three months on wild food, and none of us found truffles!" 😆🍄‍🟫✨️

The lovely @forestherapies made a delicious wild cake and spicy chai to share with visitors. There were incredible wild cookies made by @danniinthewild , and the pemmican gold standard made by @foragefrolics . Beautifully dried fruits, nuts, seeds, and roots were displayed by @inwildservice & @kit.kat.fat. What a table! 😍

Ah, my heart is full seeing these lovelies again.

Our stall @thegreatbritishtrufflefestival shared our experiments with wild food, the potential of sustainable foraging and processing, new wild recipes, and our experiences on the @wildbiomeproject research study eating fully wild for 3 months during both 2023 & 2025.
