giving flowers —— in seoul, september 2024

in one month, i gave 11 bouquets to 11 strangers, exploring the societal meanings behind offering flowers — a gesture often seen as deeply romantic

interestingly, many men only receive their first bouquet upon death

two main emotions; soft shyness and joy (felt by both of us)

3 bouquets were refused, lost in translation and incomprehension
8 were embraced with warmth

people were chosen by their presence:
the grandmother selling ginseng on the street,
the man working at the G25 near my apartment,
the couple who looked so lovely,
the boy at my favorite coffee shop,
the officer at the subway station,
the second-hand shop owner,
the girl who became my close friend,
the lady who made my favorite drink,
the grandfather baking the best bread,
the guy who sat next to me on the bus,

seules sur la montagne

habituée à randonnée avec juste une bouteille d’eau, j’ai pensé bien inutile de remplir autant nos sacs, erreur

concours de celle qui porte le plus haut sa voix et on s’essouffle

la neige blanche brûle nos yeux

allez encore un pas, l’un devant l’autre

respiration, presque en transe, si elle se coupe - l’énergie s’enfuit

et quand la fatigue commence à monter, alors il faut se rendre tonique

manger, rien n’est si meilleur
et encore plus en haut de la montagne

étrangement la barre riz soufflé/marshmallow apparaît encore comme un rêve

et luxe, moudre ses grains pour avoir le meilleur café

Hi I.C.S.,
I read your letter on the way to Lai Son, a soft wind went through my body, thank you.

I hope Paris is sunny & you eat well.

We left Saigon with Thomas, because my skin was so white that sometimes I looked green. Here I love my hair, puffy & frizzy, from the humidity.

I cannot describe the feeling of swimming under water, body felt electric.

In our favorite spots, we were alone.

On the bridge, the coffee was too sweet, but in the hammock was perfect.

We followed the rhythm of the sun.

After choosing a stone in the middle of the ocean, fitting my body to it, I fell asleep.
from 12 to 14, I burned, from green to red.

We probably went around the island nine times.

Ah also, a dog stole one of my shoes in the night. Sadly, the end of a relationship that took me everywhere since four years…

I discovered that my favorite parts of the chicken are the liver and the neck.

Thomas climbs everywhere and it’s nice cause we are comfortable enough to be bored together.

The view in our house froze me. There was no difference between the sky and the water, where am I? taken in Lai Son, Kien Giang, Vietnam by @io.lart
