EC<20 Jeruzalem🇮🇱💫

Ik kan enorm trots terugkijken op afgelopen week! Dromen werden werkelijkheid: Ik maakte mijn debuut in Oranje. Ik heb mij geplaatst voor de finale (en hoe🤯😅) en mag nu zachtjes zeggen dat ik tot een van de beste 1500m lopers van Europa behoor.

Ik kon mij geen betere teamgenoten en staf voorstellen; De hele week omringd door prachtige mensen. Bedankt team voor deze onvergetelijke ervaring🧡🦁 taken in Jerusalem-ירושלים by @ioannlobles

Update: After four weeks of not running, I’ve slowly started up again this week. I feel like I’m not far off from my old level of fitness.

In the meantime, I’ve come to appreciate cycling more. But I hope to rejoin the team soon💜 by @ioannlobles

Unfortunately, my season has come to an early end

After two K.O.’s in my last two races, I was ready to fight back like a true Lobles would and show what I’m worth in my final races of the season. But my body had other plans.

I’ve picked up a small foot injury the week after IFAM. My team and I are doing everything we can to get it under control and get me back to running fully as soon as possible.

Until then, I guess I’ll have to entertain myself like Biniam Girmay. 🚴🏾‍♂️😂 by @ioannlobles

We lean, We learn, We earn, We turn, We burn💜

For the first time, i genuinely believed i had everything it took to win a medal at the Dutch Championships. I trusted my fitness, my preparation and myself.

With one lap to go, I made a tactical mistake and got boxed in. From that moment on, finding a way out and recovering from that mistake was simply too much to ask.

That’s the hardest part to accept. Not because I wasn’t strong enough, but because i know i had a real chance. The guys ahead of me simply raced smarter than I did, and they fully deserved it.

It stings a lot

But this sport has a way of teaching you the toughest lessons. I’ll take this one with me, learn from it, and make sure it makes me a better athlete.
