It's been another full week. I moved to Old Town just shy of three weeks ago. I've been managing a lot of medical outings for chronic conditions and flares and doing lots at home to recover from the move. Last night I went to the one remaining Chinese restaurant in Chinatown Old Town, The Golden Horse Seafood Restaurant, and it was really good. I have leftovers for at least two days. Today I went to Deadstock Coffee in The Hoxton Hotel after a Multnomah County Old Town Summit (for residents, business owners, property owners and some elected officials etc.). I have history with a lot of places in Old Town Chinatown, downtown and all over Portland and the metro area for the past six decades. I'm excited for this era. The stories I could tell. I attended my first neighborhood association meeting. It was held two blocks from home. Old Town has some exciting things coming up, including a mini Halloween night market on NW Davis a block from home. Woohoo! I totally did move home at just the right time. Also pictured: last night’s sunset and crescent moon.
Next up is taking the bus to Float On on Hawthorne. They have a special membership program for those on SNAP or Medicaid. It’s incredible!! I’m so fortunate to have access to all this once again. I’m so grateful. taken in Old Town Chinatown, Portland, Oregon by @iona__river

It’s well known that Old Town is haunted, especially the building where @oldtownpizza is.
The building appeared almost as black as the windows yesterday around 3:45pm. It was as black as the angled rooftop in front of it to the left. The pictures don’t capture it fully. It was partly lighting but this was paranormal. It was sort of like a magic eye painting. It would flash in and out of the pure black and go back to a light grey. I couldn’t look at it when it would flash to black. I’ve never seen a building change colors like this due to shading. My friend was here and he saw it too but it was more like that dress color thing on social media. They saw light grey but I think they weren’t looking long enough to watch it switch to black. Wild shit!

Leave it to scorpionic me with Pluto and Uranus in the 12H and a moon in the 8H to have been drawn to live near multiple haunted places: McMenamins Edgefield, former Dammasch land and now Old Town. Got this cute sticker at the Pride Plaza event yesterday purchased from one of the queer vendors. Pink Pony Frog.
Today I took Ride to Care to Working Class Acupuncture on N Lombard and Portsmouth. The pretty trees are on my street, right under my window. I waited a long time for my ride due to the Portland Marathon which I totally missed even though they ran through my ‘hood 3 damn times today. I got home in time to hit the Darcelle XV garage sale two blocks from home! Then I went to Old Town Pizza. I let out a big sigh and said “I’m home” as soon as I wheeled in. I can’t even begin to count the times I’ve enjoyed that old building and food with family, friends, coworkers since the ‘70s. I can’t eat much of that so I got two to-go boxes. I was sure hoping to find someone to share it with. One block away two men were sitting out in the last of the sunshine leaning up against the old Hung Far Low building, and I asked if they were hungry. Their eyes lit up as I asked if they wanted to help me eat my pizza. They said it was a special treat. Two pieces for each and two for me to take home. Then on to the dispensary to pick up my pre order and then home. All within a few city blocks accessed with my wheelchair. It feels good to be home. The city has some work to do on curb ramps in the area but many are compliant. They are getting there. taken in Portland, Oregon by @iona__river

Another fabulous day in the city of roses! Art, Pride Plaza grand re opening, so many talented stunning Queens! Thank you City of Portland, McMenamins, Poison Waters and everyone else making this possible. Senator Wyden even showed up and said a few words! One of my favorite parts was watching the gays fangirling over the Queens. Adorable and so joyful. by @iona__river

Last night’s dusk crow show and some various bridges from rides to care yesterday. I’m on I-5 rn heading to Meridian Park. Headed for an infusion meditation and lab draw. This is #8 of 8 for this type of infusion. Not counting the 5 for iron.
Tonight is 1st Thursday in The Pearl. I hope I’ll be up for going to a gallery or two. Free pizza buffet at River Pizza and Pool less than a block from home too. taken in Portland, Oregon by @iona__river

That full moon!! Right outside my window the last two nights. Usually off to the right. And other Old Town adventures from yesterday. My old stomping grounds are now my current ones again! I didn’t know if my body could make it outside yesterday but after rest, lots of self care stuff I need daily, support from my homecare worker and a decision not to go to urgent care or ER yet for this ongoing ribcage injury. I decided to wait it out some more and I’m going to Working Class Acupuncture for care a few times this week. It’s free as many times as you want or need to go with Care Oregon OHP Medicaid. Anywho… so happy to be back in my hometown so I can explore within a short range and go home and rest as needed. And I’m so much closer to Oliver, friends and providers. ♥️ I’m forever grateful to all who helped make this happen. Now time for an acupuncture nap! Oh what a night at @darcellexvplaza!! I went out to enjoy the local celebs for free and be with community. I’ve been a Storm Large groupie for over two decades. So happy she showed up. It was fun to spot her playing with her dog before the show with her butterfly wings.

On my way home I stopped for $3.75 tacos. I had enough for two and the food cart vendor gave me the 3 for $10 deal for a discount. I’m about to dig in. I’m so grateful.
