29th DANCEniversary 🩰🧑🏻‍🩰

2 October 1997, the day I officially became a ballet girl.
29 years later, still a ballet girl at heart ☺️

Ballet has made my life so much more colourful.
It has made me dare to dream BIG, sometimes, many times, probably a little too big, and yes, sometimes those dreams scare me. 😂

It has made me cry a little harder, feel a little deeper, see a little more of the world, and meet so many wonderful people along the way.

29 years have not come without change.
My body has changed A LOT. And honestly, I do miss my old body 😂
But none of that has made me love this art form any less.
Perhaps the only thing that has changed is the shape of my relationship with ballet.

Sometimes I’m behind the curtain.
Sometimes I’m the one dreaming up the ideas.
Often, I’m the one thinking way too much. 😂
And, most certainly, I remain a full-time dreamer. 😜

So here’s to another 29x29 years of loving ballet, blindly, madly, wholeheartedly 🥂 ❤️

Our favorite human beings. 🤍

The people who make our hearts overflow with so much love, it sometimes feels like there’s simply too much of it to contain ☺️🥰

You are the ones who move our hearts, make life so much more joyful, and keep us going through all of it.

Friends, colleagues, dance partners, partners in crime, the people we’ve laughed with, cried with, worked with, danced with, and somehow shared so much of life with.

With you all, there’s hardly a line between work and friendship, because somewhere along the way, you simply became one of the biggest part of our lives.

You each hold such a special place in our hearts and truly a blessing from heaven.

What would we be without all of you?

The people who make our hearts feel warm,
who make our hearts swell with love,
and who remind us just how deeply we can love the people we choose to have in our lives.

We may not be bound by blood, but we are bound by love.

You have been there through the years, through the laughter, the chaos, the growing, and all the little moments in between.

We’ve come this far because of the love, friendship, and kindness you’ve given us along the way.

Some places hold more than memories.
They hold generations, prayers, and chapters of a family’s story.

This was the church where my parents got married.
Where my brother and I were baptised.
Where we received our First Holy Communion.
And years later, where we stood before God, Mother Mary, our family, and all those we love and who love us, made the vows we would carry into this life together 🕊️🤍

And to have Pastor @pontemligneum bless our marriage made it even more special.
He was our Sanur class of 2005 “Protector”, he has watched us grow from teenagers into adults, and now into a new chapter of our lives.
Pastur Noel, as you always say “God Loves you and so do I”

Sit with me for a while.

Listen to the soft chimes of porcelain bowls drifting, colliding, and creating their own little soundscape 🥣 🩵

I visited Clinamen by Céleste Boursier-Mougenot a few weeks ago, and somehow, it felt like a gentle reminder to pause.

I’ve been away from home for about 2.5 months now, and often finding myself alone here. So, for a moment, come sit with me, virtually.

Maybe we all need to pause sometimes.

To be where we are.
To feel what we’re feeling.
Without immediately trying to understand it, fix it, or move on.

Life can make us run on autopilot.
So maybe, just for a few minutes, we can slow down and simply listen. 🫧💙

81 years of Independence 🇮🇩

It is not the country I resent,
nor the land that raised me.
It is those who have forgotten the ground beneath them,
looking to the sky,
while stepping on their own people.

So this year, I can only pray for better days.

May Indonesia become what we have always sung it to be “a place to seek shelter in our old age,
until the day we close our eyes”

For the country, I will always have hope.
For those who have forgotten whom they serve,
I can only hope they remember.

Three weeks, somewhere between wonder and uncertainty🗽🍎

It’s like diving headfirst into the ocean before learning how to swim.

Not in a bad way.
Just... all at once.

Sometimes I don’t even know where to begin.

I’ve spent these past three weeks watching performances, attending screenings, wandering around, observing, and saying yes to every opportunity to learn, while quietly figuring out what these six months are meant to become.

I’m still waiting for some of the conversations I came here hoping to have.

Before coming here, I thought the hardest part would be practical things—finding my way around the city, taking the subway, settling into a new place.

Turns out those weren’t the hardest

For now, the harder part has been learning how to sit with my own thoughts 💭

Living between two continents. Between two time zones. Between the life I temporarily left behind in Jakarta and the one I'm trying to build here, day by day.

How to celebrate exciting moments with no one physically beside me.
How to process difficult days on my own.
How to be okay with not having everything figured out yet.

The last time I lived by myself was almost fifteen years ago.

I think this version of me is doing better than the younger one.
Still scared sometimes.
Still overwhelmed.
But a little kinder to herself.

Maybe that’s what these three weeks have really been about.

Not finding all the answers.

Just slowly learning how to stay afloat. 🤍

Something I’ve been looking forward to since 2024. ✈️🍎

Back in May 2024, I received an email saying I had been selected for a six-month fellowship in New York through the Asian Cultural Council (ACC). But @asianculturalcouncil asking whether I would be okay if my fellowship took place in 2026 instead of 2025.

Without hesitation, I said yes.
Some opportunities are simply worth the wait. 🤍

And now... it’s finally happening.

Grateful doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel. Nervous? Absolutely. This kampung girl is heading to the US for the very first time and as a solo traveler too.

The funny thing is, over the past eight years I’ve become such a princess passenger 👸🏻 🤭 @reynoldsetiadi and the people around me have always taken such good care of every trip that all I had to do was follow along. 😂

This time, I have to figure everything out myself.

The adventure has already begun with an unexpected overnight stay in Tokyo after my flight to New York was cancelled. And now, after 24 hours in Japan, I’m sitting at the gate waiting to board a 13-hour flight to Newark.

A little scared. Very excited.
Whatever awaits me over the next six months, I’m ready to embrace it.

To everyone who sent prayers, encouragement, and the sweetest messages - THANK YOU. I didn’t expect to get emotional (it’s only six months, after all!), but reading your words definitely made me cry.

And to the entire ACC team, thank you for believing in me and for this incredible opportunity. After two years of emails and Zoom calls, I can’t wait to finally meet you all in person.

New York, here I come 🇺🇸

Marathon in real life. 🏃🏻‍♀️✨

I’ve never actually run a marathon, but I imagine life feels a lot like one. It’s not about how fast you go, it’s about consistency, perseverance, and simply putting one foot in front of the other, even when you’re tired.

Half of the year has already flown by, and somehow... I’m still intact. Still in one piece. 😂

Looking back at these past two months from D’Artistry, Ballet ABC, Relevé, IDC and everything in between, I’m reminded that while the journey can be exhausting, it’s also incredibly rewarding.

The people I’ve met along the way have truly been the fuel that keeps me going. Every conversation, every collaboration, every laugh backstage, every challenge we’ve overcome together - THANK YOU!

Not every day you get to perform on the side of the road with the city as your stage. But it was FUN 😄
