They didn't have these when we were in school! This week the IPG applications lab welcomed students and professors from the Optics and Photonics program at Springfield Technical Community College to check out some of our newest laser systems and try their hand at welding with the LightWELD Handheld Laser Welder and Cleaning System. Product engineering specialist Joe Roy had them making solid welds within minutes! by @ipg.lightweld

Pausing to check out our handiwork during a recent LightWELD XR video shoot. Copper, with its high thermal conductivity, can be tricky with traditional welding methods. LightWELD XR provides high energy density and preset parameters required to fusion weld copper up to 2mm thick in a single pass.

Have you seen the capabilities of the new LightWELD XR? Sheet metal up to 1/4’’ (6.35 mm) thick, steel, aluminum, titanium, copper and nickel alloys, metals with dissimilar thicknesses and ultra-thin parts are all easily welded and cleaned. With the LightWELD XR Handheld Laser Welding & Cleaning System you can perform welds that are difficult, if not impossible, with traditional methods.

IPG Photonics Launches LightWELD XR: The Newest Member of LightWELD Family. LightWELD XR Handheld Laser Welding & Cleaning System provides an extended range of handheld laser welding and cleaning capabilities to address more materials and thicknesses than previous LightWELD models by producing a much smaller spot size delivering more than six times the energy density. This increase in focused energy makes weld penetration of thicker materials easier, faster, and deeper while minimizing the heat-affected zone and reducing distortion or deformation of the surrounding surface area.

📸 Repost!
Operation manuals and guidelines are important in teaching skills and knowledge but nothing beats experiential knowledge gained from actual demonstrations. That's why our team implements #nexAirKnowHow to help you make the most of these tools! Learn more about the importance of demos by clicking the link in our bio 💫

LightWELD makes pipe-to-flange and pipe-to-pipe welds easier than every before. What do we love most about laser welding? Is it the speed? The minimal pre and post weld cleaning? The lack of heat distortion? Welding without wire? Luckily we don't have to choose.
