MAYOR ZOHRAN MAMDANI SENDS VOLUNTEERS DOOR TO DOOR TO HELP NYC TENANTS FIGHT NEGLIGENT LANDLORDS

NEW YORK, NY β€” New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is taking his fight for tenants' rights directly into neighborhoods through a citywide initiative designed to help renters stand up against negligent landlords and unsafe housing conditions.

The program, called "Talk to Tenants," sends volunteers door to door to inform residents about their housing rights, help them organize tenant associations and connect them with resources to address ongoing building violations.

The initiative began in neighborhoods including East Harlem, Washington Heights, Inwood and Flatbush, with plans to expand throughout all five boroughs.

Volunteers are reaching out to residents dealing with problems such as mold, pest infestations, broken elevators, inadequate heating and delayed repairs.

The effort is part of Mamdani's broader housing agenda, which includes strengthening tenant protections, holding negligent property owners accountable and improving living conditions for working-class New Yorkers.

City officials say the goal is to empower tenants to work together, demand necessary repairs and protect their rights without having to confront housing problems alone.

YOUNG GURU SAYS "CREATIVE AI NOT WELCOME!" DESPITE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE BEING HERE TO STAY

NEW YORK, NY β€” Legendary Hip-Hop audio engineer and longtime JAY-Z collaborator Young Guru is speaking out against artificial intelligence being used to create music and other artistic content.

During an interview with AllHipHop at New York Comic Con, Young Guru made it clear that he opposes creative AI but supports technology that assists artists with their work. He raised concerns about artistic expression, personal privacy, corporate control and the need for stronger AI regulations.

While acknowledging that AI technology is becoming part of everyday life, Young Guru maintains that human creativity should remain at the center of music production. His comments add to the growing debate over AI-generated music and protecting the rights of artists.

A$AP ROCKY SHOWS LOVE TO FERG AFTER HE ANNOUNCES HIS NEW ALBUM IS FINISHED

HARLEM, NEW YORK, NY β€” Hip-Hop superstar A$AP Rocky is showing love to longtime friend and collaborator FERG after the Harlem rapper announced that his upcoming album is officially completed.

On October 12, FERG took to Instagram to reveal that his new project was finished and asked who would be interested in distributing it. Rocky responded with a congratulatory message and a red heart emoji, telling FERG, "U know where home is."

The exchange comes after tension between the two artists over FERG's decision to remove A$AP from his stage name. Rocky previously admitted that the decision hurt him, while FERG explained that the change represented personal growth and independence.

Rocky's public support now suggests a possible reconciliation between the Harlem Hip-Hop stars, with speculation that his AWGE label could help distribute FERG's upcoming album. No official distribution agreement or release date has been announced.

REST IN PEACE GREENSPOINT MALL (1976–2026): DEMOLITION BEGINS AFTER NEARLY 50 YEARS IN HOUSTON

HOUSTON, TX β€” An era in Houston shopping history is coming to an end as demolition begins at the former Greenspoint Mall, nearly 50 years after it first opened on August 5, 1976.

Once one of North Houston's premier shopping destinations, Greenspoint Mall was home to major retailers including Sears, Foley's, JCPenney, Montgomery Ward and Dillard's. For generations, the mall served as a gathering place for shopping, dining, entertainment and family memories.

After years of declining business, store closures and vacancies, Greenspoint Mall officially closed in July 2024.

On October 13, 2026, city officials gathered as demolition crews began tearing down part of the former shopping center, marking the beginning of its transformation into the $150 million CityNorth Industrial Park.

The redevelopment is expected to bring approximately 300 construction jobs and eventually support 1,200 permanent jobs, with the first phase scheduled for completion in 2028.

Although Greenspoint Mall is disappearing from Houston's landscape, its memories will live on with generations of shoppers who once walked its halls.

JERMAINE DUPRI SAYS ARTISTS ARE BLAMING "BAD MARKETING" FOR CANCELLED TOURS WHEN THE REAL ISSUE IS THEY DON'T HAVE HITS

ATLANTA, GA β€” Grammy-winning Hip-Hop producer and So So Def Recordings founder Jermaine Dupri is speaking out about artists struggling to sell concert tickets and cancelling tours.

In a recent Instagram comment circulating online, Dupri criticized performers who blame poor marketing and promotion for disappointing ticket sales, arguing that the bigger problem is a lack of hit records and quality music.

According to Dupri, artists cannot expect audiences to purchase expensive concert tickets when their music fails to connect with listeners. He emphasized that the music itself should be the driving force behind a successful tour.

His comments come amid growing concerns about concert cancellations throughout 2026, as artists face rising touring expenses, ticket prices and changing consumer demand.

Dupri's remarks have sparked debate within the music industry over whether strong hit records or effective promotion matter more when it comes to filling concert venues.

E-40 SAYS HE REFUSES TO SIGN OTHER RAPPERS BECAUSE BOSSES GET BLAMED WHEN ARTISTS FLOP BUT DON'T GET PRAISED WHEN THEY SUCCEED

VALLEJO, CA β€” Bay Area Hip-Hop legend and entrepreneur E-40 is drawing attention over comments attributed to him about the challenges of signing and developing other rappers.

According to the circulating claim, E-40 believes record label executives often receive criticism when an artist's career fails to take off but receive little recognition when that same artist becomes successful.

The veteran rapper, whose real name is Earl Stevens, has spent decades building an independent music career and establishing himself as a businessman. Through his Sick Wid It Records label, E-40 helped bring attention to Bay Area Hip-Hop and independent artists.

His reported position raises questions about accountability in the recording industry, including whether artists should take greater responsibility for their careers instead of placing the blame entirely on record labels and executives.

The discussion also highlights the risks involved in artist development, financial investment and maintaining successful relationships between performers and their labels.

BIGGIE'S "READY TO DIE" COVER BABY WAS PAID ONLY $150 FOR A TWO-HOUR PHOTO SHOOT β€” AND THE BABY WASN'T BIGGIE!

BRONX, NY β€” One of Hip-Hop's biggest mysteries has a surprising story behind it! The baby featured on The Notorious B.I.G.'s legendary 1994 debut album Ready to Die was not Christopher Wallace himself, but a Bronx native named Keithroy Yearwood.

According to reports, Yearwood was approximately 18 months old when his mother arranged a modeling opportunity through an agency. The photo shoot lasted about two hours, and his family received just $150 for the photograph that would become one of Hip-Hop's most recognizable album covers.

For years, fans believed the baby was a childhood picture of Biggie. However, in 2011, Yearwood publicly revealed his identity, explaining that he was proud to be part of Hip-Hop history.

Despite the album selling millions of copies and becoming a cultural classic, Yearwood reportedly received no royalties beyond the original modeling payment.

More than three decades later, Ready to Die remains one of the most influential albums in Hip-Hop history, and the Bronx native's childhood photograph continues to represent the legacy of the late Brooklyn rap legend.
