Positive Disintegration, 2025

Shatter your shell on the ruins of old, for the days it aided you are long forgone. Fangs dull, armor cracks and faith disbands. Rejoice not over what has fallen, as things fall for they ever have, but wonder now in fresh awe at what lies affront you. Gather up your sharded shell and linger, for you have much to think on and even more to learn anew. But we are right beside another.

We are delighted to share with you, the fruits of our week long residency at Naaldwijkstraat 45!

Again and again, we are blown away by what music can do to us all. The last edition was another night that left us with nothing but gratitude. It is so special that we can let loose together — to be vulnerable, to be quiet and truly listen, and to let music guide us through space and time. 🔮

We as the Mulatu Team are so proud and honoured to hold a space where Selectors, Listeners, and Crew come together — and feel free to let go and simply be.

A heartfelt thank you to @djrobmanga , for taking us on such a beautiful journey through his life, with both his words and the music that carried him through it. For us it was a sonic experience we will not forget so quickly. ✨

And right after, @pelanoir lifted us from deep listening and reflection into dance — letting all those goosebumps and emotions dissolve into joyful, shared movement. 🪩

Earlier in the day, the library gave us the opportunity to bring a new concept to life. @hannaburgers led a moving listening session inspired on a YA book, accompanied by a deeply personal spoken word performance by @ira_gruen . And ultimately, we want to thank you dear Listeners. Seeing familiar faces always come back, and sensing such respect and curiosity for what we try to create, is the most rewarding feeling there is.

Cume, as in the portuguese word Cumeeira, means the upper edge where two roofs meet. Originally thought of as candleholders, the slits in the angled bars register the passage of time as the candles burn. Simultaneously, the individually applied patinas indicate processes taking place within the life of metals.

Cume - together with Arco, Calha, and Telha - is part of Telhada, a series of lights inspired by parts of the roof. In the same way as roofs give shape & shelter to a house, the collection of metal pieces serve both as a cover and a diffuser for the lighting element.

Eisenstrasse, 2023

looking for the stories and tales through the gestures of places, worn by extraction or tourism. parts of this visual research was collected when following the Eisenstraße in the Eisenerz Alps last summer, where the biggest iron-ore extraction site in central europe became a tourist attraction in an otherwise quiet town.

1/2 opening some windows and some tales at @boox.space
‚a tale of a space and a window to a tale‘ will be on view until 9th of june 🌬️

‚The story that unfolds before you is resting somewhere between the walls of this space and the glass panes on the facade, but it much rather asks to be imagined.

Imagine: once a family with twelve children lived in this space, with twelve stained- glass pieces decorating its window front. When they moved out, each sibling received one piece to keep as a memory.

This tale is about siblinghood beyond nuclear family, and belongs to the interrelated spaces between all things. Through imagery, I look for those connections in the Commonplace: tiny flowers wither on the hot surface of a car, while the same stinging rays of midday sun pierce a broken window. Composed as diptychs, the images are encompassed by steel frames, that never fully close. They provide space for stories to be told – a tale that is a tale of many.‘

𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘪𝘳𝘥𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘳, 𝟤𝟢𝟤𝟥

moving along the mountains between abruzzo and styria last summer, thinking about birdwatching - the (91% white) obsession of collecting sights of exotic and rare birds with ones eyes. visiting the taxidermy collection of stift admont, gazing into lifeless eyes of displaced bodies myself, and to go full circle, finding myself involuntarily exposed to the same old stinging male gaze, against the backdrop of a 360 degree panorama of the alps.
