It wasn't the illness that had me thinking, but the strange disappearance of choices that the pandemic brought with it honestly🙌

COVID is remembered through visible things...the lockdowns, the masks, the hospital wards, the empty roads, the infection numbers...but one of the less discussed consequences of that period was how quickly ordinary choices became the difficult ones🤞
Returning home, earning a living, asking for help, protecting someone we loved, trusting a stranger, continuing a business, even deciding what mattered the most...almost every decision suddenly came with a cost.
Honestly, this book has understood that so very well🙌

All six stories were interesting because they didn't present survival as one dramatic act of bravery, instead, survival appeared in smaller, more complicated forms🙃
Someone compromised with hunger, someone began an exhausting journey back home, someone discovered compassion in an institutional space, while another person tried to rebuild after circumstances had taken away the life they had planned🥲
These were not necessarily...
.the heroic choices in the conventional sense for they were human choices made when the required alternatives no longer existe🤞
That's where the title "Six Narrow Exits" became meaningful to me.
An exit is supposed to offer freedom but a narrow exit is about getting through somewhere where it may itself require negotiation...with circumstances, with other people and sometimes with one's own conscience🙇‍♀️
Time and again, these stories walked through that uncomfortable space between what a person wanted to do and what their circumstances had them do🤞

Duck to Century actually made me look at my own journey a bit differently🙃

The cricket metaphor, to be honest, seemed straight forward...a duck is zero, a century is a milestone...but as I crept in, it became clear that Mr. Sumit Kukreja has not really written about the distance between 0 and 100, rather he's written about everything that happens in between.

Worth all appreciation is that the book didn't rush past the uncomfortable parts of the journey. Career uncertainty, wrong decisions, financial pressures, personal struggles, self doubt, unexpected changes and the need to begin again...have been given the space they deserve. Mr. Kukreja didn't turn every setback into some neatly packaged success lesson, instead, he's shown how confusing and difficult it can be to simply keep going when one doesn't know where the next step would lead!
The way He's written about the people who become a part of our journey is again worth all admiration🫡
Mentors, family, colleagues and those...who give us an opportunity at the right moment can influence our lives in ways we'll understand only much later.
These experiences gave warmth to the book and made Sumit’s story more personal (than a conventional career memoir) to read and understand!

I even enjoyed reading the thought behind D.U.C.K. to C.E.N.T.U.R.Y.
The title gradually showed itself as more than a clever cricket reference for it became a framework for thinking about uncertainty, decisions, effort, learning and resilience🫡
The ideas have been presented simply, without making them turn into some lecture!!

Sumit’s story became worth reading because of his willingness to acknowledge that a successful life can contain unsuccessful chapters.
His experience across finance, entrepreneurship, leadership and personal reinvention made the book practical to read and understand 👏

Nupur Anand has built the mystery around Jennie’s vanishing but the real element of the novel was in how it expanded that initial uncertainty into a wider, unsettling pattern🙌
Inspector Intekhaab Abbas wasn't simply following clues from one crime scene to another but was trying to make sense of connections that seemed to keep away explanation. His personal history with Jennie...definitely added the needed emotional weight to the investigation, which made every discovery consequential rather than merely procedural🤞

What I particularly appreciate is that instead of overwhelming me with elaborate explanations or artificially dramatic twists, Ms. Anand allowed the unease to build gradually👌
Separate incidents began to acquire significance, ordinary looking details became suspicious and the investigation developed the uncomfortable quality of a puzzle in which the picture was really much darker...than expected!

The Mumbai setting definitely contributed beautifully to the whole atmosphere💯
The city felt all textured and menacing...yes and that surely gave the story another identity...like beyond its crime fiction framework!!

The novel’s suggestion...that danger isn't always loud for it reveals itself through obvious signs because sometimes it exists behind familiarity, appearances and the assumptions we make about people...sounded all fair, relevant and truly true!!
This actually made Swallowed more than just an entertaining mystery because it became an unsettling call on how easily the truth could remain hidden in plain sight🙃

The book was entertaining because the author has nicely managed to find humour in situations that could otherwise become a bit serious👌

Radhika was trying to lose weight and follow her meal plan but then Diwali arrived with parties, social gatherings, sweets, drinks and a disrupted gym routine.
Her struggle to stay disciplined during the festive season was utterly believable and relatable😬
The weighing scale scene was one of my favourite parts. Radhika was desperately hoping for good news, only to discover that she had gained weight again🥲 (me all the time🥲🙃)
Her reaction had the emotional side of dieting. Written so well that it didn't make the scene overly dramatic!

Nidhi’s calm and practical attitude has my heart!!
Her suggestion, that Radhika should set a short term goal rather than constantly focusing on the larger target blew a lot of sense into the story👌

Desierto Florido has the poetry that asks to be experienced and not just read through!
Reading it...was like moving through a carefully curated gallery where poems, pauses and paintings conversed with one another🫶🎀
Miss. Devangana Mishra didn't have me rush towards some meaning, instead, she created enough space for thoughtful observation and trusting emotions to arrive in their own time🤌
The most that had my heart was how beautifully the central metaphor of the “flowering desert” ran through the collection🥹💞
Whether the poems spoke of grief, longing, love, memory or...renewal, there was an underlying belief that even the most barren emotional landscapes could bloom again🫶🥹
The writing is layered but gracefully accessible, rich in imagery and never did feel ornamental.
The visual artwork, that accompanyed the poems, beautified them like anything and honestly made them all the more immersive and contemplative❣️

It's definitely not one of those books that we conplete in a single sitting because they are 'poetry books'🙌🤞for it's the one to return to repeatedly because everytime you'd read, you'd discover a new...more powerful meaning!!
It's calm, it's quiet, it's thoughtful and it's utterly human🥹🤌

It's also a celebration of resilience, imagination and the healing power of art🫶🎀

This book is a beautifully powerful memoir that made me realise how a place could become part of someone's being, long before they'd fully understood why🤌
Beginning as an account of public health, the book journeyed across Lakshadweep...gradually opening into something more intimate...a portrait of island life, human relationships, collective responsibility and the delicate things that make a community feel like home🫶

It was amazing to read, the book not separating the achievement of becoming India’s first TB free geography from the people who made it possible🤞
The mission has not been presented as some distant institutional success, but as something that was built through trust, persistence, cultural understanding and the participation of ordinary people🤩🤌
The healthcare workers, families, islanders and communities remained at the heart of the book which made the achievement sound lived, rather than merely documented⭐

The Lakshadweep that emerged from these pages was also more than a picturesque destination honestly🤩🤞
Through Dr. Rakesh's observations, one encounters a place governed by tides, monsoons, limited connectivity, shared dependence and a rhythm of life...that's very different from the mainland🙌 The islands are beautiful, but they are also vulnerable, their simplicity and close knit social fabric, exists alongside the pressures of development, tourism and changing aspirations🙃
He's even brought together public health, travel, memory and human stories without letting any one element...overpower the other🤞

This beautiful book, is surely a tribute to the idea that meaningful change is never created by systems alone, for it is sustained by people who care enough to participate in it🫂
It really is a sensitive and memorable read that left me with not just an understanding of Lakshadweep, but a genuine affection for its people and the fragile worlds they call home🫶🤌

This book didn't let a crime investigation remain merely a crime investigation for it turned it into something super interesting to read🙌
That which began in Tiruppur as a case involving a dangerous drug syndicate, gradually expanded into a more unsettling...carefully concealed network where criminal ambition, political corruption and a threat to the country’s younger generation intersected⚔️

At the centre of it all was Velan, a protagonist whose intensity was matched by an uncompromising sense of duty but that which made him interestingly readable than a conventional action oriented police hero, was the pressure placed on that integrity🤞
The investigation didn't simply test his courage but also forced him to come face to face with how far justice could be pursued when the machinery opposing it was powerful, all embedded and difficult to identify🙃
The partnership with Anupama added a very valuable dimension. Her journalistic instincts complemented Velan’s investigative approach, which had the narrative examine the same truth from different directions🤞
All of it made this thriller feel larger than its immediate setting without losing its heart for people, institutions and recognisable social concerns🙌

The book’s treatment of the drug menace also gave its suspense a disturbing to read relevance. Like beneath the action and conspiracy, there was a prominent question about what would happen when an entire generation became the target of forces operating in the shadows.
That surely gave the story an element beyond solving a case🤞

Mr. Darsan Halan has brought together procedural investigation, cinematic action and an ever deepening conspiracy in a very clear and easy to follow manner without compromising on the implications that grew darker🫡
Velan IPS is a story about how a contained threat could reveal a much dangerous system and how difficult it could become to distinguish the enemy when the real battle is made to fought from behind the scenes🤞

That which many space thrillers tend to overlook, The Crimson Divide understood and addressed real well, that reaching another planet doesn't automatically make humanity wiser🙇‍♀️

Set two years after the establishment of Jezero City, this one explored how quickly the idea of a shared future could begin to fracture when resources started to become scarce, loyalties...conditional and the political power refuses to stay behind on Earth🤞
The Mars setting was no doubt brilliant to read but the real element and excitement came from watching pioneering civilisation struggle with problems that were really painfully familiar...mistrust, ambition, factionalism and the desire to control what others had built🙌
Liked reading the way the narrative widened its scope through the story.
That which initially appeared to be a crisis within a vulnerable colony, developed into a more complicated conflict that involved military interests, shifting alliances, sabotage and questions about independence🤌
The arrival of the Bogatyr added an awesome geopolitical dimension and the unexplained disturbances beneath the Martian surface...brought forward a completely different kind of uncertainty🥲

Another plus point was that the book didn't treat its characters as mere instruments for delivering some scientific or political ideas.
Vihaan and Zara remained in the centre of the emotional movement of the story and their decisions carried the weight of people trying to protect...not just a settlement but altogether the possibility of a future worth having🤞

For me, the best thing about the book was the question it hovered around...it being that if humanity carried its old divisions to a new world, could it genuinely create something new there???🤞
"The Crimson Divide" is a cinematic sequel but it presented the most engaging conflict between the dream of civilisation and the instincts that threatened to destroy it🙌

Science fiction stories...powerful enough to shake the brains around what humanity might discover beyond Earth, are my absolute favourite!!
This book came up with an even more unsettling element..."what if the world that we're trying to conquer, has already been alive, aware and waiting...long before we arrived???"
That newly different perspective, made Mr. Nambiar’s concluding installment of the "Mission Mars trilogy" all the more interesting and engaging👌

The book began with the expected space exploration, technological ambition and survival on another planet, but gradually transformed into a conflict that involved planetary consciousness, human interference, military power and the consequences of mistaking unfamiliar life for an obstacle🙌

The Apex was an especially awesome idea👌
It wasn't simply another alien entity introduced...to raise the stakes, for it changed the very meaning of Mars within the story boss!!!
The planet stopped being merely a destination or a colony to be protected and became something humanity must learn to understand🫡
That honestly made the central conflict all the more engaging than a straightforward battle between opposing forces.
I also liked how the book placed its large scale science fiction concepts alongside utterly human decisions🤌
Vihaan’s unusual connection with the Apex, Zara’s dangerous mission and the pressures faced by Miller and Volkov, gave the story, an emotional centre amid the planetary and intergalactic developments🌌♾️
The stress came not only from what might destroy Mars, but from whether humanity was capable of responding to the unknown...without immediately trying to dominate it🤞 (one awesome thing to read it was!!!)

That which began as a crisis on a distant colony, expanded into questions about coexistence, responsibility and humanity’s place in a much larger cosmic order🌠🌌

Mostly...thrillers are built around finding something that has been hidden. This one, "The Sanctum Key", becomes all the more interesting because it continuously questioned that "what if something or someone could disappear so completely that even reality would seem to have forgotten, that it ever existed🤞
This question...or more specifically the idea, gave Ms. Sudharsana’s novel, all the more, an unusual ground.
It began with a scientific accident and an almost impossible disappearance which gradually followed a tense narrative involving ancient knowledge, secret societies, historical figures and scientific possibilities that actually challenged ordinary assumptions about time and existence🙃
The mystery wasn't simply about discovering the truth but about understanding which version of reality, the characters and us readers could actually trust🤞
The awesome use of the multiple timelines was particularly fantastic to read for they've been used real well👌
The shifts between the modern investigation, the historical threads and the older secrets, steadily created the impression that events separated by centuries were somehow participating in the same unfinished conversation😅
The connections haven't been handed over immediately, which definitely made reading through the story feel closer to collecting evidence than merely following a plot🤩🙌
(That's exactly awesome writing 👌💯🤩🫡)

The scientific framework also gave the book its 'stand apart' identity👌
Rather than presenting mythology and science as convenient opposites, the story had them exist in tension with one another, raising questions about knowledge, belief, ambition and the consequences of discovering something critical before humanity is ready to understand it🤞

I too, personally feel that we, as a generation, have romanticized storytelling into a genetic lottery.
We look at boardrooms, stages or viral posts and almost assume that the people holding our attention were simply handed a microphone at birth, blessed with the talent around words.
Mr. Sandeep Nair has written something radical to cut through that illusion...that it takes a scalpel to it!!

Gracefully drawing on hard earned battles scaling multi million dollar brands from P&G to Swiggy, rather than sitting in some fancy academic tower, Mr. Nair has treated communication not as some mystical art form, but as a piece of precision engineering!!
The book has the craft, organised into a lean, three pillared blueprint...Soul, Body and Spirit🤌
It has been kept away from being theoretical and that makes the framework, all the more unique🤩
Most of the books on the subject tell us to "be engaging," but Sandeep Nair has handed over a structural scaffolding.
✨The Soul anchors our metrics and emotional intent for our message to actually have a heartbeat.
✨The Body provides the tension tactics and narrative architecture, like the classic story pattern loop, so as to stop our audience's minds from wandering.
✨The Spirit makes the dealing with the situational awareness, recognizing that a pitch to a skeptical venture capitalist, requires an entirely different frequency than a chat with a creative team!

The best thing about "The Story Map" is that it recognises that most brilliant ideas die silent deaths simply because their creators couldn't smuggle them out of their own heads.
By treating communication as a repeatable system complete with diagnostic paths, chapter summaries and action loops, Mr. Nair has wonderfully turned an elusive soft skill into a hard operational tool.
It definitely is an essential read for anyone tired of watching lesser ideas win simply because they were packaged better!
