POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Somewhere along the way, I realized I was apologizing for things I had absolutely no reason to apologize for.
I’m learning that growing up also means unlearning the need to feel guilty for simply having boundaries, needs and a life of my own.

Here are the 10 things I no longer feel guilty about:
1. Saying no without giving a 10 minute explanation
“No” is a complete sentence, actually.
2. Changing my mind
Just because something felt right for me yesterday doesn’t mean I owe it to myself forever.
3. Not replying immediately
Being available 24/7 isn’t a personality trait.
4. Spending money on things that genuinely make me happy
As long as my responsibilities are handled, I deserve to enjoy my money too.
5. Choosing myself
I don’t think looking out for everyone else (family, friends) should require abandoning myself.
6. Outgrowing people
Not every relationship/friendship is meant to follow you into every version of your life.
7. Wanting more for myself
I’m allowed to have bigger dreams without feeling like i’m asking for too much.
8. Taking a break without “earning” it first
I don’t need to completely burn out before I’m allowed to rest.
9. Protecting my privacy
Not everyone needs access to every part of my life just because they know me.
10. Doing things at my own pace
My life doesn’t become less valuable because someone else got there before me. taken in Lagos, Nigeria by @ireadebiyi

1. Your first few videos are going to be cringe.
You’re not going to magically know your angles, editing style, hooks, voice, or niche from day one. You figure it out by posting.
2. Consistency doesn’t mean posting every single day.
It means creating a system you can actually maintain without getting burnt out. Quality + sustainability > forcing yourself to post.
3. Your audience will not care about your content as much as you do.
And that’s actually freeing, stop overthinking whether people will judge you. Post the content!
4. You can have good content and still get terrible views.
Sometimes the video is genuinely good and the algorithm simply says, “not today.” Don’t let one low-performing post convince you that you’re bad at this.
5. You don’t find your style before you start, you create your style by starting.
Your editing, storytelling, filming style and personality become clearer the more you experiment. You have to post the “wrong” content to discover your right content.
I hope this helps 😘 taken in Lagos, Nigeria by @ireadebiyi

If you’re in your early twenties, you should read this:
1. Outgrowing people doesn’t always mean something went wrong
2. Sometimes you have to stop waiting to feel ready and just go for it
3. Being busy doesn’t always mean you’re being productive.
4. You’re not behind, you’re just on your own timeline
5. You can start over as many times as you need to
6. Not everyone needs to understand your choices
7. Your twenties are allowed to look completely different from what you imagined.
8. You don’t need to have your life figured out by a certain age
9. You really do become the person you spend the most time with so choose yourself too.
10. There’s still so much life ahead of me, and honestly that’s the exciting part.

One thing I’m learning is that creating good content isn’t just about having great ideas. It’s also about knowing how to bring those ideas to life.

Here’s how I approach mine:

1. Ideation/Brainstorming
Every video starts with an idea. Sometimes it’s a random thought, something I’ve seen, or a concept I want to experiment with. I always make sure to write it down

2. The inspiration
Next, I look for references. I pay attention to the storytelling, camera angles, transitions, and little details that make a video interesting. Not to copy, but to figure out how I can interpret the idea in my own way.

3. The concept
I think about the story I want to tell, the message I want to pass across, and how I want the viewer to feel. This helps me give the idea direction instead of just filming a lot of random clips, this helps to save storage too iykyk 😂

4. The shot list
Before filming, I think about the shots I’ll need to bring the concept to life. What should the viewer see first? What details can make the video more engaging? How can I tell the story visually?

5. The execution
Time to bring the idea to life! I set up, experiment with different angles, play around with the lighting, and make adjustments as I go. The final result doesn’t always look exactly like my original vision, and that’s part of the process.

6. The final touches
Editing is where everything comes together. I focus on the pacing, sound, transitions, and overall storytelling to make sure the final video communicates what I intended.

I’m still learning, experimenting, and finding new ways to improve my process, but one thing I’ve realised is that being intentional makes a difference.

Save this for the next time you’re planning content, and let me know: which part of the creative process do you struggle with the most?
